Expert tip: This is one of the most popular yoga retreats offered in Japan.
Leave your busy life behind and spend a day in the beautiful mountains of Nishiawakura. Immerse yourself in a weekend of yoga and return home revitalized, rejuvenated, and restored. Shakti yoga weekend at the renovated traditional Japanese folk house of Nokishita Toshokan B&B, located in the north eastern part of Okayama will do just that.
Nokishita Toshokan's rooms have been renovated with care and attention to details to give shape to the original spirit of Nokishita Toshokan. The decor is consistent throughout the house and while working on a Japanese style canvas Nokishita Toshokan enjoys giving antique items a new life and function. The "kotasu" bases have become lamps spreading warm lights throughout the home and kimono fabric ornates the windows as beautiful blinds. It is and always will be a work in progress constantly evolving to inspire new guests and returners alike.
The two days retreat starts around 16:00 with an hour and a half asana, pranayama, and meditation class followed by a light supper. The 2-hour morning class also include asana, pranayama, and meditation class starts at 07:00. This is followed by brunch. The Saturday evening asana class often has a restorative feel, staying in supported poses longer to induce a sense of deep rest while the Sunday morning session will be more energizing preparing you for the day ahead.
