Accommodation is provided in beautifully furnished 5-metre bell tents. Nestled amongst the lemon and orange groves, the bell tents are simple but sumptuous, with electricity and comfortable beds. Each tent can sleep up to three people. Crisp bed linen and pool towels are provided. There are solar hot and cold powered showers facilities. Internet access is available. There is a small shop on site for all those little essentials you might need.

In yoga we sometimes talk about our 5 bodies, enveloping the soul:

  • Annamaya kosha - Our physical form (the most dense sheath)
  • Pranamaya kosha - Our energetic + emotional body or sheath (more subtle)
  • Manamaya kosha - The mental body/sheath (more subtle still)
  • Vijnanamaya kosha - The wisdom body/sheath (again more subtle)
  • Anandamaya kosha - The body/sheath of pure bliss (the subtlest layer)

Your Rustic Retreats journey

Whatever arises during the week will be most welcome and Leonie will endeavour to support each of you in your own healing journey. There will be some guided meditations and yoga Nidra and you will also sit together in silent meditation to allow the natural processing and release of outdated conditioning and Energy in Motion to take place. Leonie intends this week to be a profound, internal journey from wherever you are when you arrive into deeper and deeper states of awareness and a fuller expression of your true self.

Most of us have created many layers of protection in our physical, mental and emotional bodies that have helped us to deal with the challenges of the past. While this was a useful strategy, it numbs our sensitivity and ability to deeply experience life. Now is a time of evolution and the elevation of the mass consciousness of this planet in which we are being asked to release these old, fear based patterns and step into the fullness of our true potential as human beings.

Times will vary slightly on each retreat. There is one workshop a day, it may be in the morning or afternoon. There is also the option to visit local markets on Wednesday and Sunday.

Style of yoga to be taught

During this yoga week, you will be particularly focusing your attention on the healing of your emotional body (an aspect of pranayama kosha). You will practice a variety of postures in Hatha yoga style but include many that will wake up the energy of specific chakras in order to move and expand the prana in these psychic centres.

You will give plenty of space and time to really feel into these centres to activate them more fully and release old, stuck emotion, trapped in the body that could have lead to disease.

Throughout the week you will use your focused attention, yoga exercises and a variety of other tools to fully process these old emotions and release them. Leonie will be sharing many techniques that have helped her, her clients and students over nearly 20 years as a Holistic therapist and dedicated yoga practitioner (now teacher). These tools will all be ones that you can continue to use at home if you choose to and could offer you a new, healthier relationship to your emotions and transform your ability to accept and release all types of pain from your mental, physical and emotional bodies.

The week will be suitable for everyone, whether you have an awareness of having repressed emotions, a particular issue or past trauma you feel ready to let go of, are feeling a bit blocked or stuck or just have a general curiosity about this theme.

Leonie feels she has developed great compassion, understanding and empathy due to the intensity and depth of her own healing journey. Anyone who has known her for more than 25 years will agree that she has transformed, almost beyond recognition, from the broken and defensive person that she used to be. She has been blessed with many amazing teachers, with many faiths and traditions and is very excited about putting together the tools that she feels have helped her the most and weaving them into the yoga framework of this course.

Each morning, after tuning into how you really feel, you will do our best to welcome these feelings as you practice traditional Hatha yoga on the mountain platform. Watching the sun rise over the beautiful valley that encompasses Bagend, you will explore opening, flowing, holding and balancing postures to stimulate the movement of prana within your bodies. There will be an optional daily workshop in which you will try out different ways of healing and releasing layers of stuck emotion (details below); and each afternoon you will practice Yoga - as taught by Swami Purohit, who is a true Himalayan master of all limbs of yoga and who Leonie has been extremely lucky to have had as her teacher for the last 10 years.

This style is gentle but extremely powerful and allows us to activate and gain deeper, tangible access to pranamaya, manamaya, vijnanamaya and anandamaya koshas.

Workshop 1 - Holistic massage to explore the power of touch

An introductory workshop to develop a feel for some simple massage techniques and an understanding of when and where to apply them therapeutically. We will all have a chance to experience the giving and receiving of these gifts to enjoy, increase body awareness, connection with others and the release of tension. We may also try some specific, reflexology balancing points.

Workshop 2 - Navel centre activation to dissolve the pain body

Many of us have a lot of unprocessed emotion stuck in the form of density in the abdominal area. As we use simple exercises and focused awareness to activate the navel centre chakra we will stimulate a stronger movement of energy that will begin to dislodge it so we can permanently clear it from our system. We will use the words of the great spiritual teacher - Eckhart Tolle, in his description and practice of dissolving the pain body to help us accept the feelings that arise and allow them to flow out of us easily.

Workshop 3 - Emotional freedom technique (EFT)

An introductory workshop to learn the basic recipe of this simple and powerful technique that can be used to quickly to restore internal balance in a wide variety of situations. Using a gentle tapping motion to some meridian points in easily accessible areas of the body we can work through and dissolve layers of emotion, often discovering the root of an issue that was previously hidden. Leonie has been using this technique with many clients, friends and herself for 15 years and has found it extremely useful to help de-stress body and mind.

It can be very effective to use in relation to physical issues as well as mental and emotional and often helps to relieve pain in emergency situations, including ones that happened many years before (as in post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD).

Workshop 4 - Meeting the inner child workshop

In this session we will use guided meditation to meet and welcome our inner child, just as he or she is. This attention and acceptance is usually very welcome and builds a bridge of understanding for any unhealed aspects of our character that appear to be stuck in time to evolve and be integrated back into our present being. This process frees up trapped energy in the body/mind system, creating wholeness and peace.

Workshop 5 - The Power of Crystals

In this practical workshop we will learn some ways of looking after, cleansing and recharging crystals; how to use our intuition and some simple principles to select them and bring holistic healing to ourselves and others. We will have a go at using crystal nets for chakra balancing and some other specific purposes.

Many years ago Leonie remembers doubting the fact that crystals could have a powerful effect on the human body and was grateful when someone pointed out that they are the source of power in computers and mobile phones! Leonie discovered how dramatically they can offer relief when she was in a crisis situation and has been grateful for their help ever since; using them therapeutically on herself and in her work as a holistic therapist.

    She has completed yoga teacher training in India and Spain. She loves teaching as has a great interest in healing and transformation and is deeply inspired by the possibilities of empowering people to heal themselves through yoga. Her preferred style is a fusion of traditional Hatha yoga and the Pure yoga of Swami Purohit. In her classes you can expect plenty of stimulating and opening movement, followed by deep relaxation, powerful pranayama breathing exercises and access to deeper levels of consciousness inside you.She has an interest in all yoga paths.

Rustic Retreats run beautifully yoga retreats in the Sierra Espuna mountain range in Southern Spain. A stunning estate, totally off-grid, with zero light pollution, solar power, and fresh spring water. The unique yoga platform sits nestled into the side of the mountain, with breath taking views across the tranquil valley.

Stimulate all your senses whilst you absorb the bright colors, beautiful textures, tantalizing flavors, and sublime aromas of the fresh food served at Rustic Retreats. The chef will create a myriad of fresh, healthy vegetarian meals to tantalize your pallet, all using the ripest, freshest, seasonal ingredients that are locally produced either from their very own organic garden and vegetable patch or from the local market and farmers.

Varieties of fruit are growing freely on the site such as lemons, oranges, almonds, pomegranate, and carob to name but a few. All vegetarian meals are lovingly prepared by a trained chef in the outdoor kitchen and are served 'al fresco' whenever possible. All meals are included in the price. The meals have been so popular with the clients that they are looking at producing a recipe book for next season.
