Accommodation choices vary and include dorms, private rooms with a shared bath, and private rooms with a private bath. You may also bring your own tent and camp at one of the tent sites. If you choose dorm accommodation, you will board in the modern dormitory, Vivekananda Vihar, conveniently located near classrooms and the meditation and dining halls. Men and women are housed separately. There are rooms that accommodate up to six people. Generally, Yogaville is able to arrange accommodations so that the smaller rooms house two or three people and the larger rooms house four or five people. Private rooms are available at an additional price. Please keep in mind that private rooms are limited. If a private room is your accommodation choice, it is recommended to secure your reservation by applying early, especially during the summer season.

Dormitory

The most popular accommodations are the dormitory accommodations, which comprise of a shared room and shared bathrooms. There are two dormitories, Vivekananda Vihar and Ramalinga Nilayam, which are centrally heated and air-conditioned. The rooms are able to comfortably accommodate from two to eight people in upper and lower bunk beds.

Lotus Guesthouse

Another accommodation option is the Lotus Guesthouse. Each room in the six unit guesthouse is equipped with a small refrigerator, queen size bed, and full bathroom, while each room in the nine unit guesthouse is equipped with a queen size bed, a full bathroom, but no refrigerator. The newest Lotus Guesthouse has 22 private rooms and bathrooms. Twelve have a full size bed, two have a single bed, and eight have two single beds.

Camping

For a quieter option, you may pick the camping option. Set off in a quiet, wooded area adjacent to the Lotus Guesthouse is 12 campsites. Campers have use of the bathroom, shower, and laundry facilities nearby Vivekananda Vihar dormitory. Camping is available from March 15 to December 1. Please bring your own tent, bedding, and towels. Also, all tent sites have tent platforms for a more comfortable and dry camping experience.

You will receive a carefully crafted education in this Integral Yoga approach to teaching Hatha yoga. You will be taught how to give clear instructions and list the benefits for each of the core postures, breathing practices, chants, and meditation in the classic sequence and you will be able to lead students in the traditional style deep relaxation.

You will study and practice the various aspects of Integral Yoga, including meditation, breathing practices, chanting, selfless service, yoga philosophy, and more. When you graduate, you will have the knowledge and experience to stand before a group and teach a class with confidence and ease.

Each day begins with meditation at 06:00, followed by a Hatha yoga class. During the day, you will have training courses, workshops, practice sessions, a noon meditation at the beautiful LOTUS Temple, and some free time. This schedule covers six days and five nights a week. You are expected to stay at the ashram for the entire time to successfully complete the program.

Integral Yoga

Integral Yoga is a complete science that cultivates and maintains the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health of the individual. The non-competitive approach and meditative exploration of the Integral Yoga practices create an indrawn awareness that allows each student to reconnect with deeper and more subtle aspects of being. The comprehensive certification programs provide a strong foundation for personal and spiritual development, an appreciation for nurturing a personal practice and the skills to become a knowledgeable and professional Yoga teacher. The Integral Yoga training process fosters the teachers sensitivities to help create a safe environment for their students that allow them to realize their potential, gain self-respect and learn to be of greater service to others. The Integral Yoga system of Hatha yoga is utilized by the Commonweal Cancer Help program and Dr. Dean Ornish in his book, Dr. Dean Ornish's program for reversing heart disease.

Karma yoga: The path of dedicated action and selfless service

Satchidananda Ashram-Yogaville is a vibrant spiritual center founded by Sri Swami Satchidananda. A unique yoga community, it serves as an oasis for spiritual unfoldment, benefiting residents and guests alike. Situated on the banks of the James River in Buckingham, Virginia with the Blue Ridge Mountains as a backdrop, it encompasses over 600 acres of serene, wooded landscape. Five sacred sites, including the LOTUS temple, provide a variety of options for meditation, prayer, and spiritual gatherings.   • Leave interstate 64 at exit for route 20 south towards Scottsville.
  • Follow directions from Charlottesville via route 20 south.

Driving directions from Charlottesville

  • Take the exit for interstate 64 west toward Lynchburg on 29 south bypass.
  • Continue for about four miles on the bypass.
  • Take interstate 64 east toward Richmond.
  • After about three miles, take exit 121 A onto route 20 south.
  • Follow route 20 through Scottsville.
  • Cross the James River and continue on route 20 for about 8 miles into Buckingham County.
  • Look for route 655 on your right. It will be marked with a small rectangular white sign. 655 is on the right immediately after Midway Market.
  • Go right onto 655 (route 655s name changes from Glenmore road to Jerusalem Church road to Manteo) and continue for five miles to a stop sign. There will be small stores on both sides.
  • Continue straight through the stop sign on 655 for seven miles (655 becomes 601 after a short time). At the end of a winding hill is the intersection of 601 and 604.
  • Route 604 is named Woodland Church road.
  • Turn left onto route 604.
  • After 0.75 miles, turn right at the sign that read Sivananda Hall, Visitors.
  • Proceed to Sivananda Hall reception area.

Driving directions from New York City

  • Take George Washington Bridge, Holland or Lincoln Tunnels to New Jersey Turnpike south until it ends or switch off at exit 7 or below to interstate 295 south to avoid toll.
  • Both turnpike and interstate 295 take you to Delaware Memorial Bridge
  • Cross the bridge and continue through Delaware on interstate 95 south to Baltimore, following the signs.

Driving directions continuing from Baltimore

  • Stay on interstate 95 and take the Harbor Tunnel-Thruway over and under Baltimore and stay on interstate 95 south, following signs toward Washington, DC.
  • Before you reach DC, exit onto the Capitol Beltway, interstate 495, west, Silver Spring, toward Frederick and Bethesda.
  • Following interstate 495 from Maryland into Virginia, around Washington, until exit 49 (22 miles) for interstate 66 west toward Manassas.
  • After about 12 miles, exit off interstate 66 (exit 52) to route 29 South until Charlottesville.
  • Follow directions from Charlottesville.

Driving directions from Washington, DC

  • Take Constitution Avenue toward the George Washington Monument.
  • Go onto interstate 66 west. Take interstate 66 out of Washington and continue for about 45 minutes to exit 43A toward Warrenton and Gainsville.
  • Take route 29 south into Charlottesville.
  • Follow directions from Charlottesville.

Driving directions from Richmond

  • Take route 60 west about 60 miles through Buckingham Courthouse.
  • About 1.5 miles past the Courthouse on route 60, turn right onto route 56.
  • Continue on route 56 for about eight miles, past route 604 on the left, and then after .06 miles, turn right onto route 604.
  • After about four miles, continue pass the first green sign that reads Welcome to Yogaville (on the corner of route 604 and Karuna road).
  • Continue on route 604 for another 0.8 miles and turn left at the second large green sign that reads Sivananda Hall - Visitors.
  • Proceed to Sivananda Hall reception area.

Driving directions from Lynchburg

  • Take route 29 north (towards Charlottesville).
  • Go about 30 miles to Lovingston.
  • Turn right (east) on route 56 towards Shipman.
  • Travel about 11.5 miles cross the James River.
  • In two miles turn left onto route 604.
  • After about four miles, continue pass the first green sign that reads Welcome to Yogaville (on the corner of route 604 and Karuna road).
  • Continue on route 604 for another 0.8 miles and turn left at the second large green sign that reads Sivananda Hall - Visitors

  • Take 15 north to the outskirts of Farmville, Virginia.
  • Take 15 bypass.

Public transportation from your area into Charlottesville is available via Amtrak or Greyhound Bus. There is no public transportation from Charlottesville to Yogaville. You may wish to rent your own car or contact Yogaville Satchidananda Ashram for their provided pick-up and drop-off service in Charlottesville.
