Mary has practiced yoga since 1990, and has taught since 2002. Her teaching is grounded in the classical tradition of Hatha and Tantra, incorporating a deep knowledge of anatomy and bio-mechanics, yogic philosophy, and practices, which she applies individually for each student. She teaches the balance of strength and flexibility, and guides her students to connect with their inner teacher, the wisdom and light that is within us all.
Cristyna was first introduced into yoga 10 years ago and began teaching in 2019, after graduating from Mary’s 200-hour YTT program. Cris’ teaching is rooted in the Hatha yoga tradition with a focus on slow, mindful movement, pranayama, and creative transitions. You will leave her class feeling grounded and connected to the mind, body, breath, and spirit. With the use of props and modifications, Cris reminds her students that yoga is meant for everybody and every body. “You do not have to be anyone other than who you are, right now, in this moment.”
Prepare to go inward and activate your awareness. Recently trained by Mary Byerly, Auri brings unbridled enthusiasm as she applies Hatha/Vinyasa/Tantra yoga principles to facilitate a full- body healing experience. Balancing ease and effort, she works to activate her students’ inner creative warrior and help reconnect them with their inner knowing, all while building heat and having fun! She prioritizes breathwork and will leave you with strategies for coping with stress, anxiety, and fear. Prepare to have the Auric experience: aura cleansing, loving-kindness, tapping in, and letting go.

If you know your asanas, want deeper knowledge about yoga, meditation, energy flow and how it all works together, then go to Panacea. Small class, we had 4. Mary has a well thought out plan for each day., She owns and lives there, with 2 other partners. She is a wealth of information, very yoga educated and an experienced yogi, gentle soul, and has high expectations for students in understanding of materials. I learned more than expected and changed my way of thinking. It is not an easy program, Long warm days, so pack loose fitting and shorts. Lot’s of outside showers, restrooms, a nice swimming pool, fans , large covered quiet practice structure in the trees. We saw monkeys but heard them more! Meditation, breath, asanas, the body, and the teachings of centuries are studied. Yes,Sanskrit! You will teach poses, and a full class. On mountain side, views are great; uphill path 10 min to cabins. They are nice, big tile shower, small refrigerator, coffee/tea maker, big windows, big fan, nice porch… no bunk beds here.. I enjoyed a private cabin due to small class size. Food is very good, and Deb will cater to you needs. They will fetch for you from town, get it on your way from the airport. You will be in a yoga ‘bubble” no tv, put your cell phone away, internet is there, but only available near the pool. So, “check out of the world outside” and take advantage of this opportunity. It will change your perspective and you’ll learn a lot.

"Want an authentic YT training experience? This is your place"
I highly recommend the training with Mary. I looked at many other trainings in Costa Rica and elsewhere. I made the right decision going to Panacea. She limits her course to less students ( than other trainings) for good reason. You definitely get lots of individualized attention. After doing her training I'm convinced many of the other trainings are just cranking grads out potentially without the same care that is the holistic and nurturing approach of all the staff at Panacea. Mary is leading trainings with the intention, care and authenticity to what yoga is...
This was life changing, Mary is an excellent mentor; she will be there to meet you at where you are at in your journey.
Debbie's food is amazing. I had concerns switching from mostly Paleo diet coming into the training because of some food intolerances. I was well fed and they were extremely flexible to my needs. Both Peter and Debbie were excellent supports to myself and my fellow students. One student ended being sick with respiratory stuff for most of the training. they helped with multiples trips to see doctors, pick up prescriptions for her. These people care and you will not want to leave lol. One of my favorite things was being handed fresh cut fruit for the mini fridge in my room. There is also a coffee maker. Sitting out watching the sun rise in your cabina hammock with coffee and fresh fruit before morning practice...just... I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to have this experience.

"Best decision I ever made"
Mary was the instructor and she was kind, gentle and knowledgeable about yogic philosophy, anatomy, pranayama and Asana. The food was fresh and delicious. The cabins were clean and roomy. The pool was clean and refreshing. The people were amazing and my experience as a whole was beautiful. Would recommend to everyone. I definitely chose the right place. Loved every minute of my experience.
