Accommodation

Phlea Farm

Studios are two minutes from the sea, at Phlea Farm, Yanni’s propriety. In the middle of a small citrus forest of tangerine and orange trees, the guests can relax to the sounds of nature and enjoy the breezes. There are around 500 trees, orange trees, tangerine trees, lemon trees, guava trees, olive trees, most of which are over 100 years old.

The studios are located near an ancient well and a pond with Kois and goldfishes, offering a feeling of exotic daydreaming. Totally new studios, you will literally inaugurate them. Between minimalism, traditional, and modern, the atmosphere is Zen and unique. Fully equipped and furnished with anything you may need.

Archontiko Angelou vegan hotel

Located also in Alinda, five minutes from the sea and five minutes from Phlea Farm, hidden in a garden of 5500 square meters with over 100-year-old trees, flowers, a wine yard, olive trees, an orchard, vegetables, and herbs, each space has its particular beauty and every room is different. Rooms are cleaned and linen every five days.

Archontiko Angelou is a converted stone mansion of 1895. Initially, it was the family’s summer villa. When this listed building was converted and innovated, respecting, and uplifting the old noble style and atmosphere, it became one of the bijoux of Leros. Marianna Angelou is always glad to host retreats and take care of everything.

Program

This retreat is an opportunity to step back and observe, to merge into new habits, activities, exploring, and experiencing new possibilities of thinking and living. A retreat must be a safe, non-judgmental, warm ground, a commitment to 'hold space for others to meet the self out of the box, to allow inner rest, to cultivate awareness-mindfulness, and to bring back home precious tools to maintain a healthy and joyful life.

Yoga sessions

This retreat is an invitation for all who (regardless of experience) feel the need to reconnect, deeply rest, detox, reset, vitalize, and resource the self through a holistic approach to life. The ancient traditions, yoga - Taoism - Buddhism - Chinese medicine, offer you an incredibly wide range of techniques to work with and rise to your full potential. You will explore meditation, pranayama, asana, Kriya, Kundalini yoga, Yin yoga, and qigong.

Phlea Farm invites you to step in this process of self-nourishment, during the sacred portal which is Spring, inviting you to cleanse out stagnant heavy energy from the winter, through specific techniques, creating the optimal ground for a rebirth process. Spring is a time of celebration welcoming the return of light in terms of creation and fertility, physically, and metaphysically talking.

It is a fabulous turning point of energetic opportunity to detox your system and tune with Mother Nature which allows you to tune with your inner authentic nature. According to ancient traditions (Ayurveda, Buddhism, Taoism), nature’s cycle (seasons) is associated with the five elements. Spring is the season of renewal, growth, and expansion. Just as nature enters now into this cycle so does the energy within you. In Chinese medicine, wood represents the energy of spring.

The wood element is associated with upward movement towards the sun (fire) - activity - change - and balance and the associated organs are the liver and the gall bladder. When spring arrives, you restore, regulate, and stimulate prana, by working on the liver (yin) and gall bladder (yang) meridian pair, in order to remove congested energy, allowing so the flow of prana through the channels. Wood’s virtues let you stand tall in the present and give you the vision to move ahead in the future.

Tao, 'the way' as it is called, meaning the appropriate way to live your life, is a guide to cultivating a life of peace, serenity, and compassion in harmony with the life force of the universe. And that is what they invite you to experience through natural farming activities and yoga, which both teach you how to reconnect with yourselves and with your environment in a balanced way, creating and restoring harmony (inner-outer), in order to live an authentic life in joy and health.

Philosophy and activities of natural farming

Natural farming is an ecological farming approach established by Masanobu Fukuoka (1913 to 2008). The title refers not to lack of effort, but to the avoidance of manufactured inputs and equipment. The system works along with the natural biodiversity of each farmed area, encouraging the complexity of living organisms - both plant and animal - that shape each particular ecosystem to thrive along with food plants.

Phlea’s Farm vision

Υannis, the owner of Phlea Farm is devoted to the everyday life of caring and healing the land, according to Fukuoka's teaching, transforming the tired and overused ground into its primary condition. Making clay balls, planting, creating raised beds, pruning the trees, always according to Natural Farming, but also making bread, processing fruits to make jam, collecting wild edible greens, artisan coffee roasting are some of his daily activities. He aspires to transform his natural farm into a school for self-sufficiency and a viable alternative to modern agriculture on a small scale, by spreading the knowledge about natural farming.

Philosophy and approach

Earth is your home, your body, and your temple. How you treat them is a reflection of how you treat yourself. This retreat is about reminding yourself that the essence of life is to be healthy and happy in order to enjoy your journey. By reconnecting with yourselves through yoga and through a tangible everyday connection with Mother Earth, you realize that you are part of nature’s cycles, not separated, not independent, not autonomous, but constantly influenced affected, and interdependent by the perpetual changes around you, the spiral movements of existence (seasons, astrological rhythms, temperature, geographical location, and so on).

There is a deep, absolute, and indestructible interconnection between you, your system, as living beings (microcosm), and the existence around you (macrocosm). This connection is usually lost or not enough nourished, so life instead of being a celebration, becomes a conflict, a challenge, an effort, and that state usually leading to an unhappy - unhealthy life. Only by restoring this connection, you can reach peace.

Yoga means union, the union of the separated self from his nature and from nature, his home. The comm-union with yourselves with your surrounding and with all that leads you back to your core. From that space, you can live in harmony and deal with life’s challenges in a creative (not destructive) and wise way.
