This transformational trip is carefully handcrafted with a view to offering a yoga retreat which will allow you to indulge in new experiences, develop your skills, and get to know the best friend you will ever have: yourself! It does not intend to send you home an enlightened Buddha or an Olympic-level athlete, but it can guarantee something will be awakened in you, a shift in your perspective or a passion revived, or perhaps just a few moments of much-needed deep relaxation.
The selection of accommodations features innovative and luxurious eco-lodges and comfortable quality heritage buildings that overlook stunning views of the Western Ghats.
You will stay at boutique resorts amidst coffee, tea, and cardamom plantations, or in premises celebrated for their beauty and sustainable design. You will relax and rejuvenate in sumptuous bliss at mountain-side resorts, or take in the views as you pass by magical forests, idyllic plantation villages, and picturesque streams.
Sthidhi has carefully selected the accommodation after spot checking a number of resorts over a period of months. They have chosen the resorts that employed the happiest staff, in the most stunning locations, with the highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance. Munnar is a destination hotspot, so there were plenty of resorts to choose from.
Sthidhi has chosen the very best two five-star resorts in this region. The first one is nestled deep in the woods of a former cardamon plantation in the Munnar mountains, elegantly appointed, offering a mix of modernity and traditional design, with outdoor swimming pool.
Meanwhile, the second residence is simply beautiful, homely yet exquisite, with views of the tea plantations and valley below, that will take your breath away. Sthidhi has also arranged for one night's camping after a seven-hour hike and for the provision of good quality tents and sleeping bags on the fifth day.
Are you ready to meet your inner warrior? This trip in the rolling hills of Munnar is a chance to retreat to your inner self, to face the warrior in you, and to traverse the terrains of your, as yet, unknown abilities.
You will cycle up and down the mountains of Munnar from day one, rise early each day for morning training, be it a run, martial arts or a dynamic yoga practice, and trek the mighty Western Ghats. You are guaranteed to return home with skills you never knew you had.
Sthidhi has found some of the very best Kalari practitioners in South India. You will see them perform and they will give you a taster session in this ancient Indian martial art, which is believed to have been the precursor to Kung Fu. So, the preliminary sessions in traditional Chinese Shaolin Kung Fu and Tai Chi will get you prepared.
Every activity in life is a teacher of some sort. By incorporating diverse tasks and exercises, the intention is to provide a practical learning experience that unlocks new levels of concentration, emotional input, physical energy, and will. The activities and yoga sessions are all designed to allow you some quality rest, good sleep, and time to yourself as well.
The sessions provide a range of yoga styles and a variety of exercise techniques to allow guests an experience that encompasses not only what yoga has to offer, but what other physical endeavors can offer you as well.
As anatomy experts, Sthidhi always keeps in mind variations and adaptations to suit your body type. They value the deeper psychological and spiritual elements of yogic philosophy, so they include breathing techniques (pranayama), relaxation techniques (yoga Nidra and meditation), and by the campfire, they even share a Kirtan.
The rejuvenating deep tissue Kalari Ayurvedic massage is the perfect relaxation you need to complement this intense training. After all, a warrior needs some respite. Kerala is the home of Ayurveda, a complete system of healthy food, activity, and healing, which includes massage. Sthidhi has personally vetted the best Ayurvedic centers in Munnar and selected one for you to experience the health and rejuvenation benefits of this ancient massage technique.
All in all, you will enjoy a rejuvenating and inspiring week of nourishing activities in stunning Kerela scenery. You will swim in the waterfall nearby the resort, weather permitting. You will camp in the mountains after a day’s trekking, with all equipment provided. You will relax with diverse and transformational daily yoga sessions, plus a variety of other ancient mind and body techniques.
