Join Peter Guinosso Yoga for a special yoga retreat with optional rock climbing, hiking, nature immersion, meditation, camp fires, kirtan, and star-gazing in sacred Joshua Tree National Monument outside of Palm Springs. Joshua Tree is well known for its awe inspiring natural beauty and wildlife and provides a perfect place to practice yoga and get reconnected to nature. We will spend a day exploring and soaking in the Deep Creek Hot Springs. The retreat begins at 2 p.m. on Wednesday May 27th and ends 12 noon Sunday May 31st, 2015. Massages will also be available and Scott Fin Photography will be sharing photography lessons for an additional cost.
Day 1: We will go on a refreshing 90-minute photo safari in the small canyon behind the Indian Cove campground, where we will learn and practice some basics of photography like how to use your camera on different settings and modes, metering and the three components of exposure: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO; a few guidelines of composition: rule of thirds, leading lines, lens choice, perspective, etc.
Day 2: We will go on a glorious 90-minute safari in an area yet-to-be-determined. We will review the first day, cover a few different types of photography (portrait, landscape, macro, and abstract), and learn about editing and post-production tips and tricks. It is advised that participants bring a bottle of water, a notebook and pen, and a camera: iPhone, Droid, etc., an SLR, a DSLR, or a point and shoot. A small, environmentally friendly-ish packet of information covering these topics plus some of Scott's personal photography tips and tricks will be provided.
Post-retreat: Scott will continue to provide online help, support, and advice.
Cost: 2-day workshop, 3 hours in the field is 50 USD.
Two distinct desert ecosystems, the Mojave and the Colorado, come together in Joshua Tree National Park. A fascinating variety of plants and animals make their homes in a land sculpted by strong winds and occasional torrents of rain. Dark night skies, a rich cultural history, and surreal geologic features add to the wonder of this vast wilderness in southern California. Come explore for yourself.
