This yoga holiday in Peru will take you to many ancient ruins, from the Incas and those that came before them. With the energy of their architecture surrounding you, yoga practices will reflect this ancient wisdom or Sabiduria, the wisdom that endures. You will gather to practice some of Hatha yoga ancient techniques and explore the outer landscapes of some of the most remarkable remnants of the civilizations of the past, as well as explore the inner landscapes of your body, mind, and soul.
The hotel is a mid-range locale that is fairly simply decorated and clean. The double occupancy rooms feature two beds and a private bathroom and the single occupancy rooms have one bed and a private bath. While it is an easy walk to the town of Pisac, about 10 minutes there are also small cabs available as well.
Yoga with Mary each morning will prepare you for your daily adventures from the inside out strengthening, stretching, breathing, and being present. You will also have breathwork and guided meditations.
The adventure begins with an introduction to the history and cosmology of the Inkas, then a sound healing to bring you into alignment with your journey together.
The next day, you will visit Ollantaytambo, an Inka fortress and strategic archaeological center, as well as the Moray salt mines, to give you a flavor for nature and people who still protect this enchanted land. It will be an easy day, giving you time to acclimate your body, mind, and spirit to this blessed opportunity.
The next days will be spent exploring many of the surrounding ruins from Sacsayhuaman and other significant temple sites, and of course Cusco, the center of the Incan Empire. The guides will show just how this civilization was created and destroyed.
Then you’ll be off on a scenic bus and train ride to the unforgettable Machu Picchu. Upon your return to the Sacred Valley, you will have time for some spa services or healing ceremonies if you like, as well as time to explore the local market and one more of the sites near the hotel.
You will end the program with a Despacho ceremony to close the week together and bring peace home.
Mary has practiced yoga since 1990, and has taught since 2002. Her teaching is grounded in the classical tradition of Hatha and Tantra, incorporating a deep knowledge of anatomy and bio-mechanics, yogic philosophy, and practices, which she applies individually for each student. She teaches the balance of strength and flexibility, and guides her students to connect with their inner teacher, the wisdom and light that is within us all.
This holiday will take you to several locations including Sacred Valley, Cusco, and Machu Picchu, Peru.
Daily breakfast, two lunches, and one dinner are included in the price. While a breakfast that includes juices, coffee, tea, bread, eggs, and cheese is included daily, each of the venues you stay at has an onsite restaurant and can make accommodations for a vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free diet. For the meals that are not included, there are a number of choices in the Sacred Valley that reflect the location near one of the main growing valleys near Cusco.
