Lydia Chang is the co-founder, creative director and principal teacher for the regularly scheduled weekend retreat and signature yoga vacation at Origin Yoga & Wellness. In 2014, she traveled to India and completed the 200-hours teacher training with Patanjali International Yoga Foundation. She dedicated herself ever since to the practice, study and teaching of yoga. While rooted in classical Hatha yoga, Lydia continued to deepen her practice and expand the scope of her studies in Ashtanga and Ayurveda yoga.
Zen Master Chang
Zen Master Chang has been practicing, studying and teaching meditation for over 25 years. With a deep understanding of Buddhist scriptures and Dharma philosophy, he approaches meditation as practice to cultivate wisdom, peace and happiness through an understanding of one's true self. He is also the father of Origin Yoga & Wellness' co-founders Lydia and Edward and is a source of inspiration behind it. Zen Master Chang is always happy to enrich visitors with insightful wisdom and spiritual guidance.

"A Unique Getaway Experience for Urban Dwellers "
The location of the retreat centre is unique. You will not find it elsewhere in big cities. The interior is cozy, calm and clean. The room has a great borderless ocean view from the northernmost part of Taiwan.
The second thing I like the most is the food. I've been doing the ovo-lacto-vegetarian diet for 4.5 years. Sometimes people would ask if I would get bored by eating vegetables all the time. The answer is definitely no. If you have tried the food here in this retreat centre, you may have an urge to become a vegetarian yourself too. The ingredients of the meals were fresh and delicious. You could also try some typical Taiwanese food here.
The yoga classes were not demanding since it is a relaxing retreat camp. The focus was more on pranayama and meditation, drawing from outward asana practice to inward awareness.
I particularly like the teaching session of Zen Master Chang and the Excursion to a "secret" place. The consultation with Zen Master Chang made me feel like every trouble in my life has been solved and made clearer.
The yoga teacher, Lydia, was also friendly and helpful. Since this is my first solo trip to Taiwan and there were some problems with my airline, I got a bit anxious about catching my flight. Lydia helped me reserve a cab and suggested some places for sightseeing. These helped settle my nerves.
All in all, I would recommend this trip to anyone who is from a big city and would like to get some calm and peaceful moments to reboot your mind.

"Amazing and unforgettable experience "
The arrangement of Lydia was perfect and she has been so caring and helpful to each of the participants. The programme design was able to cater for the needs of individual participants and served the purpose. Lesson from Master Chang has been insightful and made me revisit what I could do further in my life. Edward is definitely a good chef - we cleared everything on table!!! Overall, an unforgettable experience with participants from across the world. Will definitely visit again ~!

"Perfect wellness retreat to reconnect"
Everything about Origin Wellness was simply wonderful! Lydia was professional and communicative from the very first time I messaged to inquire about booking the weekend. She was able to personalize my retreat for dates that worked for me. Airport pick-up service was convenient. The location is gorgeous - right on the beach in an old abandoned resort complex that they've slowly been renovating. All of the food was absolutely delicious! I loved that all meals and snacks were included. Lydia's brother, Edward, is an amazing chef. The other staff, Valerie and Clare, work hard to make you feel comfortable and they are so friendly and loving! The accommodation was nice - very simple, minimalist, and clean. Lydia helped me arrange 2 ayurvedic spa treatments which totally enhanced the experience. She also arranged a private excursion as well as a consultation with Zen Master Chang. I also enjoyed the mindful walk (even in the rain!), as well as morning silent mindful breakfast times, while also having some free time available. The trip to the hot springs was also enjoyable. On my last day the sun was shining so we did yoga on the beach! Overall it was an incredible experience, the yoga was great, and the entire 3 days really focused on wellness. It was exactly what I needed to relax, recharge, and reconnect with myself. I really didn't want to leave! Lydia has a real gem there and I encourage anyone to visit. I would easily go back again and again...looking forward to it!

"First time yoga and meditation retreat"
The overall trip was wonderful and exceeded my expectations. I arrived and was caught off guard by the abandoned building, however, quickly began feeling at home with the beautiful scenery and facility renovations. The staff was so warm, inviting, and caring, they provided the perfect environment for my getaway. I enjoyed learning new yoga and meditation techniques and practices, Lydia the instructor was so patient and provided excellent guidance. The food was absolutely delicious, chef Edward was a genius with his creations (I especially enjoyed his dipping sauces). I would highly recommend this retreat and will be back again in the near future.

"Very insightful weekend"
It was a great place to connect with myself and learn about meditation. Lydia was an amazing host, and went above and beyond. The food was AMAZING! And the itinerary was really well designed to give enough time to myself.

Origin is a magical place...Lydia and her family open up the space they've created to gently share their philosophies on living a well life. With amazing ocean views and housed in an abandoned holiday site - there is ambience and a wabi sabi kind of beauty.

"Awesome yoga retreat with amazing hosts"
I had a great time at Origin Yoga & Wellness. I did the 6d5n yoga retreat and I don't regret it. Lydia, Valérie and Edward took great care of me and took into account my special requirements, I was very touched. The yoga and meditation sessions were the perfect mix of relaxation and exercises. Lydia adapted all the postures to my needs. I had great fun with Valérie and the other guests when we went on the different excursions. Each meal was a pleasure for the eyes and for the stomach, there were absolutely delicious. All in all, I experienced what I was looking for, a peaceful, fun and relaxed time :)
