The restaurant at Ockenden Manor offers a superb fine dining experience in the beautiful new dining room, overlooking the gardens with stunning views of the South Downs National Park.

Under the expert guidance of head chef, Stephen Crane, the restaurant serves some of the finest food in southern England incorporating the freshest ingredients, sourced locally in Sussex whenever possible. Guests have a choice of fixed price menus including Stephens selected Cuckfield menu or the gastronomic seven course tasting menu. An inspired wine list complements the cuisine at lunch or dinner.

Nestling in the warm green of the West Sussex countryside, Ockenden Manor Spa has been designed to create a haven from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Purpose-built inside a 19th century walled garden, the contemporary airy structure contrasts and complements its neighbor, the Elizabethan Ockenden Manor, and shares it nine acres of parklands and gardens.

Isopod flotation

For complete tranquility and calm, nothing compares to an hour spent in our isopod flotation tank. Body temperature saltwater suspends you effortlessly, allowing every muscle total relaxation. Research shows that not only is it an invaluable injury rehabilitation aid, it relieves pain and boosts the immune system. A boon to meditation, its also proven to reduce stress, encourage endorphins, and promote mental clarity.

Ila Kundalini back treatment

Kundalini-female goddess of awareness in the form of a coiled snake-is the dormant energy in the base of the spine, which, when awakened, travels up the spine to the third eye. This leads to increased energy and spiritual enlightenment. This treatment is a back massage that is deeply soothing, relaxing, and balancing to the whole nervous system thanks to the synergistic use of an exquisite essential oil blend used in combination with ancient massage techniques and chakra healing.

Reflexology

Focusing on one of the most neglected parts of our bodies, the feet. This reflexology zone massage uses your choice of REN or ila aromatherapy oils. It will help rebalance the body by working on reflex points in the feet which correspond to the rest of your body, leaving you relaxed and helping to restore lost energy.

Bio rhythm ritual

This ritual is particularly suited to combat the effects of city life, frequent traveling and flying, and those feeling chronically fatigued, stressed, and depleted of energy. %The natural flow of the body's bio-rhythm is closely linked to the body's magnetic energy field. This electrical magnetic field is made up of positive and negative ions. %Negative ions charge the body with energy, vitality, and a feeling of wellness. Positive ions deplete the body's energy resulting in feeling drained, tired, and stressed. %The focus of this ritual is to restore the body's natural bio-rhythm and deeply relax the nervous system.

A powerful, energizing full body salt scrub kick starts the treatment, followed by a cocooning mud wrap containing high levels of minerals which, as they become warm, emit large amounts of negative ions, charging and restoring the body's bio-magnetic energy field. A soothing Kundalini back massage is then given to balance and relax the nervous system, the ritual then concludes with a facial marma point massage.

Ananda face therapy

Ananda means bliss in Sanskrit. The techniques used in this facial come from Shaman women in Mexico, who believe that the energy of light is deeply rejuvenating. %Working with marma points to open up the energy centers of the face allowing a blissful flow of energy into the body, this is a healing and reviving treatment that brings deep feelings of peace and wellbeing and a beautifully radiant skin.

All treatments can be purchased at an extra cost.

"We've just returned from a lovely Spa break at Ockenden Manor to celebrate my wife's birthday. The hotel, spa and restaurant are all fantastic. We especially liked the juxtaposition between the Elizabethan Manor House which serves as the hotel and the modern zinc, copper and glass spa which overlooks the Sussex countryside. We especially enjoyed sitting in the outdoor hot-tub in the rain! If we had one minor complaint it would be that the Spa/pool area could have done with a tidy up. We arrived at 15:00 and there were empty plastic water cups, used coffee cups and disguarded newspapers everywhere. When we left 3 hours later nobody had tidied up and the place was looking a bit of a state. Apart from that - 5 stars"

"This hotel has perhaps seen better days, but the staff are charming, service is good and everything was clean. We dined in the restaurant and the food was very good though not exceptional. As long as you require a relaxed, quiet atmosphere (I do), I am sure you will be pleased."

"I have just returned from an overnight dinner, bed and breakfast package in spa room. Set in a lovely little village, this hotel is a mix of traditional and modern. I'm pleased to have chosen a Spa Suite instead of a room in the main house as it was wonderful; modern and extremely well appointed. The views across the countryside were lovely (even on a cold February weekend) and the rooms huge. The bath was free-standing and enormous with a wet room style shower which was really lovely. The room air-con was spot on and we slept beautifully on the huge, comfortable bed."

"The spa treatment was perfect (as part of the package there was a £25 per person reduction on treatments) and the spa staff dealt with a mix up professionally and without fuss to ensure my experience was not spoilt. I was extremely impressed."

"The dining experience was quiet, relaxed and very different to anything I have experienced. The food was beautifully presented, with so many wonderful tastes, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I agree with previous posts that the wine list was expensive ."

"A relaxing weekend and a real bonus to be able to stay on at the spa the day of check out until 4pm. My only observation would be that the spa allows families with children to use the pool for short periods in the day and that may disturb some people."

"We booked a 2 night DB&B stay. We have not been to Ockenden Manor before but the website showed a sumptuous hotel and spa with lots to offer. The Hotel is oldy worldy with a roaring log fire at the entrance which was welcoming on a very chilly day. We were shown to our room (Luke) which didn't have the wow factor I was hoping for. The decor and furniture are dated, but the room was big and adequate for our stay. Although the bathroom has been updated and is big, there is nowhere to put your bathroom bits & bobs other than on the sink.. a little tricky at times. The bed was comfortable, however unless you like hard flat feather pillows, I suggest you bring your own from home. Neither myself or my husband slept well on either night with the pillows provided. The restaurant dining was exceptionally good both for breakfast and dinner, all the staff were very attentive. The wine list is extensive and quite expensive, but there are 'standard wines' available for about £40. The spa is a short walk down the drive and is very modern. The staff all very helpful and told you where everything was. Sadly the WC by the side of the pool area was out of order, and the poolside coffee & tea machine was generally out of water/milk and the hot/cold tea tap was also out of order...just little things but they are quite annoying. The general colour scheme of the spa and staff uniforms is all very beige.. as were the guest bathrobes! All in all a pleasant stay, but certainly the photo's on the website only show off the best of the rooms available which isn't a true reflection of the rooms in the main Hotel."

"The yoga retreat was perfect for me. The yoga sessions with Sal pushed me to challenge my ability but only to the right level. They were refreshing and inspiring. I loved every minute of his classes. Hotel staff were all friendly and the food was very good. Spa treatments were also good with lovely therapist Anna. Will definitely book again next year."

"Fabulous!! We stayed in Charlotte this weekend which looks out on the front gardens and although on the main corridor was very quiet. Dinner was really tasty this visit all three courses but the chocolate dessert was defo my favourite. Breakfast delicious as always and to my delight the spa has addressed the issue with locker keys."

"We have stayed before, many years ago. For a change we were not in a rush for a few days and decided to return. It was absolutely wonderful. The staff was a delight. The bar, our room, the beautiful restaurant were all perfect. Our 4-poster bed was very comfortable. The food was AMAZING. The view from the dining room was very beautiful. Would recommend to anyone. Found the post office and convenient store just minutes away. There were also many other interesting small stores and boutiques. A calming, peaceful, beautiful place."

"We stayed for one night in an executive room which was very comfortable and well appointed with fantastic views across the Sussex countryside. The hotel staff were fantastic (as you would expect) very attentive without being smothering. The spa is ultra modern and tucked away to the rear of the historic hotel. Again the staff were fantastic and the amenities superb and ultra clean. Everybody in our party (of six) had a very relaxing and enjoyable time. The food in the hotel restaurant was amazing and the service second to none. Overall we had an amazing weekend and can't wait to return and do it all again!"

"I stayed here with my partner for his birthday on 2nd July. The team at Ockenden Manor are extremely friendly, attentive and helpful. The facilities throughout the entire place are spotlessly clean, great and very well maintained, with a nice mix of 'old meets new' with the old manor house and modern spa. We booked the 'mid-week spa break' very last minute direct through the hotel website which includes b&b, dinner and spa vouchers. Very straightforward. Booked spa treatments and dinner as recommended in our confirmation and all very good. From the moment of arrival at midday, to our departure the following morning, it was the perfect relaxing luxury break for us following a week at Glastonbury! Our room was upgraded to Lily four-poster room on arrival, we were very well looked after in the spa, and had a great choice of wine and excellent food in the restaurant. Lots of nice touches such as cookies and cute china teapots in bedrooms, free wifi throughout hotel and spa, and personal waiter pre-order dinner service. We will be staying again, for slightly longer next time, and we will probably bring our dog as didn't realise the hotel has dog friendly areas and rooms. Thanks for a great stay!"

" We stayed here as a group from work as a celebration. We all had single rooms and had the taster course menu with wine. I would thoroughly recommend this. What a treat. The rooms were just lovely. Its good to still be able to have the "wow" factor these days .Frankly, I was sorry we were just there for the night. Communal areas are perhaps a little 'tired' if you want to look that closely, but really why would you both in such lovely surroundings. The taster menu and wine was just superb. We all thought we would not get through all the courses, but of course we did. What a feast! And introduced us all to some new wine. We didn't have time to try the spa but wandered down to look at it - a definite must when I go back again - and I certainly intend to. "

" We have stayed at this hotel several times, and it is always a pleasure to return. On this occasion, we were there to celebrate the New Year (2 nights - 31st Dec/1st Jan). The booking procedure was handled efficiently and in a friendly manner. The staff - both on arrival and throughout our stay - were friendly and extremely helpful; the service is not intrusive and is very efficient. The quality of the food in the restaurant is first-rate with the New Year's Eve dinner being especially good. The rooms were tastefully furnished with loads of character. I would highly recommend this hotel. "

" I am a member of the spa and also eat and stay at the hotel regularly. The spa is enjoyable in all seasons and the staff there is exceptional. They will bring you a glass of bubbly in the outdoor hot tub. You can stay in one of the four spa rooms. They look amazing although I've not stayed in one. The rooms in the hotel are more quaint and quirky, but very comfortable. The food in the Michelin starred restaurant is outstanding with an affordable wine list. "
