This retreat aims to facilitate a deepened connection between self and universal wisdom immersing you in the culture, people, traditions, nature, food, and arts of the places Root 2 Rise Yoga inspired to visit. They pre-visit and choose retreat locations that promote a balance between your choice of inner reflection and opportunities to mingle with locals and other adventurous travelers to experience genuine cultural exchange. Root 2 Rise Yoga's chosen accommodations are comfortable and in safe locations within walking distance of fun places to visit and explore to be a part of the local community. Root 2 Rise Yoga mindfully supports the local economy, arts, and environment where they travel whenever possible and hopes to foster an appreciation for diverse cultures and understanding of your essential oneness as humanity.
Luxury cabins, or casitas, include one or two king-sized beds, a fully-equipped kitchen with refrigerator, spacious balcony with hammock and panoramic views of the rainforest and the Pacific ocean, large ceiling fans, a large bathroom with hot water, hairdryer, and basic toiletries (shampoo, soap, lotion, towels). Meals are served in El Mirador restaurant, a short walk away. Santa Juana's small mountain village temperatures average 70 - 80 Fahrenheit with typical rain in the late afternoon / evening and sometimes early morning, creating thriving green plant life.
A shared 7-bedroom 3-story luxury vacation villa overlooks the jungle and the Pacific Ocean, sitting atop Manuel Antonio center. It's a walking distance to beaches, top restaurants and cafes, the tours office, bus stop for accessing the adjacent town and the national park, some nightlife, and a small business center, which includes a bank, grocery store, and souvenir shop. Each bedroom includes one queen-sized bed, dresser, air-conditioner, and fan. A few bedrooms have a private balcony and some have ocean views. Guests choose their bedroom in the order in which they registered. Guests share one to two bathrooms per floor, with a total of five full restrooms equipped with hot water, towels, soap, shampoo, and lotion. Each floor has a communal living room with couches. The first floor has a fully-equipped kitchen and a large shared balcony for your at-home open-air yoga sessions overlooking the jungle and ocean. The weather in Manuel Antonio in June is warm 70 - 80 Fahrenheit, but generally warmer and drier than Santa Juana, humid and may rain briefly in the early mornings and evenings making for refreshing air in the day, during this start of the rainy season.

Root 2 Rise Yoga believes in mindful eco-conscious travel and aims to build bridges of peace among cultures through the educationally fun integration of the arts. They value nature, culture, and alignment with living yoga, balancing wellness instruction, playfulness and freedom to explore town living like a local. Root 2 Rise Yoga believes in giving, not just receiving, love where they visit, with optional activities like environmental conservation projects, volunteering and donating books to local schools.
Root 2 Rise Yoga supports the local economy visiting a variety of neighborhood restaurants for your included meals and hiring locals for your guided excursions. Lastly, Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica is a special destination to your retreat leader in that she hosts these retreats inspired by her gratitude for the life-transformative experiences she received during her 14-month volunteer teaching there that led to her becoming a yoga teacher, founding Root 2 Rise yoga in 2010.
Daily yoga and meditation include daily morning Vinyasa, three evening Restorative yoga, and meditation sessions with Michelle Chua for intention-setting, rebalancing, and personal reflection. Cooking class will let you learn how to make traditional Costa Rican food from Santa Juana's local chef. Hike and yoga session is depending on weather and the tribe's needs, you'll enjoy one to two hike and yoga sessions at a local beach in Manuel Antonio with Michelle. Furthermore, The Community-building within your retreat tribe will consist of group activities for personal and tribal reflection.

"Live from the heart and share your creativity and love with the world", inspire Michelle Chua’s life path as a yoga and meditation facilitator. Practicing yoga since 2001, she began teaching in 2010, recovering with yoga from a yearlong debilitating dance injury and challenging times living abroad in Africa and Costa Rica as a volunteer school teacher. Integrating her lifelong love of dancing, culture, and playing in nature, she facilitates breath-centered alignment-based yoga as a vehicle for connecting with universal wisdom and pure joy. She hopes to share her love of Costa Rica with you.
This retreat will take place in Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park, Costa Rica.
Traditional Costa Rican meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) homemade with love and local seasonal ingredients are included during your stay in Santa Juana on day one and two. Group breakfast and dinner will be provided at various local restaurants in Manuel Antonio. Lunch is on your own while exploring on your free time, and is included in some optional tours. Please indicate any dietary needs, i.e., allergies, vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, etc, on your online registration form.

Please book your flight to arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO). Transfer from and to the airport is included.
Root 2 Rise Yoga will pick you up from the airport. Please allow for at least an hour between your plane's arrival and completing customs check, so that you are ready to board your group ground transport by 10 a.m.
