Your accommodation will be eclectic, colorful, and inspirational. This is truly magical. The Aliki is an old three-floor neo-classical hotel located in the port of Symi, just three meters from the sea. Guests may choose a spectacular sea front view or a calm and relaxing garden view from their rooms.
You do not have to be an artist to attend. In fact, you don't even have to have any experience painting before. Symi Yoga Retreat promises you that you will leave feeling a sense of accomplishment for your new found skills and a renewed confidence in your abilities. Your experienced teachers will help you on your journey to develop new possibilities. You will be able to free your mind from stress, permit your senses to wander and allow yourself to regain your creativity in stunning surroundings. You will learn to see what you are looking at and understand what you are tasting.
Nourish your soul and practice mindfulness through all that you do during your week-long stay with Symi Yoga Retreat. A typical day begins with gentle yoga or a walk. After breakfast you will spend the morning walking the hillside to the castle, breathing in the aromas of wild herbs and exploring winding alleys and ruins. Afterwards it's a walk back to the town where you will take lunch before spending the afternoon relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, or reading a book. Whatever brings you joy!
In the late afternoon, as the colors of 'Europe's most beautiful harbor' start to glow in the warmth of the sun, you'll have the opportunity to practice mindfulness at your wine-and-chocolate tasting, (each day you will sample two regional Greek wines paired with meze and different chocolate) and developing your painting practice. In the evening you can choose to either join your group for dinner or take time by yourself before you close out a wonderfully blissful day.
Come on board this wonderful boat, and enjoy a magnificent excursion and a unique experience. You don't want to miss this! You will see unique landscapes and swim in crystal clear waters and you spend the day leisurely cruising around the island, swimming, sunbathing, exploring, and eating.
Chorio is the oldest inhabited area with many narrow lanes and picturesque houses predating the neo-classical which predominates on the Kali Strata and in Yialos. You will climb the Kataraktis, the original staircase connecting Yialos to Chorio, passing ruins and the old mansions of the island, breathing in the scent of the mountainside full of wild oregano. You can even collect some to dry yourself.
Greek culture is rich and diverse. During your retreat, you will have a chance to sample some quintessential Greek experiences including a traditional Greek Bouzouki and Meze Tasting. You will also learn how to make a traditional Greek coffee which you can then enjoy while you learn to play the ancient game of Tavli.
Symi is home to over one hundred Byzantine wine presses nestled within a beautiful cypress forest. On this trip, you will be able to sip wine, paired with olives and cheese while painting under the shade of these ancient and beautiful trees.
Often described as the "jewel of the Aegean", Symi is a small Greek island noted for its peace, tranquility and fabulous architecture. As you round the headland, you will be greeted by the breathtaking sight of yellow and ochre-colored buildings built amphitheatrically around the charming harbor and offering breathtaking views to the sea from any spot. Practically everywhere looks like a painting; the colors of the harbor; the view of the Aegean from your room and the picturesque hillsides dotted with wild herbs and ancient ruins. There is certainly no shortage of inspiration.
You will be served Greek food to nourish your body and soul! All of your breakfasts will be prepared on site for you. There are only a few meals not included in your retreat package; Symi Yoga Retreat thought you might like the ability to have some private dining time. Please let Symi Yoga Retreat know in advance if you have specific dietary requirements.

Please book your flight to arrive at Rhodes International Airport (RHO). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request.
Symi is a part of the Dodecanese Island group. There is no airport on Symi and it can only be reached by boat. Symi Yoga Retreat recommends flying to Rhodes Island before taking the ferry to Symi which takes around 1.5 hours. Both Aegean Air and Ryan Air operate multiple daily, direct, inexpensive, non-stop flights from Athens to Rhodes and there are direct flights available from many UK airports to Rhodes. Although you will be responsible for your own travel to Symi, Symi Yoga Retreat is happy to help advise you on your travel plans and help you to manage your transfer from Rhodes to the island.
