Back in the Riad, you can join a cooking class to learn how the Marrakchis cook. Learn about the usage and healing power of Morocco’s famous spices and how to cook tajine, couscous, and other dishes. Help prepare the dinner for the night and enjoy the meal at the riad’s rooftop.

Day 7

Between the two-day framing yoga sessions, you will be able to enjoy this free day for yourself. Explore the city on your own to fulfill any personal desires. Relax in a traditional Moroccan hammam or Turkish bath and spa. Enjoy a massage or spend time in any site, museum, or exhibition not yet visited. You will have the sunset yoga session and dinner at Le Jardin Secret, an artful and atmospheric surrounding.

Group size

Maximum 10 persons.

Mobile / communication information

Limited public Wi-Fi is available, but there are plenty of internet cafes and each hotel has Wi-Fi.

Dressing information

The only thing that is really important, especially for women, is warm clothing for the night when going on a desert trip or retreat between November and February. A warm wool hat helps as well as wool socks. A scarf will help keep you warm at night and protection from the sun during the day.

Do not show too much skin. As conservative and Muslim people, Moroccans generally frown upon revealing outfits. This does not just apply to women, but also to men. Cover at least your shoulders and do not wear shorts. Beach outfits are inappropriate anywhere but at the beach.

What to bring

You could bring the following with you if your are concerned of getting infected with general diseases, antibacterial hand gel, antidiarrheal drugs, paracetamol or aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, antihistamines, antibacterial ointment for cuts and abrasions, steroid cream or cortisone, bandages, gauze, gauze rolls, adhesive or paper tape, scissors, safety pins, tweezers, thermometer, pocketknife, deet-containing insect repellent for the skin, permethrin-containing insect spray for clothing, tent and bed nets, sun block, and oral rehydration salts.

You can also bring a hot-water bottle, when you tend to struggle with getting warm by yourself. If you want, you could also bring your own mat with you.

Passport / visa

Travelers from most Western countries like, Europe, North America, and Australia, only require a valid passport for a stay of up to 90 days. Additional information can be found at the consulate websites of your specific country of origin. German travelers do not need a visa for visits up to 90 days.

There are no mandatory vaccinations for entering Morocco. The German Foreign Ministry recommends hepatitis A, and for longer stays in the region, hepatitis B, typhoid, and rabies immunization. Travelers should only consume bottled water and avoid swimming or bathing in bodies of standing water.

Mosquito protection is recommended for stays at oases and near rivers or lakes. Medical care in Morocco is generally adequate, but does not comply with Western standards, particularly so in rural areas.

Local expenses / money information

Most banks in Morocco exchange USD, GBP, CHF, and EUR for Moroccan dirhams (MAD). Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted.

Important information

Morocco is generally considered a safe destination, as crime committed against tourists are extremely rare and severely punished by Moroccan law. However, you should always check your state department and foreign ministry website before traveling abroad.

Ask permission before you take a Moroccan’s picture. In particular, women and devout Muslims do not like being photographed.

Bring tissues when using bathrooms outside of Western hotels. Moroccan bathrooms may often be unequipped.

Agree the taxi fare before entering the taxi. This should save you a lot of money and prevent lengthy discussions or excursions.

Barter when buying from the souk. It is expected and will save you money. Use a little French, such as merci or bonjour, as it is widely understood and generally perceived as you making an effort.

Drink bottled water to avoid diarrhea. Western stomachs are usually ill-suited for unfiltered or tap water.

Do not fall for false guides. False guides approach tourists all over the country offering their services. They will stick with you, send you off your path and try to lure you into shops and stores to earn a commission. Book guides and other help over agencies or your hotel.

Do not accept, purchase, or consume drugs. Do not be fooled when someone tells you that hashish and marijuana are widely consumed and available in Morocco. Penalties are still harsh and the Moroccan police do enforce the law.

Do not panic. Whatever situation you may find yourself in, Moroccans are a helpful and friendly people.

"A friend and I just got back from a 5 day yoga retreat in Marrakech with Nosade. From start to finish, it was everything I had hoped for and more. The trip was very well organised and tailored to suit our preferences. The yoga sessions with our talented instructor Gaia were both energising and relaxing. We had time in between sessions for a guided tour of the old city, to explore and shop in the souks and even to experience a traditional hammam. The food was invariably delicious & fresh with some excellent lunch recommendations from Anica. We had really good company and left feeling like we'd made friends for life. Thank you very much to Anica and Yidir for a great experience. Can't wait to get back and try the Desert tour."

"Nosade Tours promises to help find a path to yourself in Moroccos most beautiful & inspiring sights. Nosade delivers. I spent two of the best weeks of my life on a Nosade desert retreat. My fellow travelers were experienced yogis who could stand on their heads and put their feet in their mouths. I was a beginner. Nevertheless, the classes and accommodated us all. My Yoga improved exponentially and I loved also the camel rides there and back to the Berber Camp and the treks in the desert. All the travel arrangements were exceptionally well managed and the food excellent."

"This was really the experience of a lifetime. Nosade really provides a personalized one on one cultural experience that you don't get with a lot of tours. Hard for me to pick a stand out moment. Between Yoga in the desert, climbing sand dunes, hand drumming by the fire, riding camels, or seeing shooting stars in the night sky above the sand it's really impossible to pick. In addition to the guides teaching us a lot about Moroccan culture the yoga sessions really taught me a lot about my body, and gave me tools to improve my practice even further here at home."

"A friend and I recently traveled to Morocco, and decided to venture to Merzouga to experience the NOSADE desert tour. Incredibly glad we did! The journey there was scenic and adventurous. The guides and staff at NOSADE greeted us as part of their family and took very good care of us. Riding camels into the desert was a surreal, unforgettable way to get to the campsite. By far, climbing the incredibly high sand dunes was my favorite part... breathtaking. Especially at sunset! We felt that we got a true Moroccan experience, and I wouldn't have changed a thing. Definitely recommend to anyone!"

Amanda is an amazing yoga teacher and you compliment her perfectly the experience has left me wanting more and I'm already looking for my next yoga retreat. It was a great experience for me and I'm so glad to have met you, I will cherish the memories for many years to come. Thank you so much for everything and please pass on my thanks to Yidir and if you're ever in London come and stay with me and don't worry I wouldn't expect you to provide yoga classes.
