Ockenden Manor has 27 luxurious bedrooms in two houses set in nine acres of gardens overlooking Cuckfield Park. Charming staircases lead you to the rooms and suites in the Elizabethan manor house and beyond the walled garden in the award-winning spa lie stunning spa suites.

Program

This is a two-day transformational yoga retreat led by Meg Thompson which will leave you feeling energized, refocused, and with a new sense of calm and serenity.

Enjoy a mix of energizing daily and tranquil evening candle-lit sessions and a beautiful walk to a local vineyard.

Meg's passion for yoga and meditation began during an incredibly stressful time in her life. Turning to yoga, she felt a profound shift from feeling stressed and tense to feeling in control, with a renewed sense of clarity and perspective. Meg completed her yoga training in Bali and the UK.

Daily itinerary

Day 1

  • Arrive at 09:00 to give yourself time to be ready for your first meditation class with Meg at 09:45. Guided by Meg, you will learn breathing techniques to restore balance to your body, before moving straight into your first Vinyasa Yoga session (45-minute yoga class).
  • After yoga, enjoy time relaxing in the spa before lunch at 12 noon.
  • 2-course lunch in the restaurant.
  • After lunch, head off on a guided walk through the beautiful South Downs to Bolney Vineyard where you will enjoy a welcoming glass of award-winning wine before heading back to the Hotel.
  • At 17:30, Meg will guide you into a wonderful candle-lit Nidra yoga session (60 minutes) - a practice that releases stress, restores energy, and nourishes a sense of well-being.
  • Dinner will be served at 19:30 at the hotel restaurant - delicious food created using the finest locally sourced ingredients.

Day 2

  • You will start the day with a healthy breakfast enjoyed in the hotel restaurant before heading to the spa.
  • A breathwork session of 30 minutes, will start at 10:00 - guided by Meg.
  • Check out of your room at 11:00 but head back to the Spa to enjoy a swim, relax, or head to the gym.
  • Lunch in the hotel restaurant will be at 12 noon.
  • Return to the spa studio for an hour's Yoga session at 14:00.
  • You have the rest of the afternoon to enjoy all our spa facilities before heading home.

Included excursions

This retreat includes one guided walk to a local vineyard where you will enjoy a glass of award-winning wine before heading back to the hotel.

The retreat will take place in Cuckfield, England, United Kingdom. Ockenden Manor is a charming and tranquil Elizabethan manor house tucked away in Cuckfield, one of the prettiest Tudor villages in England.

With its history and character, the elegant sitting room warmed by a roaring log fire, and the cozy, wood-paneled bar, it's a wonderful place to escape to, and yet it is just an hour from London and 20 20-minute drive from Gatwick.

Ockenden is perfectly placed for walking the beautiful South Downs and the Cuckmere Valley, the setting for the pretty village of Alfriston. By contrast, the famous resort of Brighton with its landmark Royal Pavilion and the historic county town of Lewes is just a short drive away.

The restaurant at Ockenden Manor offers a superb fine dining experience in the beautiful new dining room, overlooking the gardens with stunning views of the South Downs National Park. Under the expert guidance of head chef, Stephen Crane, the restaurant serves some of the finest food in southern England incorporating the freshest ingredients, sourced locally in Sussex whenever possible. An inspired wine list complements the cuisine at lunch or dinner.

Ardingly Antiques and Collectors Fair

The largest fair in the South of England, the Ardingly Fair has a wonderful selection of vintage finds from the UK and Europe - it is a perfect place to while away a few hours whilst browsing for treasure.

Bluebell Railway

Travelling through the Sussex countryside on the Bluebell Railway is one of the best family days out and good for all ages.

Fish from Brighton and New Haven

Take a trip to Hove Lagoon and watch the fish land at Brighton and New Haven Fish Sales before buying the freshest, local fish and shellfish.

Gardens

Some of the greatest British gardens are just a short drive from Ockenden Manor, from Borde Hill with its renowned Edwardian Garden, Nymans with its extensive garden set around a romantic house and ruins to the botanical gardens at Wakehurst Place.

Also not to be missed are High Beeches particularly when the rhododendrons are in bloom and the vast Sheffield Park.

Glyndebourne

Glyndebourne is a lovely opera house in a marvelous setting - surrounded by fields of sheep, wildflowers, and orchids. The garden is traditionally beautiful yet imaginative and the opera is classic and stunning. A truly British experience and one not to be missed.

Hickstead

Hickstead is the home of British show-jumping with some of the oldest and most prestigious shows in the equestrian calendar and some pretty hair-raising jumps. Events run throughout the year and include show-jumping, dressage, and polo with international riders.

High Weald Dairy

Sample some of the finest Sussex cheese at the High Weald Dairy but best of all, you can spend a day learning how to make cheese! Their Brighton Blue received a gold award at the Nantwich cheese show, the biggest cheese competition in the world, with over 5000 entries vying for awards. Brighton Blue is a delicious mellow blue cheese.

Pooh Corner

Visit the inspiration for the setting for A.A. Milne's lovable bear and the real Pooh places including 100 Acre Wood and Roo's Sandy Pit.

Tulley's Farm

A very unique family day out with loads of seasonal events. Try throwing an ax, driving a hovercraft, or you could just get lost in their maze. Tulley's Farm is renowned for its imaginative approach to entertainment.

From London Victoria to Haywards Heath, it takes around 45 minutes with a further 10 minutes taxi ride to the hotel.
