Yoga teaches us the importance of the flow in our lives. It teaches us to listen to ourselves, to find the inner balance and quiet. Yoga enables us to embrace our life and to look at it in a positive way. Nowadays yoga is starting to become considered a primary vehicle for the wellness programs because of its ability to promote health and healing at physical, emotional and spiritual levels.
Everyone can do Yoga. Yoga practices every part of the body by stretching and strengthening the muscles, the joints, the spine and the entire skeletal system. The Asanas (postures) also benefit our internal organs, glands and nerves. They contribute to the health of the entire system by releasing physical and mental stress. By doing so, Yoga energizes the body and calm the mind. The philosophy of Yoga is not in dispute with any religion or belief and every person can engage in it. It’s a beautiful practice and a wonderful way to connect with ourselves, others and the environment.
During this retreat, you will enjoy private Asthtanga-Vinyasa yoga lessons. You will be given personal, intensive attention. A consultation will be held with Dikla, our instructor, to discuss your personal needs and what you would like to focus on making it more suitable for your body type. Correct breathing exercises (pranayama) will be taught for your individual personality type.
Lessons are given on the beachfront and at our Shala deck, shadowed by flamboyant trees and whispering coconut palms. We wish you to know that we are not a strict yoga retreat, our intention is to offer you the possibility to practice yoga and meditation, at any level, followed by a professional teacher, while being on holiday on a tropical island.
You can simply opt to do yoga, sunbath, snorkel, swim, walk on the beach, hang out in a hammock between classes or you might combine your yoga lessons with kitesurfing choosing between our beginners course or one-on-one clinic lesson to enhance your skills and still there is time to go on excursions, take a walk into the Jozani tropical forest, visit a spice farm, swim with dolphins, explore Stone Town - certainly one of the most important historical places in eastern Africa.
The atmosphere is relaxed, not as intense as at a yoga retreat, and it is a great place to meet other like-minded people. About 50% of our guests are solo travelers while the remainders are families and couples.
On food we are flexible, from our menu a la carte you can choose a variety of dishes vegetarian and not. We also offer wines and beers and coffee and tea. Whatever food you will choose we cook it in the most wealthy way. Responsibly, we do not use with palm oil. In our kitchen, you will only find extra virgin olive oil and sunflower oil.
Paje By Night offers three rooms category all overlooking their verdant tropical garden: the Standard Bungalows, the Concept Bungalows, and the King Size bungalows.
The Standard Bungalows feature a queen bed or two twin beds. These rooms are not very large but they all have en-suite bathroom with hot shower and ceiling fan over the bed. They can sleep a maximum of two people.

If you cannot cope well with the heat, Paje By Night will definitely recommend you opt for a king size or a Concept bungalow. Free Wi-Fi is available in the restaurant, bar and swimming-pool area.
The Concept Bungalows bring the unique decor and style of the public areas of Paje By Night into each of them and in fact none look the same: colors and design always differ. If you have a preference for one of them please let them know at the time of booking. If possible, they will be happy to assign it to you - but no guarantee! Private lessons are the best way to be introduced to yoga. On the other hand, if you are not new to yoga but need to improve, private lessons offer the best opportunity to deepen your knowledge of Asanas. In other words, private practice allows each of us to develop and progress at our own pace while being given personal, intensive attention. During a private class, the Asanas are adapted to the practitioner and given as a set of tools that will help maintain proper practice even at the end of the vacation. You will be taught how to practice correctly in a safe, injury-free manner.
Since the focus is exclusively on you, private practice is much more intense. For this reason, this yoga holiday consists of one lesson a day, morning or afternoon. Each class lasts 90 min and focuses on Ashtanga-Vinyasa Yoga. The Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga includes all fitness components in one work out. It strengthens the body from its natural state through balanced and harmonious work.
In Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, the breath is deep, long and active (Ujjayi Pranayama) resulting in an increased range of movement, muscle extension, and flexibility of the joints. In every class, we focus on the 4 elements: Banda (contract), Pranayama (breath), Vinyasa (flow), Drishti (focus).
Morning classes will take place on the open-air terrace at the beachfront or at their Shala deck, shadowed by flamboyant trees, and whispering coconut palms overlooking the lush garden of Paje by Night. Afternoon classes always occurs at the Shala deck in the garden.
Dikla is a certified yoga teacher with over 15 years experience in teaching. Her classes embrace all aspects of yoga, including the yoga philosophy. She started practicing in India in 2003, and since then, she never stopped to teach and study yoga. She teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa, Ashtanga-Vinyasa flow, and yoga therapy. She studied and practiced with Swami Omesh-Yogi, Gilad and Miri Harovi, Dr. Gil Solverg, James A Marks, David Swenson, Danny Paradise, John Scott, Maty Ezrati, Richard Freeman, Chuck Miller, Laruga Glaser, and many more.
The price includes daily breakfasts (gluten-free breakfast available upon request at the time of booking). On food, they are flexible, from a la carte menu you can choose a variety of dishes vegetarian and not as well as wood-fired pizza. Alternatively, you can fly to Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) and then fly or take a ferry to Zanzibar.
