Yewfield is a luxurious and comfortable vegetarian B&B that is situated in an amazing location with a light, airy, and spacious studio ideal for yoga. There are over 80 acres of land around the house, including native woodland, rough fell pasture, a small tarn, and a stream. The grazed pasture is carefully managed, giving priority to ecological considerations. The views from the house are truly inspiring and breathtaking.
Situated in over 30 acres of its own grounds, Yewfield is an impressive country house with gothic architecture dating back to 1859. Rooms are furnished to a high standard. Double and twin rooms at Yewfield are individually appointed to a very high standard, all with en-suite bath and shower, TV / DVD, radio, and tea / coffee making facilities.
There will be two yoga classes each day with Jaya. Mornings will begin with meditation and pranayama followed by a flowing Hatha class. In the evenings, there will be a shorter more restorative and slower paced yoga class. Please avoid a heavy meal 1.5 hours before the class.
Arrival time is on Thursday from 15:00 onwards. You can arrive earlier from 13:00 if you want to explore the beautiful surroundings. The first yoga session will be at 17:00. The weekend will finish in mid-morning on Sunday after yoga and breakfast.
Yewfield is ideally situated for breathtaking walks or just relaxing and enjoying the views of this exquisite region of rare natural beauty, indeed the inspiration of the Lakeland poets. Yewfield is set in a quiet elevated position with panoramic views over the Vale of Esthwaite, Lake Windermere, and the Fells beyond and just a short distance from Tarn Hows, a well known and popular destination in the Lake District.

You will be served with delicious vegetarian breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Soft drinks are also available for you during the retreat. Although Yewfield is not licensed, you are welcome to bring your own wine or beer. Yogakutir can cater for any dietary requirements.
Each day after morning yoga and a hearty breakfast, there will be an opportunity to explore the woodland, open fell, and lakes that start right from the front door with many walks and breathtaking surroundings with a picnic lunch. This is a very special place indeed! The walks are not guided and completely optional if you would prefer to take in the beauty of the lakes in a different way.
If you fancy staying in and curling up with a good book, the large lounge at Yewfield offers a quiet space to relax and enjoy the fine views, music, or book collection from the extensive library allowing you to make the most of your relaxing break in the Lake District.
To get to Yewfield, there are hourly trains running from London Euston to Windermere (changing in either Oxenholme or Preston). If you are coming by train, then let Yogakutir know what time your train gets in and they can see if anyone else is on the same train so you can share a transfer together from Windermere.
The local company is Abacus Taxis and the cost will be approximately 25 GBP. There are usually taxis at the station but please let Yogakutir know your plans and if there are lots of people arriving at the same time, they can alert the taxi company and let you know so you can share.
Alternatively, you can take a bus that goes from the station and you need to get off at Hawkshead Hill, a 5-minute walk from Yewfield. They do not run all day so you will need to check the timetable on the Cumbira buses website.
