The retreat will take place in Koh Phangan, Thailand. The Sanctuary is located on the small, beautiful tropical island of Koh Phangan in the Gulf of Thailand, a sister island of Koh Samui. They are nestled into the corner of Haad Tien Beach and are most easily accessed via Haad Rin Town, normally by boat, or by the car when the waves are too high for sea travel.
It is surrounded by a magical coconut grove and backed onto the hillside jungle. There is no road, traffic, or chaotic streets but just nature, tranquility, and good vibes. It is easily accessible by a five-minute long-tail boat ride from Haad Rin Beach.
Haad Tien Bay is situated on the east coast of Koh Phangan, an island known for its Thai friendliness and, more recently, for its famous full moon parties in Haad Rin. The bay is two beaches away from Haad Rin and therefore offers the best of both worlds, the chance to experience the clubs and parties of Haad Rin, and yet you can easily return to the peace and tranquility of an unspoiled island bay with excellent swimming, snorkeling, and relaxation facilities.
You can also walk to Why Nam Beach and Haad Yuan Beach along with Haad Tien. These three bays make up their small community. Why Nam is very small and peaceful with just one bungalow resort and a restaurant. Haad Yuan is more developed and great for swimming. They encourage you to walk, explore, and enjoy everything their three bays has to offer.
There are several different budget bungalow resorts in Haad Tien all offering a unique style of food, accommodation, and an assortment of extras. The beach is kept clean and they all endeavor to take care of ecological waste and, through cooperation, keep this bay very special for all of the visitors and long term residents. In addition to providing a family-type atmosphere, it is a unique place in a fast-changing world. Theft within the bay is practically unknown as access is limited to boats or a stiff jungle walk.

A healthy diet is something they take seriously at The Sanctuary. They also offer a comprehensive raw cleansing menu of dishes that are suitable for pre and post-fast diets, and tasty enough to be enjoyed by everyone. Healthy eating does not have to be boring.
The fully equipped bar offers a vast array of beers, spirits, imported wines, and cocktails as well as a large selection of herbal teas, shakes, and fruit juices. The restaurant, rapidly becoming famous among satisfied customers, has maybe the most extensive selection of vegetarian and seafood in all of South East Asia.
Please book your flight to arrive at Samui International Airport (USM). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request.
Koh Phangan island is easily accessible by boat from several places in southern Thailand. Most boats arrive on Koh Phangan at one of two towns, Thong Sala or Haad Rin. If your boat lands in Thong Sala, go to Haad Rin town via taxi truck about 20 minutes at an additional cost of 100 THB per person, where you can get a car taxi, or boat taxi, to Haad Tien, home of the Sanctuary.
The easiest way to get to the Sanctuary, between the middle of April to the late of October, is on the Thong Nai Pan ferry boat. This ferry departs from Mae Nam town (not the pier) on Koh Samui every day at 12 p.m. and brings you directly to Haad Tien and get off at the second stop Haad Tien. The journey is approximately one hour. Mae Nam is about 45 minutes by taxi from Samui International Airport (USM).
Please note however that if the waves are big, this boat does not run. If you are unsure, you can phone the reception anytime from 8 a.m. to find out if the boat is running that day.
There are also four ferry boats a day from Big Buddha Pier in Samui to Haad Rin. The arrival times are 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m. This ferry takes about 50 minutes, and it runs in all weathers. Big Buddha Pier is about 15 minutes drive by taxi from Samui International Airport (USM).
When you arrive in Haad Rin on Koh Phangan, there will be taxi boat drivers waiting for customers bound for Haad Tien. Please note that if the waves are high or there are few customers, the boat drivers may charge a higher price. If the waves are too high for boat travel, there will be a taxi jeep waiting. This journey is quite an adventure. It takes about 40 minutes over mostly rough jungle track. Both the taxi truck and the taxi boat journeys cost around 500 THB per person in calm seas.
If you wish to have a private charter speedboat to whiz you off to paradise, this can also be organized from 6,000 THB to 6,500 THB depending on weather and time. This gets you directly on to the beach less than an hour after you touch down at Samui International Airport (USM).
Many ferry companies offer boats directly to Koh Phangan or via Koh Samui. The journey from Surat Thani or Donsak to Thong Sala takes around two and a half hours. The boats land at Thong Sala town on Koh Phangan and you can get a taxi truck to Haad Rin, where you can catch a boat taxi or taxi jeep to the Sanctuary.
The easiest way to get to the Sanctuary is via Haad Rin and by taxi boat from there. If you are already on the East Coast of the island, the Thong Nai Pan ferry boat travels between Haad Tien and Thong Nai Pan or Than Sadet twice a day from March to October.
Taxi boats leave from Sunrise beach in Haad Rin throughout the day. The taxi boat drivers will often ask you to wait for more customers to arrive. To improve your chances of getting a boat quickly with other passengers, you can head to the ferry port when the boats from Koh Samui come in at 11:20 a.m., 1:50 p.m., 4:50 p.m., and 7:20 p.m. The ferry port is just five minutes walk from Sunrise Beach.
For your departure, the ferries leave Haad Rin at 9:30 a.m., 11:40 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. and arrive at Koh Samui 50 minutes later. This means that for any flight out of Samui before midday, you will need to either spend your last night in Samui or travel by private speedboat.
