Treat yourself this Christmas by joining this holiday where you will spend your days under coconut palms among the idyllic scenery and laid-back vibe of Goa, India. You will be guided through yoga and meditation sessions by Leyla and Payal who both have a deep connection with India. Together, they have chosen the most beautiful spot for you to experience yoga, Indian culture, and its heritage!
You will stay at The Mandala Resort in Mandrem, India. The Mandala Resort is nature lovers' haven. Set in the middle of lush Goan nature, you may find a lone frog bathing in a flower pond or sitting on your writing desk gazing at you contemplatively and you may find massive butterflies the size of your hands. There are numerous colorful birds, a handful of big bumble bees stopping at flowers for nectar in the early mornings and a few pretty geckos to eat away all the bugs.
Sometimes it takes a moment to adjust to living in close proximity to the jungle, so if you've come straight from the city, have a little patience with this place's natural companions, they mean no harm. The Mandala also have two friendly dogs, Masala and Zen and two incredible cats, Didi, the adventurous one and Rani, the cuddly one.
The bamboo-clad rooms of The Mandala's eco-village are suited for both couples or singles. Each sleeps a maximum of two people. There are seven traditional woven bamboo rooms of varied shapes and designs. They are located in the lush coconut grove in close proximity to bathrooms and hot water showers. Each room is fitted with a lockable safety cabinet, a single or double bed (subject to requirement), mosquito nets, fan, and an outdoor seating area. These sleep one to two people in uncompromising comfort.
The rooms of the eco-village share tastefully designed, clean common bathrooms and are set amongst abundant greenery, the perfect distance away from the sea to hear the gentle lapping of the waves from the nearby Mandrem Beach.
The nomadic villas are perfect for a couple, a romantic getaway, traveling companions, or two friends exploring all that Goa has to offer. These highly original, open-plan rooms are breezy, light, and spacious. They have been crafted from natural woven bamboo and wood and have been carved by a talented team of artists with the concept of creating a space which compliments its surroundings, without sacrificing any of the comforts.
Their architecture is based on the ancient Keralan houseboats from the backwaters of Cochin in South India. The unique feature of this design is the ventilation at the top of the arched dome roof which is shaped in such a way that the flow of air upon entering the room is pushed down and cooled. This makes for an ingenious form of tribal air conditioning. There are flap-style windows at the sides and an open front which also allows the breeze to circulate throughout the room.
The bathroom is a spacious en-suite with modern fittings. The rooms are atmospherically lit and are furnished with writing tables and chairs, hand crafted cupboards, coffee table, and sun loungers. There is a lockable safety cabinet and plenty of space to hang clothes on a bamboo rack.
The spacious balcony is a great position for observing the stars and the surrounding wildlife of the tidal lagoon which acts as a natural cinema, with over 40 species of birds having been sighted in the area. Downstairs, sliding doors open onto a lake front sitting area, ideal for sunbathing and general relaxation.
There will be a visit to the flea market during the retreat. The transportation to the market is included in the price.
