Centrally located in Kapsali Bay, within 5 minutes walk from Zidoros and close to the beach. Family run apartments, carefully selected for their cosy ambience, cleanliness and spectacular sea views. All apartments have a fully equipped kitchen and private bathroom. You will have the option to choose a single, double or twin room. If you are happy to share with another yogi, please let us know.

Yoga is more than a system of physical exercise. It is a practice that extends into and enriches every area of your lives. Going on a retreat gives you an opportunity to deepen a practice which integrates your bodies, minds, and spirits. After the success of the previous season, Parkolife is pleased to re-launch the "I Love Yoga" retreat in Kithira.

With love as the focus, you will strengthen your yoga practice and dive into its holistic benefits, to bring transformation to your body, your emotions, and your day-to-day life.

On the mat, you will

  • Connect body and breath using pranayama techniques
  • Access the power of the interior locks or bandhas to maximize the physical and mental benefits of the practice
  • Connect the individual asanas in flowing and fluid sequences of Vinyasa flow

Off the mat, you will use the practice as a jumping off point to expand your understanding of, and capacity to receive, love. As you experience love in your life, you become aware of what is possible for yourself, and of the potential that opens up when you connect fiercely and tenderly with others.

These retreats take place on the island of Kithira, known in ancient Greek mythology the birthplace of Aphrodite, goddess of love. Its tranquil coves, clear waters, and laid back community make it the ideal place to explore the different aspects of love. Every retreat includes plenty of free time to soak up the environment of this beautiful island and explore its landscape and wildlife.

This retreat is for women and men. It is suitable for all levels of yoga that is for those with some experience of yoga or a perfectly beginner, who are willing to explore more advanced poses.

The yoga practice

On this retreat you will be channeling the grace and clarity of the island you are on, and its mythological connection with the goddess Aphrodite, to find an open-hearted simplicity and inner balance.

Core strength is an integral part of a solid yoga practice, that when tapped, engages the muscles of the spine and the inner muscles of the pelvis, allowing you to lift yourself off the ground, elevating your practice, and creating a centered body and mind. It is the foundation of the strength and body awareness that will allow you to safely work into postures like headstand, tripod headstand, and handstand.

Forward folds in yoga stretch the hamstrings and calves, expand into the inner spaces of the pelvis, and elongate the back muscles in a balance of strength and surrender that calms and quiets the mind. You will also use targeted movements to strengthen the muscles within the shoulder region all work together to create a stable foundation for a sound and continually progressing asana practice.

In details

This retreat explores love in its widest and most universal sense, for those wishing to bring more love into their practice. Yoga sessions are designed to get your healthy body back, balance your hormones, stretch you out, and allow you to feel more open.

You will become more flexible, remove the tension in your muscles, and make you feel more free in your own body. This new flexibility will then help to influence your attitude towards daily life. Open body and an open mind!

Yoga nourishes you on every level. It is equally important to feed the body, mind, and spirit. So, during the retreat, you will concentrate on the practice of asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breath control), and dhyana (meditation).

Through the use of the Hatha yoga system, you will begin or continue your yogic journey, so that you can experience feelings of total well-being and release those feelings of happiness, love, laughter, harmony, and fun. You will also work towards life’s true success, which is that of a peaceful mind. You will discover love as a manifestation of the second and fourth chakras, and as a foundation of yoga as a practice and of your relationship with your mind, body, and spirit.

You will be building core strength, forward folds, and inversions, including work towards more advanced asanas. You will return to your daily routine relaxed, renewed, and with a sense of inner peace and deep love for your self, your life, and those around you.

Typical day at retreat

The retreat follows a structure designed to bring maximum benefits for your practice. Days begin with breathwork followed by a light breakfast before your first yoga session. A healthy brunch is served, before free time to relax and explore the island. Read, spend time on the beach, or enjoy your local surf station. You will be also offered excursions to visit local sites of interest and learn more about the history and culture of Kithira.

Your evenings will include a range of workshops allowing you to explore different aspects of your experience, and connect your physical practice with your emotional journey, as well as fitness classes and workshops on palmistry and caviardage. Parkolife encourages you to listen to your body on retreat and no activity is compulsory. If you prefer to rest or spend time alone at any point, please ask.

Prior to your arrival, you will be given a full morning to night itinerary listing the entire detailed timetable. In addition to the yoga program, enjoy your first evening opening ceremony with live music, followed by dinner. This is the perfect opportunity to meet with the rest of your group.

Friends, partners, and families are more than welcome to come along even if they do not practice yoga. Parkolife will make a special price for them without including the yoga lessons price and they will be able to do all sorts of activities while you are practicing. Parkolife is also able to assist you with all onward travel at the end of the retreat.

Included excursions

Each day you can choose to relax alone or to follow the group excursions around the island. The excursions are in different beaches, such as Avlemonas, Diakofti, Lagada and Likodimos. On Wednesday the daily excursion is in Agia Pelagia and Karavas Bakery.

If Chiara drew a picture of herself, she would be in a standing warrior pose. She is strong, but her arms and heart are wide open. These days, Vinyasa yoga and Hatha yoga become the two main areas which she practices and teaches. If you have also gone through a big life event or you are feeling the call to make a change, to grow into the person you are meant to be in order to tap into your dreams, reach your goals, and transform your life, then Chiara would love to work with you.

‘Life is wonderfilled, to experience yourself and people sharing their uniqueness and wisdom, this is a gift and being present my practice’. For the past 20 years I have been on the path of practicing, studying and sharing a state of ease, grace, authenticity and presence mainly through the art form of Capoeira, with Yoga and Freestyle Chi Kung as my close companions. After dedicating more time with Yoga I became a certified instructor in 2015 and became a co-owner and instructor of a Yoga Studio in Boston.

Retreat location

Near the picturesque village of Kapsali, that are visible from the Castle of Chora, are two twins sandy bays. The smaller one consists of small rocks and is quite remote, while the other one offers a refreshing swim at the beautiful crystal waters. Kapsali is one of the most popular beaches of Kythira lined with restaurants and cafes. Due to its safe and pleasant environment it is quite ideal for families and children. Visitors are amazed by the stunning mountain backdrop and the cosmopolitan atmosphere. The rocky islet of Avgo can be seen offshore, forming a strange shape, reminding of Uranus genitals, thrown by Cronus in the sea from which Aphrodite roused. The locals claim that it is the birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and desire.

How to get there

There are a lot of ways to come to Kythira. To choose your way to Kithira, read here what Andrew Bostock from The Telegraph wrote about it:

“Kythira can be troublesome to get to, a positive advantage in the perfect island stakes. It is not close to any of the better known islands, lying on its own at the bottom of the Peloponnese peninsula. You can fly there, but only on local flights, and the familiar UK package tour is unknown on the island. The best way to arrive is by boat. This can be done, rather indirectly, from Athens or, more pleasurably, from the little southern port of Neapoli, after a journey that can take in some of the delights of the Peloponnese itself”.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Athens International Airport (ATH).

Arrival by ferry / boat

By boat from Piraeus.

By car up to Gythion and Neapoli Lakonias and from there again by boat.

If you come from Crete you can take the boat in Kasteli of Kissamos (district of Chania).

Furthermore, there are flying dolphins departing from the port of Piraeus.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 20% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 31 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
