You will be accommodated in the sharing dorms at Glenbarr Retreat Centre. Situated on the outskirts of Strathalbyn, Glenbarr is a heritage-listed homestead set on 35 acres of gently undulating farming land alongside the meandering Middle Creek. Its intimate and rustic feel is perfect for disconnecting and taking time for yourself while on meditation retreat.
It is on the edge of the township and only a short walk to the center of this historic town with its beautiful memorial gardens, stunning heritage buildings, and collection of antique shops and cafes. Glenbarr was originally a home for Scottish pioneers and was one of the first buildings in Strathalbyn built in 1842. The buildings are a unique insight to the lifestyle of the early pioneers in rural Australia.
Many of the original buildings are used by groups with modern accommodation and bathroom facilities to ensure a comfortable stay. Please do not forget to bring your own linen including single sheet set or sleeping bag, blankets, pillow and pillowcase, towels, face wash, and soap. There are extra camp-style blankets available in bedrooms. Bedrooms are simple dorm or bunkhouse-style accommodation.
All rooms have heating, however in winter, you might wish to bring a wheat bag or hot water bottle for bed warming. There are separate shared dorms for men and women, that each sleeps four to six people. Modern communal bathroom facilities are available. Facilities are provided separately for males and females. The accommodation may be basic, but the views, space, and country air make up for it.
This venue really gives you a chance to "disconnect" from your everyday world, and enjoy gorgeous countryside while immersing in your spiritual growth while on retreat.
Do you have a meditation practice but feel like it is time for the next step? If yes, this retreat is for you. Peter Radcliffe has traveled the world learning and studying the ancient art of meditation, spending time in solitary retreats up to nine months, and has even become an ordained Buddhist monk. When it comes to meditation, you could say that Peter knows his stuff. Let him help you to take your practice to the next step.
This retreat is a deepening of understanding of the foundations of meditation, designed especially for those who want to go further in their existing practice. It is recommended for the beginners to attend a Skillful Mind Technique retreat first. If the participants already have an experience with meditation, then this exclusive retreat will help you to gain the greatest benefit for your meditation practice.
In the Technique Meditation Retreat, Peter taught the participants the first two foundations of mindfulness - body and feeling with some other techniques to start your own meditation practice. To complete your knowledge, and take your meditation practice to a deeper level, this retreat teaches the final two foundations of mindfulness - thought and phenomena.
Meditation offers many benefits for your body, mind, and spirit.
The sense of peace, connectedness, and happiness opens the heart to enable you to live a contented and fulfilled life. Most spiritual traditions around the world have meditation, prayer, or at least self reflection as an important part of their practice. It makes sense that to get to know your spirituality better, you should spend time getting to know yourself better. A lesson that gets forgotten in the current fast paced world one now live in.
Peter is a life coach, meditation teacher, and neuro-linguistic programming trainer. He teaches students though the lens of a calm mind to help bring peace, happiness, and joy to their lives. Peter's unique background as a Buddhist monk empowers his retreats to be so much more than an ordinary getaway, it becomes a journey in itself. Peter began coaching and teaching meditation to small groups in 2004. He left the corporate world behind in 2009 to teach meditation, neuro-linguistic programming, and personal development full time.
