Yoga Retreats (16)
My first experience in Yoga comes after 15 years of entrepreneurship in Canada. I went to a Bikram Yoga class with a discovery intention and ended up emotionally attached to the practice. The effect might be due to the 1h30 of heat in 6 months freezing city, however, I am deeply convinced that the real reason behind this connection is the similarities between the Bikram essence and the entrepreneurial spirit. The intensity and effectiveness of the Bikram class has the magical effect of washing out the brain and cleansing the heart; it is draining and energizing at the same time.
Aurelie M. Scally
After seven beautiful years spent in Paris and Casablanca as an art journalist, I discovered yoga by meeting the man who is my husband today. Therefore, my first contact with the discipline was through Bikram. Within the practice, I could find the precision and concentration of my youth’s dance classes. Then, comes Savasana, the final meditation that adds some magic to these genuine moments of happiness. Following two years of intense practice, I gave way to the temptation of undergoing a rigorous training to be able to teach and open a yoga studio.
From an early age, yoga was part of Gabe Scally’s life. Having spent his teenage years in yoga studios in Casablanca and Montreal, Gabe has a strong understanding of the business development and management aspects of the wellness industry. Graduate of a business school, he deepens his knowledge in the world of yoga by training in Power Yoga and Yin Yang Yoga in France in 2017, and the method of Bungee Workout in 2018. He has been teaching at Om Yoga for three years. Since the summer of 2018, he has managed the studio Om Yoga Casablanca, aiming to combine a career in the wellness industry with
After studying international communication, Valérie naturally turned to a career in the business world. At age 38, she took her first yoga class at the Om Yoga studio, which she describes as a love at first sight. Two years later, she attended Hatha Yoga training with Noah Mc Kennah and took the opportunity to give her first classes in the studio. A revelation: giving lessons gives her as much pleasure as taking them! She followed that with a second training in Yin Yoga and decided to stop all other activities to focus solely on yoga. Valerie loves to dedicate her passion to beginners to whom
Ana Ilieva Andonova
Ana discovers yoga as she builds her doctoral thesis to compensate for an intense intellectual life. After a degree in Philosophy, complementary studies in Antropology and Archeology, a doctorate in History of Science and a Master in Languages and Philosophies of Antiquity, she found in yoga an art of living that will mark her destiny. She has been practicing since her first Ashtanga Yoga Mysore style class. She has studied with teachers such as Nicholas Paul Evans, Elena Figarola, Radha and Pierre Seghir, and for the past ten years she has been working with her teacher Peter Sanson.
Kenza spent much of her childhood in classical dance classes in Casablanca and then continued her studies in Paris with studies in Psychology. Passionate about music, nature and animals, she explores a new form of sensitivity with yoga. In July 2017, she became certified in Hatha / Vinyasa Yoga Teacher in Costa Rica. In her classes, Kenza values a practice that is physical, psychic and spiritual. A moment dedicated to letting go and re-connecting with oneself for all people being in a perspective of personal evolution whatever their level of practice.
Graduate in business management and passionate about marketing and communication, Farida first worked as a consultant for many public and private Moroccan or international organizations. For more than 12 years, she headed the sales and marketing department of the multinational DHL in the Maghreb, a major participant in its growth. Citizen, passionate about ethics, Farida is involved in many causes: humanitarian, social, environmental. Her passion for dance and the arts gives her an active lifestyle and a constant search for well-being.
For 15 years, Noha has been teaching the laws of physics to her students at the American School with passion and enthusiasm. She draws her energy from sport and thrills, from climbing and parachuting to motor bikes. For 9 years, she has found another source of energy and motivation: yoga; discipline as physical as spiritual. As a yogini apprentice, Noha develops her passion first with AirYogalates Aerial Yoga training and then AshtangaVinyasa training with All Yoga in Bali. Her goal: to share the benefits of yoga: balance, energy and concentration, especially with her young students.
After 5 years of daily practice, Nadia went on her first 200-hour Hatha Yoga training in Bali. She was then trained in Aerial Yoga techniques by the Canadian Geneviève Berube, co-founder of the AirYogalates method. It is in France that she will be certified by Yoga Alliance, in Power Yoga, Core Yoga, and Yin Yoga.

Fettoum el Houari
Graduated with an MBA specialized in Communication and Media, Fettoum is passionate about advertising and activities related to brand communication. After a few years in communication agencies, working hard, she decided to listen to her friend and try a yoga class. A first experience in a Bikram yoga class that gave her the taste of happiness of this discipline. After more than 2 years of regular practice, at age 33, she decided to spend 2 months in the original country of yoga, India, for a 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training.

"Best idea ever to go to Casa to Om Yoga Retreat"
Top!!!!

From day one Doug was responsive and always around if I had a question or needed some guidance. Gabe was extremely helpful as well during my stay. I would absolutely recommend OM Yoga. I loved being able to practice different styles of yoga that were offered, the teachers were extremely knowledgeable. Anyone who is looking to get away, relax and dissolve themselves in yoga, this is the place!

This place is really special. They met me with breakfast when I arrived and the room was really nice. It is super clean and the yoga studio rooms are big and open. All the teachers were great and you got to know some of them as they live and eat there too. "Home away from home"
Nabil and Aurelie welcomed me at their yoga studio in the Anfa neighborhood of Casablanca, which is very close to the beach and nearby shopping center. The experience was amazing, starting from great, Moroccon food to a wealth of yoga and pilates classes (Bikram yoga, Aerial yoga, wall yoga...just to name a few) with excellent teachers. If you are looking for a place to unwind but still close to the beach and shops and restaurants, then this is your place to go! After seven days of yoga retreat, I was well rested. I will definitely be back!

"Hidden gem. Everything you expect in a retreat and more "
I stayed at the villa last week and cannot recommend the place enough. The rooms are clean, studios are large and airy and the best part is the staff and teachers are all wonderful.
The classes are regular and very varied. All the teachers put their heart and sole in to the classes and help beginners like myself.
Nothing was too much trouble for the manger and anything I wanted was arranged.
The villa is in a great location and close to the surfing and beach. Nothing was any trouble for the staff and I was made to feel at home.
The yoga was very varied and a big thanks to Mariana (beautiful job) and Yulia who helped me in and outside the classes.
Last but not least the food is to die for. Varied, healthy and so nice.

The Om Yoga villa was quiet and peaceful and felt unique to the region. The home cooked meals were quite good and the instructors and manager felt like friends. Amine, the manager, was very willing to show us the city, which was something we were interested in. I loved all of the yoga classes as well, especially the aerial restorative!

This may have been my first Yoga retreat, but I was planning my next one on the day I arrived. Time spent on this retreat was exactly the tonic I needed; it was divine. The classes encouraged me to push my body to its limits and the meals were utterly delicious.
Doug was an incredibly helpful and attentive host (as was every single member of staff) and I felt fully supported and safe during my stay. My one regret was that I could only spend 3-nights at this establishment. As soon as I'd gotten into the rhythm of things, it was time for me to leave. I was surprised at how sad that made me feel.
This will not be my last vist to Om Yoga.

"Oasis Away From Home"
This retreat was exactly what I was looking for. It was the perfect escape in a safe environment where you could do as little and as much as you would like. I had opted to add cooking classes to my package and was very pleased to spend some quality time with the cook and learn a mix of different recipes. Every day, a delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner were served family style by the pool.
The yoga classes were extremely varied and were taught by high class instructors who really took the time to explain things well. Classes welcome yoga enthusiasts at all levels and I would definitely recommend guests to try as many of the classes as possible.
Even prior to my arrival, during the planning process Doug was extremely helpful in answering all of my questions in regards to the trip. I was even more pleased to meet him in person as he was the one waiting for me at the retreat upon arrival. He was just as helpful, friendly and welcoming in person.

The classes are very diverse, so you will have the chance of trying some yogastyles that you never have. This was very nice.
The classes are unlimited, which means you can do as many or as few as you would like.
What really made this trip was definitely some of the sweet staff at OM, who really welcomed me and provided guidance, service and friendship.
The host-couple took me and a teacher out for a wonderful dinner.

"A perfect, sunny, relaxing way to start my holiday season! "
Om Yoga Casablanca was my first yoga retreat and detox experience. Words that jump to describe this experience include: very enjoyable, relaxing, sunny, tasty traditional Moroccan food (and I also enjoyed the detox juices!), amazing like-minded inspiring people, large variety of yoga classes available and the possibility to do-what YOU want to do.
At Om Yoga everything is possible, you just need to ask. You set your schedule, whether you just want to chill by the pool, sleep all day, take 5 yoga classes per day, visit the Mosque, take the cooking classes, switch from cooking to detox, the staff is extremely flexible and willing to work with you to make the most of your retreat. We had an amazing group of yogi’s who all arrived around the same time and did many things together, but nothing was a must it was all about going with the flow. About the yoga: there are 3 different rooms where yoga is taught. The rooms all have wooden floors, windows, heating and yoga equipment (you can borrow mats and towels). They vary in size, one looks out over the pool and gets great morning sun (I enjoyed the 7am yoga classes here!), another is where hot power yoga and Birkam are taught, and the third one is the smallest and it’s where there is wall yoga. On average I did 4 classes per day and enjoyed trying different styles such as Yin (all about stretching), Bar, Wall and Aerial (such an amazing class) and Pilates. I recommend trying all available classes and then going back to your favs!
from Norway, April 2017
"A very good yoga retreat "
The quality of the yoga lessons were very good, and you could choose between several different kinds of yoga lessons every day.
from Great Britain, April 2017
I really loved the concept of a yoga studio rather than simply a yoga retreat. Om Yoga offers various types of yoga that's open to the rest of Casablanca. The owners were always trying to please me as well - and as I was the only one there I felt more like an extended part of the family - which made my stay feel the more special. It was my first 4 day detox experience - and as pleasant a detox experience as one could expect! I was constantly distracted by the classes (yoga and non-yoga) that I could take, combined with the visit to the third largest mosque in the world, walks on the beach front or to the mall which were nearby. Classes to note are the aerial yoga (using hammocks), TRX and yoga barre. There are the usual other classes you would expect as well (ashtanga, bikram, vinyasa, yin etc.)

"A peaceful getaway in Casablanca"
For tourists who come to Morocco after a long-haul flight to explore exotic Moroccan cities and at the same time, to practice Yoga abroad like me, Om Yoga Casablanca is a good start for their travels before moving to Marrakech and any other cities in Morocco. The best thing of Om Yoga studios is that they provide diverse yoga classes from Yin, Hatha, Vinyasa to aerial, wall yoga, standing up paddle yoga, etc., which I might need to register for more than 2 studios in case I want to takes all those classes in other countries. Unfortunately, I could experience only a few, different classes because I stayed there for 4 days in low season including weekend. But still, it was good stay there. Manager, Amine and instructors took good care of small group of us with considering individual needs and as we were a few, there were quite enjoyable mealtime conversations in a more tranquil and intimate atmosphere everyday. I wish I could take various classes intensively from Monday to Friday if I have a chance to come back there again in high season.
Thank you for your care, Amine, Mariana, Yulia and Om Yoga team.

from United Kingdom,
I had a fantastic week at Om yoga. The variety of classes was amazing. I tried Hatha, Power yoga, Bikram, Ashtanga, Pilates and Yin. There were also specialist classes that I did too such as TRX, aerial pilates etc. Really good energizing classes and all the teachers were very professional and helpful. The classes are taught in French, but most teachers speak enough English to explain when they need to. Everyone is incredibly welcoming and friendly. The accommodation is good too. I stayed in a shared room which was very comfortable and clean. There is a pool, although it was too cold to go in when I was there. Also did the cooking classes with Omar. Got some fantastic recipes and cooked tagines, couscous etc. All round I think it's 10/10 for me & I will definitely go back, and recommend it to yoga friends.
In an ideal world I would live at a place like Om Yoga Casablanca. The family run studio offered me a 4 day retreat which was exactly what I was looking for. The vegetarian meals were freshly prepared and filling (salads, soups, vegetable tagines). They also make their own cold pressed fresh juices, granola, and energy bites (all of which I tried and enjoyed). The courses offered at the studio varied in intensity and type (Yin Yoga to Bikram Yoga to non-yoga classes like TRX) and as someone on a retreat you have access to any of the courses they offer. I took around 10 classes in a period of 4 days. I appreciated being able to set my own schedule (unlike some other retreats where you are restricted to their schedule). One afternoon, I left the studio to visit a hammam. Another day, I left to visit the Hassan II Mosque and go for a walk in the city. The villa itself is beautifully decorated and a peaceful space. It's a 10 second walk from your room to the classes. Internet was great (something I don't often expect when traveling especially in that part of the world) and cooking classes (also in the studio) offered a nice break from all the yoga! I would return with friends in a heart beat!!
The week spent at Om Yoga Casablanca was a real treat! The variety of classes offered was great, the food was delicious, and the accommodation was very comfortable. The owners were so hospitable and helpful with everything! I felt right at home after just a week and have already recommended Om Yoga Casablanca to friends. I'm so grateful to have had such a great first long yoga retreat. Thank you!
Francisco and Maria
In short; great great place, even greater people and very high standard yoga classes. Yoga instructors are really professional and accommodate the instruction to the level of the student so everybody is getting to their best during the class. It is mainly in French but, as promised, with explanations in English if you require it. The place is clean, neat and cozy villa where you share your time with other students or students from Casablanca who are attending classes. There are two main common areas for that and the yoga rooms for instruction are of the highest standard. Food is mainly vegetarian with fish and chicken (as promised), cooked Morocco style and served in generous portions. The result is super-tasty (including breakfast which is also great!!!). Last but not least, it would be very difficult to find better hosts than Lily and Nabil. They are not only great managers and outstanding yoga instructors but take all kind of efforts to make you feel home while you stay in the retreat. They could not be a more helpful and nice couple and they have a wonderful team of people to take care of you and the resort and make your life easy and your stay unforgettable. We are missing them already. Nabil and Lily, thanks a lot !!!
from United Kingdom,
My time at Om Yoga as absolutely incredible. Gabe and Hadoosh took care of my every need - the facilities were peaceful, modern and comfortable. The classes were fantastic and even when in French the instructors made every effort to give me a little extra attention. The food was delicious - there was so much care and attention given to ensuring I was comfortable for all of my stay. The surfing was excellent, so much fun and an easy walk along the beach front. I can’t say enough good things about Om Yoga and the people that looked after us while there. It was such a necessary break for me, and it was exactly what I had hoped for. Namaste Gabe and Hadoosh!!
In short: the yoga classes were great in English, good in french (majority of classes and with little promised translations) but the rest is a money machine. They do great marketing but the product - a retreat experience is lacking quality.
In more Detail:
In my evaluation you have to separate between yoga classes and accommodation / hospitality.
The Yoga was good to very good, but the majority of classes are in french which is not necessarily indicated on their page. The teachers do not really translate a lot so be aware of it.
Accommodation would be 1 point.
- The one private room that they have on side is definitely overpriced.
- The walls are wet and moldy, your glass front is facing the pool but also can be looked into from the reception. my clothes in the closet were wet every morning as the humidity in the house is so high.
- There is no specific guest area, so you eat at the reception if it rains or at a big table outside where the owner couple had their business meetings.
- The pool is in front of the reception and the yoga room.
- The food was most of the time nice, but varied in quantities and variety a lot.
- The service was sometimes friendly but not really accommodating. You felt more as a guest that is disturbing their routine, especially coming from the host.
- My driver that I asked for never appeared at the airport to pick me up.
Response by Lily from Om Yoga Casablanca:
Hi Jana, thank you very much for your feedback.
First of all, I'm happy to read that the yoga classes are good, because we are specifically a yoga retreat :) Classes are both in french and English, some teachers are English speaking, just 1 only French but most of the teachers speak the 2 languages in the classes (and we have up to 10 teachers).
About the room, we were very sorry because it was raining a lot the past few weeks and as we are situated 100 meters from the sea, for sure the room and even all the retreat were very wet at this time. We are not used to have this type of weather. But we did some work and we just changed a hitter in the private room.
Of course we have specific guests areas, like the reception, a lounge space inside and a garden with outdoor area close to the pool. This is sharing areas, meaning that it can happen that people come to seat and enjoy the table or the chairs close to the guests of the retreat. This only happen when it's the classes times, as the doors are closed the rest of the time and the area become private.
As for the airport transfers, we would like to confirm that we are still offering the service however, unfortunately we never received your flight details even after we requested you to send it to us.
We are really sorry that you had the feeling that our service is not accommodating, and I hope the future will bring you more positive episodes.
