Panchakarma is a five-fold procedure for eliminating accumulated impurities from the mind body physiology. Pancha in Sanskrit means five and karma means action. It, therefore, refers to the five actions that are considered the most powerful, purifying, and rejuvenating procedures in Ayurveda. This unique treatment aims at correcting the imbalance of the biological energies (vata, pitta, and kapha) in order to maintain their inherent equilibrium.
During each season of the year, one or more of the doshas accumulate, which results in an imbalance and makes the body prone to illness. Changes occur in both the mind and body of the individual. This entire process is designed to facilitate the deep-rooted release of stress and encourage the individuals to surrender to the healing process.
The five-fold treatment during Panchakarma is not only intended for an elimination of disease causing toxins but also to replenish the tissues with nourishment. Therefore this is also termed as Ayurvedic rejuvenation therapy. There are three integrated components of the Panchakarma process, namely the preparation phase (in Sanskrit known as poorva karma), the principal procedures (pradhana karma, and the post treatment care which includes diet regimen and other dos and don'ts (paschat karma).
In this day and age, most people are familiar with the term Ayurveda (the world’s oldest medicinal and healing system). Ayurveda, as an oral tradition, can be traced back to the days of the Indus Valley Civilization and its first written records are over five thousand years old. Over time, Ayurvedic knowledge has evolved with subtle variations and additions from different scholars.
It is from this collective compendium of knowledge, that Shreyas Retreat at Anaha Spa draws their inspiration for their healing and wellness therapies. Ayurvedic remedies involve simple or complex herbal ingredients that one ingests or applied during a well-planned regime of intrinsic and extrinsic techniques. With an organic garden close at hand, most of Anaha Spa’s herbal compounds are made in-house, ensuring you have the most natural healing procedures.
These natural compounds, similar to those present within the human body, can address the imbalance of elements (the wind, water, fire, air, and space). Achieving a balance between the elemental energies revitalizes the immune system and sets the healing processes into motion. Beyond the physiological imbalances, Ayurveda is also considered the physical and mental environments.
Increasingly, Western forms of medicine are also acknowledging the critical role of the physical space and one’s mindset in tapping into the body’s healing mechanisms. That’s why Anaha Spa, with its expert consultants and practitioners, as also its colorful gardens, airy spaces and quiet pavilions can offer you a holistic, healing experience. Break away from your everyday rhythm and routine, chart your regime of remedies, relaxation, and recreation for the perfect rejuvenation and revitalization of the body, mind, and soul!
Ayurveda is not about instantaneous results, although you will see many immediate benefits. In accordance with the laws of nature, it will take time to gently restore full balance. The treatments, products, and facilities are not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice and treatment of any conditions, medical or otherwise that you may have.
Shreyas uses products not known to cause any allergic or adverse reactions. However, the well-being of the guests is of utmost importance to them and therefore, you are advised to inform any known allergies, hypersensitivity to any ingredients, skin conditions or disorders, illness, injuries, recent surgeries and any other health conditions or relevant information.
This will help to ensure that your needs are taken care of and that your retreat experience does not in any way interfere with any medical or health conditions that you may have. The type and duration of the treatments may vary according to the direction of the doctor and process may change depending upon your body type and condition. Excellence is a manifestation of the Divine and annam (food) is simply another facet of Divinity. Divinity and food are inextricably linked. You are what you eat. In the Upanishads, it is stated that the subtler part of food makes your mind while the gross part makes your bones and flesh. How they cook, what they cook and how they serve are important in equal measure. Cooking, serving and eating are divine processes.
At Shreyas, they are mindful of which seeds are planted, how land is nurtured and harvested. They care about recipes and the process of cooking and understand the mindset of the person cooking is important. All cooking at Shreyas starts with the chanting of a prayer as it reminds them of the presence of Divinity amongst their midst. They hope they cook and serve accordingly.
At Shreyas, the chefs bring you dishes inspired by their travels around the world (Indian, continental, Mexican and oriental gourmet vegetarian cuisine). The process of nourishing you begins outside the kitchen, in the expansive organic gardens, which are lovingly tended with due respect given to nature. Shreyas means all round excellence, its manifestation is considered the purpose of their lives.
Shreyas is inherent and is achieved by harnessing, refining and purifying your body / mind energies and spiritualizing your actions and emotions, thereby allowing the divine qualities within to shine forth. Hence, dosha specific Ayurvedic vegetarian meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will be served for you in the dining area. Alcohol is neither served nor permitted at Shreyas, and guests are requested not to bring their own for private consumption.
