Join Pilates Retreat Asia for a magical retreat in the island of gods, Bali. Tash Barnard will guide you through innovative and knowledgeable Pilates classes and inspire you to do more than you thought you were capable of. Barbara Gentile from New York will share her passion for yoga and teach you with patience and wisdom. Step out of your comfort zone and you’ll be amazed of what slumbers deep inside of you.
The maximum participants in the group is 15.
Surrounded by paddy fields and an organic garden, your home for the week will be the much sought after Desa Seni Village Resort in Canggu. Created by two Australian friends, the eco-resort is a labor of love and a hand-picked collection of beautiful antique wooden homes and traditional furnishings, representing different cultures and traditions of Indonesian lifestyle.
Each villa has its own style and character and the attention to detail is remarkable. It might take you the week to discover all the little details and treasures your cosy home has to offer. There is a saltwater pool with a sundeck, an organic restaurant supplied from the on-site garden, and a spa offering holistic treatments.
There are grassy pathways and hidden gazebos and lots of space to live and breathe and laugh and be. And of course, there is a beautiful outdoor yoga studio that you will be using for the classes and workshops. You might not want to leave, but in case you do need a break, the closest beach is just 15 minutes away and easily reached by tuk tuk, taxi, or bicycle.
Stay in one of Desa Seni’s unique Indonesian village homes and feel like you’ve truly arrived in paradise. Each house is a little different and you will love them all. Some overlook the organic gardens or the pool, others have a private porch or a gazebo in the garden. All villas have air conditioning and private bathrooms and most are spacious enough to share even with someone you don’t know.
For more privacy, you may choose to have your villa all to yourself. Read a book on your porch or invite one of your newly found friends (after all you might be doing partner yoga together!) to join you for a fresh ginger lemon tea. As all houses can be converted into twin shares, you will find yourself with ample space in your new Balinese home.
In this retreat, you will practice two to three-hour Pilates and yoga classes per day. The style of yoga practiced is a mix of regular, Acro, and Aerial. Aside from regular classes, you will have one-on-one assessment or private session with Natasja or Barbara. There will be also standing Pilates workshop and partner and acrobatic yoga workshop. Open talk about traditional Chinese medicine and seminar on Balinese healing modalities and aura chakra cleansing are also included in the program.
Included in the package is an excursion to Uluwatu.
Tash embarked on a career in Pilates after graduating with honors in the Cecchetti Ballet and IDTA Modern Dance methods in 2000. She studied the BASI Pilates method directly under Rael Isacowitz and Kristi White and was qualified as a BASI instructor in 2001. Since then, she has experienced the power of BASI worldwide, working and teaching in London, Dubai, Salzburg, and Hong Kong whilst becoming a member of the BASI Faculty in the interim.
Barbara is the author, photographer, and yogi behind Elevate: Yoga on the Roofs of New York. Her yoga journey began in 2006. Through the teachings of Anandabhairava, she established a steady Hatha practice. Later, she graduated from Leigh Evan’s alignment-based Vinyasa teacher training program at Greenhouse Holistic and, to deepen her ongoing immersion in circus arts, Sandhi Ferreira’s Aerial Mukti yoga teacher training at Jivamukti, New Jersey. She also studied Yin yoga with Ulrica Norberg at ISHTA.

Desa Seni’s restaurant serves an eclectic Asian-Western cuisine with a focus on organic, healthy, and fresh food. Growing almost 80 percent of the produce and working with local businesses enables Desa Seni to focus on bringing great meals direct from farm to table. During this retreat, you will be served daily vegetarian breakfast and some dinners.
Aside from Pilates and yoga classes, will be plenty of time to explore the natural and cultural wonders of Bali, be it the beaches, the temples, an evening walk through the rice fields, or the creative bustle of Ubud’s shop-lined alleys.
Desa Seni’s Merapu Svaasthya spa program offers traditional and holistic treatments with Western and Eastern therapies, where healing and health are a focus, bringing together a team of specialists to restore and revitalize the body, mind, and soul. For this retreat, you will have the chance to enjoy a 60-minute session of deep tissue massage.
