This epic yoga, meditation, and hiking retreat will challenge you physically and mentally, but at the same time reward you with the most amazing feelings - gratitude, admiration, the experience of divinity, and internal silence. You will see yourself and your life from another perspective, helping you to focus on the important things. Mountains and weather are unpredictable, like life itself. Hiking is like a spiritual experience, teaching you mindfulness if you allow it.
The hotel is located in the city center and the comfortable but simple rooms include a private bathroom, shower, toiletries, and free wireless internet. You can choose between a single or a double room. The hotel's name is Thon Hotel Moldefjord, address is Storgata 40, Molde. If you prefer a more luxurious room, please let Pille Mitt know. The hotel is about 7 minutes' walking distance from the yoga studio.
Yoga is for everyone. You do not need to be very experienced in it, but if you are, good for you! The morning yoga will be a traditional Hatha yoga class. The pace of the class depends on the group level.
There are almost always some beginners and some more experienced practitioners together on the retreat and it is a good thing since then you can learn from each other. The morning yoga class is usually 75 minutes with pranayama and relaxation.
After the morning yoga class, you will eat breakfast. After breakfast, you will walk or drive to the starting point of the hikes. Sometimes it is close by but for some hikes, it can be up to 45 minutes to drive to the starting point. Hiking in Norway can be different from some other countries.
The definition of hiking is a long, vigorous walk, usually on trails, in the countryside. So, it is not walking in the park or on flat land. It is walking uphills and downhills on different terrain. In Norway, it can be forest, grass, or stones, usually a combination of all three.
Sometimes you have to use your hands to help yourself. You will have hikes 3 to 5 kilometer one way. The elevation is 480 m.a.s.l. until 1200 m.a.s.l. The difficulty level of the hikes is moderate. You will start with easier and shorter hikes. You have to be moderately fit to participate.
However, you are walking fairly slowly and taking breaks on the way. The purpose is to enjoy the journey, not to hurry up and down. Walking slowly can give you the experience of a meditation walk. One of the purposes of hiking is to enjoy the stunning views over the fjords and mountains of Norway.
They make you speechless. Silent is the best companion to sit on the top of the mountain and eat your lunch. Or you may want to take a lot of beautiful photos. Usually, people say that although the hike may not be easy, it is worth it!
The sunrise hike has been a popular option among our hiking yogis and yoginis. If the weather allows, you will walk up to see the amazing sunrise over the mountains. Words can hardly describe the simple, profound, and breathtaking magic of watching the sun emerge from the horizon in the stillness of the early morning.
After hiking, you are walking or driving to the yoga studio again to stretch and relax. A combination of yin and restorative yoga or one of them will help to recover your muscles for the next day.
Dinners consist of delicious and fresh seafood bought from local fishermen, vegetables, and healthy desserts like banana bread, fruit salads, raw chocolate, or bliss balls.
During or after dinner you will have some discussions about the essence of yoga and the eight limbs of yoga.
The weather in Norway may change rapidly. If it is raining heavily there is an option to spend a day in a local water park Moldebadet, visit the museum or have a raw chocolate workshop.
Please be aware that it is a very active holiday. If you need a more relaxing holiday, you are still welcome to participate, but Pille Mitt strongly recommends you skip some hiking trips and yoga classes. Walking in the mountains every day for 3 days can be physically demanding.
If you have some injuries or knee problems, please take your walking sticks with you. The most important things are good walking shoes, a positive mind, and the ability to listen to your own body.

Energizing morning yoga session, breakfast, pack lunch. Hiking Tusenårsvarden 523 m.a.s.l. After the hike, you will return to the yoga studio for an afternoon yin yoga session and dinner.
Strengthening morning yoga session, followed by breakfast, pack lunch, and snacks. Hiking Troll Church 484 m.a.s.l., consists of three exciting limestone and marble grottos with underground streams and a beautiful waterfall. On the surface, to the west of the uppermost grotto, there is a lake with white marble "jetties".
The mountain behind the Trolls' church is very distinctive, with jagged points and spires. Sometimes, you will hike only to the caves and lake but with real adventurers, you will hike further over the mountain ridge (832 m.a.s.l.) and make a loop back to the cave. Guests can choose how long of a hike they want this day. After the hike, you will return for a restorative yoga session and a delicious meal.
Morning yoga, followed by breakfast and pack lunch. Jendemsfjellet 633 m.a.s.l. is a mountain near Molde with a breathtaking 360-degree view over the fjords and mountains. Afternoon yoga session followed by a delicious meal in the accommodation.
You will enjoy a final morning yoga session and breakfast before guests depart. This itinerary is subject to change depending on participants' comfort level and the weather.
