A yoga holiday offers you the healthy opportunity to relax, unwind, and rejuvenate your body and mind. Enjoy the flexibility this package can give you by taking classes as and when you want. Peace Garden offer a variety of yoga, pranayama, and meditation classes to suit the customer's needs. Participants from all levels of experience are welcome.
Start your morning with an invigorating Ashtanga led class (modified) or a Vinyasa flow class and then after spending the rest of your day in the sunshine continue to unwind for the evening with a nurturing slow flow or Yin yoga class as you watch the sunset over the Arabian Sea from the beach front shala.
The program of classes has been devised to help you build strength and flexibility in your practice, to help purify the body, balancing your energy, grounding you, and regenerating you into a pure bliss.
In this dynamic, physically demanding led class, you will practice a set sequence of yoga postures, synchronizing the breath, and movement to produce an internal heat designed to purify the body. The primary series of Ashtanga yoga, with its many Vinyasa, is great for building core strength and toning the body. The series is modified and variations are given to suit yogis of all levels.
Vinyasa is literally translated from Sanskrit as meaning “connection”. The Vinyasa flow classes synchronize movement and breath in a continuous flow of poses, usually beginning with sun salutations. Vinyasa classes are energetic, creative, and suitable for all levels, with variations and modifications offered throughout the class.
Slow flow classes are light and creative, but slower paced and gentler than Vinyasa classes. Postures are generally held for longer periods, and the transitions between are a little slower so, yogis of all levels can sink a little deeper into their practice.
Yin yoga classes are slow paced and clam in style. Postures are held for a much longer period of time with the focus on floor based postures. You will target the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, tendons, and fascia, to help improve flexibility and create the feeling of space and freedom in your body. You will leave the class feeling amazing. Yin yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular styles of ‘Yang’ Vinyasa flow classes.
Meditation and Yin classes incorporate Yin postures to open and relax the body before you move into a guided meditation to calm and still the mind. The class concludes with a grounding yoga Nidra (yogi sleep) and long peaceful shavasana. These classes are suitable for all levels of students.
Pranayama is the formal practice of controlling the breath, which is the source of the prana, or vital life force. It is said to help purify the blood and the respiratory system. The deep breathing enriches the blood with oxygen. It is as important to the practice of yoga as asana or meditation for balancing energy and stabilizes moods. Pranayama offers similar moments of presence and focus as meditation, making it a worthy substitute for those times when you just can’t calm your monkey mind.
Yoga Alliance RYT 200 (Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga)
Yoga has been part of Anna’s life for over nine years. She began her practice with Hamish Hendry in London to help relieve some of the stress of working for many years as a performing arts teacher in inner city education. Anna believes the discipline and routine of yoga practice can bring clarity of mind, energy, acceptance, balance, and peace within. She feels the yoga practice helps everyone learn to accept themselves while one grow and removes the obstacles that obscure who they really are. She has completed a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification in Ashtanga, Vinyasa flow in 2014.
This retreat will take place in the tranquility of little known Talpona Beach, tucked away in the very south of Goa, India’s most friendly state. The beach here is one of the most peaceful places in Goa. Situated between the beautiful and equally-unspoiled Galgibaga (Turtle) Beach to the south, and the mouth of the Talpona River to the north, you will find yourself in a true haven and find your accommodation which is Peace Garden Resort.
Just five minute walk away, there is a small port where the fishermen will happily ferry you across the river at a small cost to Ragbag Beach, where you can walk onto Patnem Beach which is more populated with beach hut resorts, shacks, and small high street. A further 20-minute walk along the coast from Patnem, you will go through the village of Colomb. It is the once small fishing village of Palolem. Now, the village is busy with clothing and souvenir stalls, restaurants, and nightlife.
It offers a hectic change to Talpona. Although, Goa is also a little more than its beaches with a long history as a Portuguese colony evidenced around the state with its preserved white washed 17th century churches and the area’s tropical spice plantations.
You will be served two meals a day that include brunch and dinner. To start your day, herbal tea, breakfast tea, hot lemon, coffee, and fresh fruits are available before your first morning class. After your morning yoga session, a varied and healthy buffet brunch awaits you. The buffet includes fresh fruit juice, fruit salad, porridge, homemade yogurt, muesli, local bread, eggs, and Indian inspired vegetable dishes.
There is time for you to relax now. You can relax in Peace Garden's chill out area or on the beach. A wide selection of snacks, salads, super juices, and smoothies are available throughout the day at the restaurant. For dinner, you can choose from the multi cuisine ala catre menu which includes salads, Indian, Nepalese, and European influenced dishes.
