For the first four nights, you will be staying at Blue Karma Boutique Resort. This stunning property is about 10 minutes outside the town of Ubud. The Sacred Fig has led past trainings at Blue Karma, and they are thrilled to come back. Surrounded by rice fields and fireflies, the lush property includes an infinity swimming pool tapering off into the rice terraces, and a gorgeous bamboo yoga shala build on the principles of sacred geometry.
The shala is complete with all the props you will need. No need to bring your mat. The property is interspersed with open-air "bale" bungalows complete with day beds and pillows, ideal for an afternoon nap or quiet conversation. Expect lovely touches like turmeric tonic at sunrise, herb-infused waters by the pool in the afternoon, and turn-down service for your room each evening.
Each spacious villa accommodates two people very comfortably and features two twin beds with fine linens, rain showers, air-conditioning, unique artwork, a small refrigerator, and all the amenities to brew coffee or herbal tea in the comfort of your own villa. Some villas feature a private deck or verandah, some have outdoor showers, while others are two-floors.
For the final three nights, where you will celebrate the new year, you will be heading to the beach! You will be staying in a private villa situated high on the Uluwatu bluffs. You will have a cliff-front pool with gorgeous sunset views, and direct access to the beach below. If you are feeling adventurous, join Anton for an afternoon surf!
For many people, day-to-day reality is a demanding job with endless social obligations. New technologies that were designed to simplify your life somehow have added more to your plates (and iCals). You are expected to be more available and more accessible, and as each day ends, you find yourself with just a sliver of personal time left over.
Your culture might tell you that being "busy" is somehow a good thing. People associate being busy with being in demand, sought after, and successful. Whether you see this busy-ness as self-imposed or not, it is harder than ever these days to align yourself with the person you want to be. When was the last time you felt fully recharged?
At this special New Year’s retreat, celebrate with sunrise meditation and afternoon naps by the pool. Celebrate with lovingly prepared, nourishing meals every day, and world-class yoga asana, taught by qualified, experienced, and inspirational teachers. Celebrate with new friendships, with sweat, with surprising conversations, and laughter with still plenty of time for self-reflection.
This retreat will take place from December 27th, 2017 to January 3rd, 2018. Plan on arriving at Blue Karma in Ubud anytime after 2:00 p.m. on December 27th (your first yoga class as a group is at 5:00 p.m.), and leaving after yoga and breakfast on January 3rd. The Sacred Fig will help coordinate your transport to the airport.
Each day will be well-balanced with asana, healthy meals, and plenty of free time to spend as you wish. There will be lots of optional activities and you can get into as much or as little as you want. Below is a schedule to give you a general idea. Whether you want to embrace your introvert, or hang out with new friends, there will be plenty of opportunity for both.
Chill out by the pool, adventure down the cliffs to the beach, or wander through the rice fields. Come surf with Anton, or finish your book on the hammock.
Satsang is to gather in the company of those seeking a higher truth. So in the true spirit of retreat, The Sacred Fig offers optional guided meditation and pranayama each morning.
The afternoon activity varies. Often times it is a yoga class (more workshop style in format), or a guest teacher, and some other days you will go on an outdoor adventure. It varies depending on the direction of the group.
Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 (Yoga)
Anton traveled the world, exploring various modalities from Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Kundalini, Kriyas to Vipassana meditation. The Sacred Fig is the culmination of that journey. Anton is an experienced teacher and has completed a 500-hour yoga teacher training program that is registered with Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500). He seamlessly blends meditation, pranayama, and asana together with a sense of lightness, laughter, and ease. Anton’s classes are intelligently sequenced, fluid, dynamic, and physically demanding.
The retreat will take place in Bali, Indonesia. Bali has a certain magic to it. Somewhere between the stunning rice terraces, ridiculous surf, and the daily offerings that mystically appear throughout the day, and the ever abundant tropical fruits and flowers. For this luxurious new year's retreat, you are getting the best that Bali has to offer.
Waking up with the sun, meditating, and practicing yoga seem to come naturally here. Bali is the only island in Indonesia (out of tens of thousands) that is Hindu, and their culture has a uniqueness all of its own. From the temple offerings, to the sound of the gamelan, and that sweet smile that the Balinese so readily share, Bali tends to sweep most of their feet. The largest (and still active) volcano, is considered by Balinese to be the center of the universe.
For the first four nights, you will be staying among the rice terraces in Ubud. It is the cultural heart of Bali, interwoven with temples, coconut palms, and rice terraces in every direction. For the final three nights, you will head to Uluwatu with access to the beach and surf.
At Blue Karma Boutique Resort, on a typical day, you will have breakfast after morning asana, a light lunch, and lovingly-prepared vegetarian dinner. Purified spring water, french-press coffee, herbal teas, fresh almond and cashew milks, as well as various tonics and elixirs are prepared daily. The retreat property is thoughtful with accommodating dietary restrictions.
When you are staying in Uluwatu, you will have two meals per day. You will enjoy late breakfast feast and early dinner, so that those who want to adventure out have plenty of time to explore.
During your free time, you can access both stunning properties, including beach access, infinity pools, and infinite wifi. No texting and swimming please.
