Amar Family House

Amar Family House, a homestay and yoga shala, is located in the center of Vashisht, a lively village in the Kullu Valley, “Valley of gods”, about three kilometers from Manali. From here, it is a two-minute walk to the hot springs, temples, shops, and rooftops. Many walking paths start here, up to the waterfalls, many apple gardens, and the other villages. The family house offers double rooms with attached bathroom and toilet. From every room, you have a great view of the mountains. The sound of the Beas river is constantly rushing below.

Standard hotel

Upon arrival, you will stay in a standard hotel in Delhi for one night and on the last day, you will be provided with a room for a shower and change.

Camping

You will stay in tents while trekking with full porter service and kitchen team. You will also be provided sleeping bag and boiled water while trekking.

During the retreat, you will stay in a family house or hotel in the Vashisht village, Manali and practice yoga, meditations, and have some walks to some beautiful and interesting places. The trek to the holy mountain lake, Bhrigu, allows you to dive in the pure and impressive nature of the region. However, the itinerary for trekking can be changed depending on the weather conditions.

Daily schedule

Day 1

You will arrive in Delhi, reception at the airport, and transfer to hotel. You will stay overnight in hotel.

Day 2

You have time after breakfast to relax or do some sightseeing around Delhi. There are many options such as visiting the Red Fort, the Jama Masjid Mosque, seeing Old Delhi by bicycle rickshaw, walking in Lodhi gardens, shopping at Sarojini market, and much more.

In the early evening, Open Lotus yoga will drop you to the overnight bus to Manali. They suggest an early dinner or late lunch since you will be transferred from the hotel to the deluxe Volvo bus around 17:00. The bus provides bottled water and blankets and they stop for a late dinner around 21:30 and 22:00. There will also be additional rest stops on the way to Manali. The bus journey takes 12 to 14 hours.

Day 3

You will arrival in Manali at around 08:00. From here, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel or family house four kilometers up the road in the town of Vashisht. You can rest and relax or take your toiletries and towel and head to the local temple to bathe in the deliciously warm natural hot springs, wash away your travels, and nourish yourself in these especially healing waters.

After that, you will enjoy lunch at the Ram Family house. After lunch, you will have a short orientation talk. In the evening, you will meet the Indian yoga teacher at the yoga shala. You have dinner and stay overnight in a family house or hotel.

Day 4

At 07:00, you begin your yoga, pranayama, and asana practice for two hours. The breakfast will be served at 09:30. After breakfast, you will join the guided walk to Jogini falls. These are beautiful waterfalls about an hour along the wall of the valley from Vashisht. These falls descend from high above and run into the Beas river below. In the evening, you will take a meditation class. You have dinner and stay overnight in a family house or hotel.

Day 5

At 07:00, you begin your yoga, pranayama, and asana practice for two hours. After breakfast, you will visit the village of Goshal, Old Manali, and the beautiful Hadimba temple. Hadimba temple is about one kilometer from Manali and it is very old and surrounded by the tall cedar pine trees on the edge of Dhungri village.

According to legends, Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers, fell in love with an aboriginal woman named Hadimba, the sister of the local chief by the name of Hadimba, and married her. In your own time, you can take a rickshaw back to Vashisht. You have dinner and stay overnight in a family house or hotel. In the evening, you will be provided a meditation class.

Day 6

Yoga will start at 07:30 until 09:30. This day is a free day, where you can do your shopping and explore the local rooftops. Around the temple, there is always something to experience. Ask the guide to take you one more time for a walk. Vashisht has many gardens and beautiful paths to admire. In the evening, you will practice the yoga and meditation. Dinner will be served at the family house.

Day 7

At 07:00, you begin your yoga, pranayama, and asana practice for two hours. The breakfast will be served at 09:30. After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to visit several villages. You will walk up along the valley to three distinct villages that dot along the Beas river. You will visit the village of Burwa, Shanag and Goshal and stop for tea at a local family house. After dinner, you will take a meditation class. You stay overnight in a family house or hotel.

Day 8

After early breakfast, you drive to Kulang village about seven kilometers from Vashisht. From Kulang, it takes four hours to reach the jungle camp 2700 meters away. On your arrival at the camp, you are welcomed with a hot lunch. In the evening, you will enjoy pranayama and meditation. Dinner will be served in camp and you will sleep in tents.

Day 9

After early breakfast, you will head to Bhrigu lake, which is about 4200 meters trekking, and spend some time by this holy lake. Any person who does not want to go for a long trek can go to Pandurupa which is three hours from camp or can stay relax in the camp. Dinner will be served around the campfire and you will spend the whole night in tents.

Day 10

You will enjoy the yoga class in Jungle camp and after brunch, you trek back to Vashisht. This takes about three to four hours. You will take breaks along the way. On your arrival in Vashisht, you can enjoy the hot springs. Dinner and night staying will be served in a family house or hotel.

Day 11

At 07:00, you begin your yoga, pranayama, and asana practice for two hours. The breakfast will be served at 09:30. After breakfast, you will have free time to relax, enjoy the hot springs, schedule a massage, or do a little exploring on your own. In the evening, you can enjoy Kirtan, music, and dance with the local villagers. Dinner and night staying will be offered in a family house or hotel.

Day 12

At 07:00, you begin your yoga, pranayama, and asana practice for two hours. The breakfast will be served at 09:30. After that, there will be a farewell and closing circle. At 17:00, you will be transferred to the bus stand in Manali to take Volvo bus to Delhi. This trip takes about 12 to 14 hours.

Day 13

You will arrive in Delhi around 07:00. You will be transferred to the hotel and have free time to do sightseeing or shopping in Delhi. At the appropriate time, you will be transferred to the international airport. Rooms will be for day use only.

In the fourth day, you will take a short trek to Jogini falls. After the breakfast of the fifth day, you will visit the village of Goshal, Old Manali, and the beautiful Hadimba temple. The sixth day is a free day for you so you can explore Vashisht as much as you want. The village of Burwa, Shanag and Goshal, will be your destination for your trekking of the seventh day. In the next three days, you will trek to Jungle camp, Bhrigu lake or Pandurupa, and finally back to Vashisht and enjoy the hot springs.

    Master Rajeev Bhardwaj has grown up with yoga and Ayurveda, which he learned from his father and grandfather. He is an expert in meditation, Pranayama, and a Reiki healer. He is a very nice and inspiring teacher, who guides you gently through your yoga poses.
