Throughout the duration of the course, you will extensively study:

Anatomy and biomechanics

You'll deeply explore the fascinating human body. Learning extensively about the skeletal and muscular systems, you’ll look at how your physical anatomy applies to the yoga practice and how to modify and adapt your teachings to keep students safe and aware. Through experiential and interactive learning, you’ll have fun as you assess and understand the limitations of the body, as well as all of its many amazing capabilities.

Asana (postures)

Through experiential practice and study, you’ll explore refinement and precision within your personal practice, as well as how to share that detailed approach with your students to safely and effectively teach anatomically-informed asana. You'll also delve into the many musculoskeletal works of key asanas.

The skeletal system

Dive into the fascinating anatomy of the human skeletal system and how it applies to the yoga asana practice so that you can modify and adapt your teachings to keep your students safe and aware. Through experiential and interactive learning, have fun as you assess and understand the limitations of the body as well as all of its many amazing capabilities.

The muscular system

Dive into the fascinating anatomy of the human muscular system and how it applies to the yoga asana practice so that you can modify and adapt your teachings to keep your students safe and aware. Through experiential and interactive learning, have fun as you assess and understand the limitations of the body as well as all of its many amazing capabilities.

The upper extremity

Extensively explore the bones and muscles of the upper extremity and how this applies to yoga asana practice. You'll learn how to activate and engage specific muscle groups as well as how to stretch and release them.

The lower extremity

Extensively explore the bones and muscles of the lower extremity and how this applies to yoga asana practice. You'll learn how to activate and engage specific muscle groups as well as how to stretch and release them.

The trunk

Extensively explore the bones and muscles of the trunk and how this applies to the yoga asana practice. You'll learn how to activate and engage specific muscle groups as well as how to stretch and release them.

Stretching

You'll briefly explore the concept of stretching from an anatomical lens and how this applies to the physical yoga asana practice.

How the training works

Every day, you will have pre-recorded videos to follow along with to guide you in your studies. You can follow these pre-recorded lectures, discussions, and practices in your own time and at your own pace to fully absorb the material in the time frame best suited for your schedule.

All pre-recorded videos will be made available through private links. You can access these videos from any device on the internet. You will also be provided with a detailed and robust digital PDF training manual to follow throughout the course. You will have access to the recorded practices and lectures to return to anytime that you feel you need a refresher throughout the training.

Curriculum / course information

Course information

The entire course will be taught virtually via pre-recorded practice and lecture videos. The entire course is self-paced, so you can move as quickly or as slowly as you'd like. All classes are recorded and available for you to view at any time. You can access the classes from any digital device.

Completion requirements

Full completion of all course work is mandatory in order to successfully graduate from the course. You are required to watch all videos in order to graduate. After you have completed the full course, you will be required to pass a test in order to receive your certification.

Pre-application requirements

The only prerequisites are a genuine interest in yoga anatomy, coming with an open mind, and being prepared to learn. You do not need to be a certified yoga teacher to join this course. You are more than welcome to join simply if you are interested in learning yoga anatomy. Please note, however, that this training will not qualify you to teach yoga in general; the course only offers you 20 hours of yoga anatomy education.
