The accommodation provided at Yoga Bhawna Mission is on sharing basis. However, in special cases, Yoga Bhawna Mission will provide single occupancy-based accommodation under terms and conditions.
This ashram is located at a convenient distance from Rishikesh and takes only five to six hours of scenic journey. Beautifully located on the banks of Bhagirathi River, this ashram is four kilometers before the hustling and bustling traffic jams of Uttarkashi town.
It offers 18 luxury rooms facing the river with all modern amenities. All the rooms have queen-sized beds, air-conditioning, LCD-TV, and hot geysers in the toilets.
This ashram is situated at an elevation of 1,220 meters above sea level, Barkot camp ashram is one of the popular destinations located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India. Barkot is surrounded on the north by the Dehradun district, on the northeast by Tibet, on the east by Chamoli, on the southeast by the Rudraprayag district, and on the south by Tehri Garhwal district.
This ashram, with 16 luxury camps, ensures optimum comfort for the yogi and yoga practice. The experience and facilities provided in the ashram is superior to that of any hotel or resort in the surrounding and not the least enjoy a dip into the holy Ganga (water) Kund (spring) at the resort campus. The Ganga Kund has been recognized by the archaeological survey of India (A.S.I).
The confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati is one of the major attractions of the ashram. Yamuna flowing as its main course, Ganga water emerging out of the Ganga Kund (cold water spring) merges with Yamuna, and a stream of Kedar Ganga confluences with the Yamuna. The source of Kedar Ganga is said to be from where river Saraswati emerges.
You will start the day with yagya and mantra chanting followed by pranayama and meditation sessions. Deepen your yoga practice on a daily basis for five days, working on the primary series and moving on to the advanced set of postures. Learn more about asanas, anatomy, and perfect certain postures during the workshops. Relax deeply and restore both your body and mind with yoga Nidra for deep relaxation.
The daily schedule is subject to change per conditions. This retreat might be running in parallel with other retreats. When the number of students is less, classes may be combined for the morning meditation or philosophy classes with other groups.
You will arrive at Dehradun Airport (DED). The airport is 143 kilometers away from Uttarkashi Yoga Bhawna Mission resort and takes approximately five hours drive. Upon arrival at the airport, you will meet and greet the Yoga Bhawna Mission executive, who will guide you. A private vehicle will take you to Uttarkashi camp. You will stop for lunch or snacks mid-way to the camp.
A welcome ceremony will be prepared for you upon check-in followed by snacks and refreshing tea. The rest of the day is yours to settle down and relax.
In the evening, there will be a thanksgiving at the holy river in the Ganges or Yamuna. You will join the group prayer in the evening offered at Bhagirathi River or Yamunotri River. It is a form of thanks for the blessing and as a symbol of good luck as a ritual. This activity is subject to your accommodation option. If you have booked at Uttarkashi, you will join the ritual at Bhagirathi River and if you have booked at Barkot, you will join the ritual at Yamuna River.
You will start the day with yagya ritual. Then you will proceed to your morning yoga practical class with 10 rounds of sun salutations. In the evening, there will be a theory class that discusses introduction to yoga followed by evening meditation session. After dinner, you will have doubt clearance or discussion session.
You will have mantra chanting practice followed by your morning yoga practical class. You will practice sun salutation and five back bending asana or alignment practice and detox. You will also practice pranayama. In the evening, there will be an evening theory class discussing basic Ashtanga yoga philosophy followed by evening meditation sessions or moon meditation. After dinner, you will have doubt clearance or discussion session.
You will start with mantra chanting practice followed by your morning yoga practical class. You will practice five forward bending asana or alignment practice and detox. You will also practice morning meditation (depends on time and place). The morning theory class will discuss the types of yoga while the evening theory class will discuss the types of pranayama. After classes, you will practice pranayama and after dinner, you will have double clearance or discussion session.
You will start with mantra chanting practice followed by your morning yoga practical class. You will practice five twisting asana with pragya yoga asana series. The morning class will discuss the basics of chakra and kundalini. In the evening, the theory class covers bhakti yoga and bhajan Sandhya or musical evening. You will also practice pranayama. After dinner, you will have doubt clearance or discussion session.
You will start with mantra chanting practice followed by your morning yoga practical class. The morning theory class will discuss Ayurveda basics including three types of dosha. In the evening, you will experience deep yagya and group meditation. You will also experience sharing session and feedback and enjoy the campfire and shantipath.
You will check-out and depart to Dehradun Airport (DED). If there is still time, the final program will be followed starting with mantra chanting practice and morning yoga practical class. You will also have revision of all practical classes.
You will have an opportunity to spend an hour daily exploring the nearby surrounding. The ashram is adjacent to Bhagirathi River and you can have the privilege to practice on the river bank or on the lap of forest and mountain.
On alternate Sundays, you will be guided by the team from Yoga Bhawna Mission for the mountain walk followed by village walk or trekking and river walk and nature excursions.

Rohit Kumar has an academic background with two bachelors and master from Indian universities and is a registered yoga teacher from Yoga alliance USA. For over last more than sixteen years he has been into yoga as a practitioner as well as a propagator. Starting his journey of yoga and academics from his home town he has extensively visited all over India for yoga classes. At Yoga Bhawna Mission the teacher training courses are conducted under his care.
Dr. Gaurav Sajwan is a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Surgery and has studied at reputed Medical College and Hospital in Ayurveda from Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Sansthana, Prashanti Kuteeram, Bangalore. In the past, he has also worked as a doctor at T.R. Hospital, J.P. Nagar Bengaluru, Naino Hospital, Hollymoun, Bengalura, Suhas Hospital, and Jigani Bengaluru. His experiment of Ayurveda in yogic life made him quit from the mainstream and he clubbed with Yoga Bhawna Mission to flourish this unique combination. At Yoga Bhawna Mission he takes the classes on Yogic anatomy and Ayurveda class.
This retreat will take place in Uttarakhand, India. There are two separate ashram locations that you can choose from upon booking. The ashrams are located in the higher Himalayan mountain range with unique significance and magical energy wafting onto the retreat. One of the locations is in Barkot and the other in Uttarkashi.

Please book your flight to arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL), where you can take a domestic flight into Dehradun Airport (DED). From Dehradun, the ashram is 130 kilometers away and you can reach it by bus at Dehradun Bus Station or you can travel with a shared taxi. Airport Transfers from Dehradun to our Ashram can be arranged by Yoga Bhawna Mission at an additional cost of 100 USD.
You can either arrive at Dehradun or Rishikesh from New Delhi. It is highly recommended to inform Yoga Bhawna team in advance so that they can help you in arranging bus ticket from New Delhi and can escort you from the bus stand to avoid any confusion.
Please note that if you are coming from New Delhi by bus, then ideally, you should get down to Dehradun. But if you want to arrive at Rishikesh, then you need to advise in advance so that your pick-up from Rishikesh can be arranged with nominal extra charge.

You can book with Shatabdi Express train, which runs every day from New Delhi to Dehradun railways station. It is recommended that you inform Yoga Bhawna Mission team in advance so they can help you with booking for your train ticket and arrive smoothly with a guide to escort you.
The dedicated travel desk team works promptly and will collect all information before arrival through emails or phone calls and arrange to assemble from various arrival points at New Delhi for a group departure in a private vehicle so that you can have a smooth check-in at the yoga camp.
