Online Yoga Teacher Training

This 200-hour online yoga teacher training is based on Peak Beings' normal 25-day yoga teacher training that they typically offer in Bali and Thailand. In 2020, the Yoga Alliance made a provision to accept yoga teacher trainings that are given online. They have continued this provision indefinitely after seeing how beneficial it has been in increasing the available options for people wishing to further their practice and potential teaching with yoga teacher training. So this online yoga teacher training is certified through the Yoga Alliance and exceeds the Yoga Alliance standards. The content you will receive and the virtual experience you will have will be as close to Peak Beings' normal in-person yoga teacher trainings as they can make them.

Program

Pre-application requirements

A minimum of one year of yoga practice is required in order to qualify for this training. You will also need a computer with a stable internet connection in order to access the online training platform and live sessions that will be used for this training.

Certifications

Students who complete their training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

How the training works

There will be a total of approximately 160 virtual contact hours, composed of approximately 130 hours of pre-recorded videos and 30 hours of live sessions. Self-study hours will be a total of approximately 40 hours where you will work on your own or virtually with other students that are doing the online training. There will be a total of approximately 75 individual recorded video sessions, ranging from 20 minutes to 1 hour (1.5 to 2 hours for recorded asana / posture sessions).

The training will use a combination of the online training platform “Teachable” and “Zoom” video conferencing. The trainings are relatively self-paced by day for the virtual recorded sessions. There will also be two-hour live sessions via Zoom with the Director of Training two to three times per week in the 4 Week training. Peak Beings will do its best to accommodate as many students online as possible by coordinating and scheduling the ‘live’ sessions based on the different time zones for students all over the world. All live sessions will also be recorded and viewable at a later date if you are unable to be available for the live sessions.

All 200-Hour Unified Yoga Teacher Trainings™ are guided by Troy McPeak, E-RYT. Yogi Troy has directed over 60 yoga teacher trainings under the Unified Yoga philosophy. The 200-Hour Unified Yoga Teacher Training™ curriculum exceeds the 200-hour standards set by Yoga Alliance, and every student graduating from our programs will be eligible for Yoga Alliance membership and international teaching qualification.

You will leave this training with newly acquired confidence in yourself and your teaching. Upon completion of the training, you will receive a certificate qualifying you to be a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. The training is primarily Vinyasa-style, but it will also cover a variety of other styles throughout the training, including Yin, Power, Restorative, Hot, Iyengar, etc.

Timing of sessions

The training is broken down by (Day 1 to Day 25). The training is relatively self-paced by day for the virtual recorded sessions with two-hour live sessions via Zoom with instructors two to three times per week.

Course information

This training will take place in the comfort of your own home. You will need a computer or device with a stable internet connection in order to access the online teaching platforms that will be used for this training. The majority of yoga posture classes will be recorded for you to take when you can, as Peak Beings understands that having the space to do this can be challenging depending on the time of day. When you have the live sessions, it may be helpful to have enough space for a yoga mat, but it will not be absolutely necessary.

The 200-hour online yoga teacher training is being offered in multiple months this year. As noted above, the online yoga teacher training is relatively self-paced, but it will be following a similar format as if you were doing one of Peak Beings's in-person yoga trainings.

Peak Beings hopes that each student is able to keep up with the pacing of the daily schedule in order to maintain the group continuity, but if for some reason you are unable to complete the training during the indicated dates, they will allow some adjustments to allow students to interact throughout the different trainings (immersion or extended).

There will be a two-hour virtual welcome meeting on the start date of the training, and then the actual training content will start the next day (Monday).

Online trainings are limited to 10 people, so the teachers are able to focus their attention on your individual experience and provide you with the attention you deserve throughout the training.

Peak Beings thinks you will see that the online training program is set up to be a great educational experience. You will have the opportunity to review videos, press pause, take notes, and practice/study when it works best for you throughout the day. You will also be able to receive individual feedback from the Director of the Training based on the video submissions of your teaching, which is nearly impossible to do "in person" for 15 to 20 students on the level that you will receive it online.

The training is relatively self-paced by day with the pre-recorded sessions. In “in-person” training, it can also be challenging to take thorough notes throughout the teaching sessions and lectures. With the online platform, you can take your time and be on your own schedule.

The approximately two-hour live sessions with instructors will happen two to three times per week in the immersion trainings. The team will do their best to coordinate a time based on all the time zones of students all over the world to accommodate as many students online as they can, and all live sessions will be recorded and viewable at a later date if you are unable to be available for the live sessions.

The yoga teacher training will provide:

  • A creative, fun, and supportive environment to develop self-awareness and discovery
  • Exploring yoga from Eastern and Western views and keeping a "real" perspective
  • Teacher training manual (300+ pages)
  • Design and teach a 1.5-hour yoga class
  • Post-training support via email/phone and assistance with contacts for teaching positions
  • Ability to review videos several times and take notes
  • Assistance with marketing yourself as a teacher (goal of paying off your training within one year)
  • Detailed examination of anatomy, alignment and safety in postures
  • Strengthen communication skills for developing the teacher-student relationship as well as personal relationships
  • Exploration of various forms of meditation
  • A stronger body, a stronger mind, a stronger you!
