Kalani Oceanside Retreat offers accommodations to suit diverse preferences and budgets. Their rustic accommodations are simple, outside-in spaces that offer comfort and tranquility. Angular octagonal or pentagonal structures are a contrast to box-based architecture and invite a departure from routine.

Their accommodations are not equipped with heating or air-conditioning, as Kalani is situated on the east coast of Hawaii Island, benefiting from the persistent east-to-west Pacific trade wind flow. Windows in the accommodations are screened, maximizing airflow and views, and there are no phones or televisions in the rooms.

The bungalows are located on Kalani property and are free standing structures that have high, slanted ceilings and tall screened windows. Bungalows house up to two guests and each room contains one queen bed and one twin bed, private bath, mini fridge and offer views of the jungle or pastures. Rooms are approximately 225 square feet and are less than a 5 minute walk to the training practice space. Roommates will be assigned if you are coming by yourself.

Hale lodges

The lodge rooms are located on Kalani property and are housed in three two-level lodges or Hales (pronounced Ha'-lay, Hawaiian for "house") and have several rooms on each floor with access to common areas on both levels. The lodges are on the central lawn and are very close to the Dining Lanai and a 5 minute walk to the training practice space.

Triple, double, and single occupancy rooms are available. Rooms are approximately 200 square feet with twin, queen, or king beds, shared or private bath, fan, and a garden view. The private bathrooms have 1 bathroom right in the room and the shared bathrooms have the bathrooms outside of the room, down the hallway. Roommates will be assigned if you are coming by yourself and registering for any of the multiple occupancy accommodations.

Peak Beings tackles the learning process using many different approaches, such as communicative, contemplative, and experiential. They welcome students who are looking to teach yoga or those who are just looking to deepen their practice. In addition to learning to guide a yoga class, the training covers many other topics, including yogic philosophy, history, meditation, and chanting.

He is currently based on the island of Oahu in Hawaii and has traveled and taught yoga to adults and children in many locations outside the U.S. including Costa Rica, Norway, and Thailand.

Seafood is often served at dinner (chicken and beef are served occasionally), and vegetarians are well cared for.

Any special dietary requirements must be confirmed with your booking through Kalani lodge as they must order your food in advance. All food is prepared and served with the spirit of Aloha.

Kalani cuisine encompasses a variety of styles including Thai, India, and Italian, and their chefs have extensive training and a common interest in creating healthful and delicious meals. Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Hilo Airport (ITO). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request.

Arrival by bus

There is a Hele-On county bus that leaves from downtown Hilo. This is a slow but inexpensive (2 USD each way) option that comes right to Kalani if you can coordinate your arrival schedule with the bus schedule. You will have to take a taxi from the airport to the bus stop (15 USD). Please plan for enough time to retrieve your bags from baggage claim and to get a taxi outside and take the 10 to 15-minute taxi ride to the nearest bus stop (Prince Kuhio Plaza - Ohuohu Street).

The bus will be like an airport shuttle vehicle and will have the word "Kalapana" highlighted above the windshield. The Hele-On bus drops off at Kalani three times per day, Monday through Friday, and two times per day on Saturday. Note that there is no bus on Sunday. Also, note that the Saturday schedule is different than the Monday through Friday schedule per the Hele-On website.

You can check out the bus schedule on the Hele-On Bus website and look at the Pahoa/Pohoiki - Hilo Routes. When looking at the schedule, Kalani is located between Pohoiki and Sea View Estates. Please make sure to contact the bus company directly to see if there are any local holidays on your arrival day and/or if the bus schedule will be impacted for any other reason.

  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.

"I am forever grateful. I cannot begin to convey my gratitude to yogi Troy for such a wonderful yoga teacher training. The teachers were supportive, thorough, and encouraging. The environment was fun and challenging. Questions and discussions were welcomed. From the first day, we were learning how to speak, think, and assist as a teacher in a safe way. I feel that all elements of yoga were introduced from asana to meditation, business, chanting, and even the importance of listening. Being in Hawaii provided the most beautiful and awe-inspiring setting one could ask for. This is more than a style of physical practice. It is a style of teaching that helps you and your students to take ownership of your practice and your life."

"I cannot go on enough about how wonderful the teacher training with Peak Beings was! I had recently (a month prior) been certified in Hot yoga, and at the end of it, I felt so hungry for more. I felt unbalanced and that I had not received the "full experience" so to say. I did a little research, and after talking to Troy, I decided to do an additional training with Peak Beings. This program was the perfect balance between body, mind, and spirit knowledge, and Troy's approach is truly universal. I am so grateful for the experience I had there and have been able to move forward with my yoga teaching due to the exceptional training I received. I would recommend this program to anyone."

"Peak Beings changed my life! I expected this experience to give me the skills necessary to be a good yoga teacher, but I left with so much more. The facilitator was direct, knowledgeable, humble, caring, intentional and relaxed. His humor lightened our spirits and created a safe space for our group. Our morning yoga practice was a wonderful blend of strength, sweat, meditation, breath and awareness. Through exposure to different yoga practices including yin, vinyassa, tai chi, anusara, and others, I feel better equipped to teach people from all different yoga backgrounds and experiences. This journey not only left me equipped to teach yoga but also gave me confidence and a higher sense of purpose. After taking the Peak Beings yoga teacher training, I move through my day with greater consciousness and am incorporating yoga into my life on a deeper level. I feel motivated and inspired. I feel awesome."
