Palace Gokbel is a perfect choice, if you are ready to start travelling again. With only 6 rooms, you can still keep practicing your social distancing. Outdoor dining, has at least 2 meters between tables and sunbeds are over 2 meters apart too. Plus, lots of little spots just to yourself and a massive natural olive garden with hammocks far apart. Even the lounge area is outdoors and yoga takes place on a massive outdoor terrace. Most retreats have no more than 6 guests at once and there is no sharing rooms. Palace Gokbel is a bespoke, private wellness retreat, situated high up on a mountain, nestled in a pine forest with stunning panoramic views and sunsets over Iztuzu beach. An idyllic place to practice your yoga in the most beautiful location, chill out in the ancient olive garden, swim in a natural rock pool, and detox the body and mind. There are just 6 ensuite rooms, meaning the retreat remains peaceful and quiet, homely and intimate. During this retreat, you will stay at Palace Gokbel, Turkey. Palace Gokbel is a bespoke yoga retreat, nestled in a mountain, surrounded by natural pine forests and olive trees. The architecture of the building took inspiration from India, the home of yoga. The roof terrace has been dedicated to the practice of yoga as it is a vast space with incredible views.
There are three twin rooms, two double room, and one single room with small double bed. The twin rooms have beds that can be pushed together for couples. All rooms are air conditioned and come with a luxury shower room, complimentary toiletries and television. The view can be appreciated from all guest rooms, the pool area, seating area and outdoor restaurant. You can experience the most beautiful sunsets over turtle beach, the lake and mountain ranges.
All rooms are decorated in gold and white to create a classical yet relaxing atmosphere and furnished with natural fabrics to keep things light and cool. Tea and coffee facilities are located near room five, underneath the arches whilst room six has its own tea and coffee making facilities. Palace Gökbel can accommodate ten guests at any one time ensuring the experience is both intimate and free from overcrowding.
Morning yoga lasts for 120 minutes and takes place on the dedicated outdoor yoga terrace. You start with a meditation or breathing exercises, followed by a warm-up or core exercises.
You will practice Vinyasa yoga on 3 days, which combines flowing movements with some longer holds. It is a graceful discipline synchronization in order to maximize the benefits of the practice. On the other days you will do, Hatha, Acro, Ashtanga, and Primal yoga.
After yoga is a healthy version of the Turkish breakfast, plated and served in the shaded picnic area. One day during the week, you have the chance to do a yoga fast, where you won't eat until dinner time.
On three days, there are optional workshops, Barre Pilates, pi-yo, dance. On the other days, you will have the chance to go on beach excursions and visit the angel healer. Lunch is a smoothie in the lotus lounge area.
In the afternoon, you will practice Yin yoga, which will take place on the roof terrace and lasts 75 minutes followed by 30-minute personal relaxation. Yin yoga is a slower-paced yoga, which allows staying in a posture for a long period of time, letting gravity do its work, and really relaxing into the position. The calming nature of Yin yoga will help you to relieve tension and is an ideal way to calm yourself for relaxation and sleep.
You will enjoy a 3-course evening meal, with complimentary drinks, served on the wine terrace looking out at the stunning sunsets over the water, the perfect way of rounding up the day.
For hygienic purposes, you are advised to bring your own yoga mat but if you don't have one, each room has a spare.
Times can vary slightly depending on the time of year and sunrise and sunset. In the summer we start earlier to make the most of the shade created by the pine trees and in the winter we wait for the sunshine. A typical week
Palace Gokbel offers two free beach excursions during your stay (end of April to September) One is to a local beach, a small turquoise bay, where you get your own sunbed and parasol. There is a restaurant, farm shop and outdoor sports there too. The other is to the famous turtle beach, which the retreat looks down onto, where you can walk and swim and visit the turtle hospital. (October to april, a visit to iztuzu beach and turtle hospital and a trip to the local town and market.)
Naomi has over 10 years of teaching experience and follows a yogic lifestyle. Qualified in the UK in both yoga and pilates and has a background as a fitness professional. She spent a year studying under a guru and is always striving to improve her abilities as a teacher and progress on her own personal yoga journey. She practices every single day and would love you to come to join her, people would describe her as patient and attentive to individual needs. The retreat is located in a small village, 10 kilometers from Dalyan, five kilometers from the beach, and 30 minutes from Dalaman Airport (DLM). Palace Gökbel is a small exclusive retreat, located in the traditional Turkish village of Gökbel which overlooks Turtle Beach, the lake, and the Dalyan Delta mountain ranges. Palace Gökbel is privately owned place with a committed husband and wife team who try and make your stay as relaxing as possible.
Dalyan town is blessed with many geographical attractions you can explore, including the Lycian Rock Tombs, Lake Koycegiz, the ruins of Caunos, the mud baths, and natural sulfur springs.
Gökbel is also famous for turtle beach, a protected area, where the Carretta turtles come to lay their eggs. The beach itself is sandy with shallow warm waters and is just five kilometers away from the retreat. Another beautiful cove close to the retreat is Asi beach with rougher turquoise waters and a cafe overlooking the bay.
During this retreat, you will be served three-course evening meals in front of gorgeous sunsets, using locally sourced and seasonal food. Palace Gokbel takes inspiration from a variety of cultures, including Turkish, med, Indian, Asian. Lots of diets are catered for but you'll also have the chance to experience palace gokbel's raw and vegan food which they specialize in. They offer complimentary Turkish wine and beer with the evening meal. For breakfast, they go Turkish style but pick out all the best bits to offer a totally healthy version of this classic. At least one day of the week you will be offered a fast where you will only have the evening meal. This is complently optional, about 50% of guests do it. Smoothies and snacks are provided for lunch and mountain spring water, herbal tea, Nescafe and soup and fruit are available all day and night for you to help yourself in the outdoor lounge area.
Top of your list must be a visit to our angel reader, 400 TRY for over 2 hours with her. She comes highly recommended by past guests, about 80% of guests visit her, including Naomi (yoga teacher). A boat ride is a lovely thing to do too, from a short trip on the rowing boats over the river to a 12 island all day tour, there is something for everyone. 50 TRY - 500 TRY.
There are many turkish hamams to choose from in dalyan. Past guests have really enjoyed the foam massage and aromatherapy massage but there are many treatments to choose, prices from 50 TRY upwards.
The beauty salon comes highly recommended, the owner is lovely and the premises spotless, she speaks good english. Past guests have had manicures, pedicures, wax treatments, facials and brows done, all have been extremely impressed and thought her excellent value for money. Prices start from 30 TRY.
Guys, if you've never visited a Turkish barber, then it's a must do while you are here. Great value from 25 TRY and lots of pampering. Also there are two mudbaths in the area.
