The Hawaii Island Retreat eco-boutique hotel offers a choice of elegant bungalows, suites, and yurts. The suites are color matched and named for the large antique saxon prints of tropical flowers. Each suite has a spacious bathroom with a large soaking tub and separate shower. These spacious suites are 375 - 450 square feet and decorated with turn-of -the-century-Hawaii furniture.

All suites have private balconies and chairs, overlooking the fragrant garden as well as the ocean. The yurt bungalows have valley or garden views.

It is recommended to contact Women Wellness Retreats before choosing a room so that they can help you choose the right accommodation as per your needs (there are also high-end bungalows and opportunities to share a room with three people).

Here is an overview of the topics that will be covered in this beautiful environment:


Day 1: Coming home to yourself

After some yummy yoga and a peaceful meditation in the balmy winds of Hawaii, assessments will be made where you are for example on a scale of one to ten, how energized do you feel? What is and is not working in your life? What do you most want? Your teachers will let your heart and mind speak to them through a series of guided exercises.

In the afternoon, you will learn and practice self-care ritual number 1.

Day 2: Caring for yourself

Using creative and time-tested activities, the instructors will help you take a stock of your current care activities and give you the secret to building revitalizing practices into your daily life, including exercising, conscious breathing, or healthy eating.

Day 3: Examining your inner dialogue

You will uncover how to talk to yourself, to make sure that you are not the demanding ones. While this might seem like a scary step, it is going through this process that you will uncover the power of your own internal self-dialogue, and ensure that it is supporting your highest good.

In the afternoon, you will learn and practice self-care ritual number 3.

Day 4: Your aspirations and your legacy

What do you want to do in the world? What is your place in the world? You will gain the answer to these questions today, working with your belief systems and values as it relates to work, family, career, spirituality and your life goals. You will create a map that leads you towards your goals.

Day 5: Supporting the journey forward

You will discuss how to bring all the insights and resources that you have learned during the week, back home and integrate them into your life. The teachers will also discuss the support systems you can use to keep on track with your new self-care rituals.

Allison Quaid
Allison's creativity has been cultivated over the years as a CEO of a marketing firm in San Francisco, working primarily on large-scale behavior change campaigns for environmental issues. She holds a B.S. in Environmental Science and a M.A. in Environmental Policy. Allison's guidance flows from what she learned on her own self-care journey, going from burnt out executive to a creative wellness facilitator and writer. She is also a skilled facilitator of self-care and creativity workshops, where she blends coaching, writing, and art therapy to connect you to your heart, mind and soul's purpose.
Brianna Jarboe
Brianna is a 200-hour yoga instructor, a sacred yoga prenatal instructor, a doula, a hairstylist, and an Aveda educator. She brings years of experience of being guided in and teaching classes on well-being, loving, and honoring your sacred self and Ayurveda. She loves teaching workshops and continues to share her knowledge with her clients and students. Her goal is to educate people to integrate wellness and beauty into their lives on a daily basis. Brianna will be your guide and instructor for this retreat.

This retreat will take place at Hawaii Island Retreat, an eco-boutique hotel and wellness spa. This is a place of intentional peacefulness, set among towering evergreens, and ocean breezes along Hawaii Island's North Kohala coast. When you visit Hawaii Island Retreat you quickly realize the wonder of their sacred land. Here, you can relax and unwind on 50 acres of gardens, wild groves, and ancient valley trails. You will be served three daily nutritious organic meals, during the duration of the retreat program. Hawaii Island Retreat’s organic gardens and orchards are a living tribute to the Big Island's bounty of exotic vegetables and fruits. They grow their own foods used in their hotel kitchen, from salad greens to lychee and sunrise papaya.

The garden-side dining room opens onto fragrant plantings. Here, you will enjoy the organic farm-to-table cuisine, as well as seafood fresh from Hawaiian waters. You will find a Hawaiian spa cuisine menu rich with local accents, whole-grain bread, Pacific rim dishes, and international menus.

The chefs are brilliant in the kitchen. When they are not out gathering herbs for an appetizer dish, they are about the region sampling local dishes for new menu ideas. Join them for a spa cooking class or afternoon in the gardens!

Driving directions from Kona International Airport (KOA)

  • From Kona International Airport (KOA), turn left onto highway 19 and drive north towards Waimea.
  • After about 30 minutes, turn left at the "T" on Kawaihae Road towards Kawaihae Harbor.
  • Drive one mile, then turn right at the sign for Hawi on Highway 270.
  • Continue north on Highway 270 for 22 miles until you reach Hawi.
  • Drive through Hawi town and continue for one point six miles toward Kapa'au.
  • Pass the Aloha gas station on the left.
  • Look for a white vinyl fence on the left side.
  • At the end of the fence, look for a guard rail.
  • Take your first left after the uard rail at Maluhia Road - it is a gravel road and there will be “Shoreline Public Access” and "Hawaii Island Retreat" signs at the turn. Follow these signs.
  • Turn left at the “T’ through the tunnel of trees, turn right.
  • Bear right when the road splits and enter the Porte Cochere. You have arrived!
