This retreat will take place in a secluded sustainable, eco farmhouse surrounded by an amazing garden and cork and pine forest and added with a lush and big saltwater swimming pool. The farmhouse consists of two buildings with five en-suite bedrooms and a big inside yoga room. The whole house is stunningly rebuilt and completely restored in a barefoot luxurious way.
The house is very cozy, walking from one room to the next. Both houses have big living rooms with comfy sofas and a fireplace for those chilly evenings. There is a big luxurious farm kitchen where all the great meals will be prepared and laughter will be shared. The yoga room is a big open inside space perfect for all the classes.
The place is the most amazing place to host a retreat, an escape away from the crowds, a place to get centered again, and to come home. You will stay in a shared, double, or single accommodations, all available with ensuite bathroom. All the en-suite rooms are luxurious, with each room having their own bathroom.
The eco farmhouse is set amidst a coastal national park. It's a self-sustainable house connected to solar panels. The big pool is definitely one of the best features of the house and is completely filled with salt water, so no chlorine added.There is also a towel and sheet program so that there will be no waist with the washing machine.
During this retreat, there will be twice daily Iyengar yoga classes focused on alignment and infused with yogic philosophy. Daily mindfulness meditation and two mindful deepening sessions will also be offered. Besides that, you will be treated with delicious vegan / vegetarian food and mindful silent moments throughout the week.
Students of Iyengar yoga begin with elementary postures with an emphasis on the standing asanas (postures). In time, other postures are added, including forward bends, backbends, twists, inversions, and restorative poses. Salamba Sarvangasana (shoulder balance) is introduced as soon as students are ready because of its many therapeutic benefits.
Each class ends with Savasana, Corpse Pose, or deep relaxation. Students learn to rest in a profound way, completely releasing the body while drawing the mind towards the peace within. As the student progresses, pranayama (the control of the breath) is introduced.
Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to and seeing clearly whatever is happening in your life. It will not eliminate life's pressures and difficulties but it can help you respond to them in a calmer way that benefits your heart, head, and body. It helps you recognize and step away from habitual, often unconscious emotional and physiological reactions to everyday events.
Mindfulness provides you with a scientifically researched approach to cultivating clarity, insight, and understanding. Practicing mindfulness allows you to be fully present in your life and work yet it also improves your quality of life. If you learn to focus your attention on your breath, thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations, you establish a strong foundation. A foundation from which you can expand your awareness to your actions and interactions with yourself, other people, and the world.
You choose your behavior based on response and conscious choice instead of habits and automatic patterns. When you are aware, you can take care of your feelings of anger, frustration, anxiety, stress, fear, and insecurity. When you are aware, you notice all the little things around you that makes life beautiful and that lift your mood. When you are aware, you feel more calm, joyful, and alive.

Shaini was able to make her dream come true at the Southwest coast of the Algarve, Portugal because of her passions for yoga, surf, and healthy nutrition. Combining all of these is the ultimate lifestyle for her. She tries using these passions to deeply connect with the beautiful nature around her and within her. Her teaching is based on proper alignment, verbal, and precise hands-on adjustments and bringing inner awareness into her student’s practice. She creates a warm, safe, and loving space, so that yoga becomes a spiritual practice and connection for each of her students.
Elisabeth is a qualified mindfulness teacher since 2012. She is currently in an advanced teacher training for certification, with See True Mindfulness Institute in the Netherland. Under the name Dyota, she hosts the 8-week MBSR training, workshops and other mindfulness activities in Portugal. She has been hosting mindfulness workshops for Yogaion since 2013. Besides being passionate about sharing mindfulness, she enjoys practicing yoga, surf, and meditation and living a basic lifestyle in nature with her partner, 2,5 year-old-daughter, and dog.
The retreat is offered in a beautiful location, in a fun and supportive way, whilst in the company of other like-minded people. The retreat will be held at the new retreat destination for 2018. It takes place in a stunning eco farm house with stunning setting amidst the national park of Costa Vicentina on the southwest coast of Portugal.
The house is only a 10-minute drive from one of the most beautiful beaches Portugal has to offer, Praia do Amoreira, with its lagoons and amazing waves. All other great beaches are all in the vicinity. The Costa Vicentina National Coastal Park is also a great place for hiking as the Vicentina trail goes all the way from Sagres to Sines and passes just in front of the house.
During the retreat, you will have three healthy, abundant vegetarian meals a day cooked and prepared freshly by loving hands every single day. All filtered water and herbal tea will be also available. All the food during the yoga retreat is local and organic, coming either straight from the organic farms down the road or from the farmers market. This means that most of the waste is biodegradable and for any other waste there will be a full-on recycling program.
At Yogaion, the vegan / vegetarian meals are prepared with simple, fresh, local, mostly organic ingredients, and most important, with love without any added processed sugars or other processed ingredients. Shivani will be cooking all the delicious meals during the week, lovingly preparing all the food, creating mouthwatering delicious meals from breakfast to dinner and dessert. If there are any other dietary allergies or intolerances please let Yogaion knows before you book, as they will try to accommodate for you as good as they can.
