You will be staying at the Pelan Pelan Retreat, Bali for this surf and yoga retreat. It features 9 rooms, situated around a large outdoor swimming pool in the middle of a stunning Balinese garden on the river. It has plenty of peaceful spaces where you can relax, sip on fresh juice or have a cold beer and meet other people from around the world. There is free Wi-Fi in the lounge area and all the rooms.

Solo Travelers (dorms or single rooms)

Pelan Pelan is the perfect spot for solo travelers in Bali, with both (luxury) single rooms and a shared room available. The shared room is shared with two other guests. The super comfy single beds are fitted with high-quality mattresses and the bathroom is semi-outdoor style.

The suite rooms are very comfortable and stylish with Bali-style décor and either a queen-size or an extra separate bed available on request.

Two rooms are located on the second floor by the pool and overlooking the garden, and the other one is located on the lower terrace by the river. The beds are fitted with a comfortable mattress, and the room has a terrace and a tropical semi-outdoor bathroom with an outdoor shower.

Surf

Your mornings will be spent discovering nearby surf breaks in comfortable, air-conditioned cars. The head coach will decide the location the night before based on the conditions and your level. Surf in Bali is very consistent so you are pretty much guaranteed to get wet every day. Each surf coach only looks after two guests so you will get plenty of waves and lots of coaching!

Massage, yoga and meditation

This package also includes three Balinese massages per week, three yoga classes, as well as a meditation session with one of Pelan Pelan's amazing teachers in a joglo-style yoga shala. The shala is located in a peaceful riverside area and is the perfect location to enjoy yoga in Bali. You will be on a journey of peaceful relaxation in no time.

Sample schedule

Below is a rough schedule of your week at Pelan Pelan, but things will be kept a little bit flexible so you can take time to relax, read a book, lie by the pool and hang out! You will also have time to explore nearby Canggu in your free time. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants, markets and shops to discover as well as some great spots for sundowners. Pelan Pelan Team is happy to recommend their favorite spots to you!

For those who want to get a little bit cultural, you can take a bicycle and bike around our village surrounded by rice fields, and experience some real local Bali life. On Wednesday afternoons, a tour of some nearby temples, including the famous Tanah Lot temple is organized.

Mondays - Tuesdays and Thursdays - Fridays

It’s the weekend! Maybe you’ve been wanting to relax by the pool after the jam-packed surf lessons or a long-haul flight. Maybe you’d like to go on a day trip exploring the island or shopping in one of Canggu's many boutique stores. Or if you want to lounge on the beach and sunbathe - do as you please.

Retreat location

This surf camp and yoga retreat will take place just outside the busy Canggu, Bali, Indonesia. Bali is an island of Indonesia. It's mostly Hindu and becoming more and more popular. The beautiful rice fields, mountains, and beaches make it a heaven for people loving nature. Besides nature, it's also a hotspot for artists, hippies, surfers, hipsters, celebrities, and the rich. Each village and area attract its own people making it possible to see Bali from a lot of different angles.

The area around the retreat, Cemagi, is known for its excellent surf, beautiful nature, and peacefulness. It is a nice getaway from the crowded areas in Canggu and Kuta, which are more hectic and include a lot of tourism and partying. It's the friendliness of the locals that make a lot of people want to come to Bali each year. Pelan Pelan Bali finds it important to involve the local traditions and lifestyle in the retreat. Doing so creates an environment in which you can learn from them and they can learn from you resulting in a lovely experience for everyone.

The price includes daily yummy and healthy breakfasts and homemade Indonesian lunches from Monday to Friday. Free coffee, tea, and water are provided as well. The common area by the pool is where your breakfast and lunch will be served. As for dinner, you can explore nearby cafes and restaurants, or order in. You will also be able to purchase refreshing fresh juices, fresh coconuts, Kombucha and cold beer and wine!

Healthy tasty food at Pelan Pelan

You will be introduced to Indonesian cuisine in its purest way. Healthy, tasty food is an important part of a good relaxing holiday. Every morning of every day (4 am), their Indonesian chef Kis takes a trip to the traditional market to find the best and fresh ingredients for your traditional Indonesian meals. And that's what they serve daily! Fresh vegetables, free-range meat and eggs and rich, flavorful Indonesian herbs.

What sets them apart from other places in Bali is that they serve only Indonesian food for lunch. Their healthy retreat menu focuses on freshness and flavor. The food is one of the main reasons guests come back to Pelan Pelan. They have vegetarian and vegan options, gluten-free, and any other dietary preferences.
