During the program, you will be staying at Nirvana Yoga Shala. Rooms are available in private room. There are three private room options such as Mysore Yuvaraja private room with private bathroom, Mysore Royal Yuvaraja air-conditioned private room with private bathroom, and Mysore king or queen suite air-conditioned with master bed room, living room, private bathroom, kitchen, and balcony.

Hatha Yoga Asana’s (Physical Postures)

The very meaning of Hatha (Hata) yoga means “challenge oneself”. In Hatha yoga, holding the poses for longer period attains steadiness of the body and mind, freedom from disease, and lightness of the limbs. Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is a concise definition of yoga asanas "Sthiram Sukham asana" meaning that "positions which are comfortable and steady" asanas holding for a longer period which will increase health, longevity, open energy centers, and psychic centers.

The perfection of asanas gives a stable foundation for the exploration of body, breath, mind, and beyond. Hatha yogis down the ages found developing control over the body through asana. The mind will be controlled and stabilized. Hence, the practice of asana is foremost in Hatha yoga.

Course description

The course presents a strong emphasis on the classical Hatha yoga series practicing four level of Asana, hip opening, and back bending, basic and advance pranayama, and basic and advance meditations. Trainees expected to maintain a daily yoga practice during the training. The course includes following areas of study:

  • Philosophy of Bhagavad Gita

Course objectives

  • You will be able to practice and teach level one to four classical Hatha yoga series, how to give hands on adjustment, and lead the led class.
  • You will be able to use yoga accessories like bricks, bolsters, belt, chair, and learn how to teach injury-free yoga.
  • Learn hip opening and back bending techniques and how to teach.
  • Learn yogic breathing Basic and Advance techniques.
  • Learn philosophy of Patanjali Yoga sutras Samadhi Pada, Sadhana Pada, Vibhuti Pada, and Kaivalya Pada.
  • Learn active and passive meditation techniques and how to teach the same techniques.
  • Learn basic and advance anatomy for yoga and understand articulation of body parts based on asanas.
  • Learn basic skills in business, marketing, and ethics of yoga.

Asana practice level one to four and teaching methodology ( 200 Hours )

Level one is a led class focus on basic stretches, Surya Namaskar A (sun salutations), standing poses, sitting poses, supine poses, prone poses, and finishing sequence. Total 45 Individual asanas will be covered. The second week focuses on self-practice alignments and adjustments from faculties and trainees.

Level two is a led class focused on advanced stretches, Surya Namaskar B, and advance poses of standing, sitting, supine, prone, and finishing sequences.Total 40 advance individual poses will be covered.

Level 3 is Asana’s led practice will be introduced with basic and Advance stretches, Surya namaskar A and B, and more than 35 advanced poses will be practiced. More space for self-practice will be given and the instructors will come around to give you the hands-on adjustment, correction of poses, and poses alignment.

Level 4 is a led class advance series, advance stretches, handstand sequence, advanced hip opening, and back bending series. Trainees will lead the led class and able to give hands-on adjustment.

Afternoon class teaching methodology focus on individual poses from level one to four, on how to practice correctly and alignment, using yoga accessories like belts, bricks, bolsters, and how to lead the class, hands-on adjustment.

Yogic breathing practice (Pranayama 48 hours)

You will learn the yogic breathing practice or known as pranayama. Pranayama is control of Breath. "Prana" is Breath or vital energy in the body. On subtle levels, Prana represents the Pranic energy responsible for life or life force, and “Ayama” means control. So Pranayama is "control of breath".

One can control the rhythms of Pranic energy with Pranayama and achieve healthy “body-mind”. Bandas and mudras will be introduced to you during pranayama sessions. Classes on shantkarma’s, nauli, jala nethi, and much more will also be conducted.

Anatomy and physiology for yoga (40 hours)

Covering some of the basics of muscular-skeletal anatomy, they will also be looking closely at joint mechanics, where movement comes from, the nature of body tissues, and how they are affected through yoga. Sessions will include multimedia presentations, hands-on anatomy, case studies of injuries, and why difficulties with certain movements can occur.

Lectures will include anatomy basics, terminology, movements and surface anatomy. How tissues are affected during asana, the nervous system, the spine and intervertebral Disc, the knee, the hip, the shoulder and elbow, the ankle, and balance postural analysis.

Meditation (48 hours)

Techniques that will be covered includes intoning the sounds, third eye, Nadabrahma, Osho Kundalini, chakra sounds, chakra breathing, Gauri Shankara, relaxing body and mind, conscious sleeping and dreaming, Vipassana, and Zazen.

The entire eight Limbs of the Patanjali system are also sometimes referred to as Dhyana or the meditative path, although strictly speaking, only the last four limbs constitute meditation Pratyahara, Dhyana, Dharana, and Samādhi. The preceding steps are only to prepare the body and mind for meditation. Meditation starts by being separating the mind, by being a witness. That is the only way of separating ourselves from anything.

Many meditative techniques require one to sit still and silent. But for most of the people accumulated stress in body-mind makes that difficult. Before you can hope to access your inner powerhouse of consciousness, you need to let go of your tensions. Active meditations have been scientifically designed by Osho for the contemporary man. The activity itself creates the situation in which passivity happens.

Patanjali yoga sutras (60 hours)

Yoga Sutras of Patanjali succinctly outlines the art and science of yoga meditation for self-realization. It is a process of systematically encountering, examining, and transcending each of the various gross and subtle levels of false identity in the mind field until the jewel of the true self comes shining through.

When Patanjali codified or compiled the yoga Sutras, it was not that a new system was created, but rather, the ancient practices were summarized in an extremely organized and scientific way.

Back bending and hip opening classes (20 hours)

Back bending is an integral part of any yoga practice. Back bending postures help to increase lung capacity, prevent arthritis, removes depression, strengthen and align the spine.

Hip opening in yoga help to keep the pelvis and hips in proper alignment which also prevents strain and tightness in the pelvis. Hip opening postures help to come out from stress and anxiety. Back bending and hip opening asanas help the practitioner to gain confidence in advance Hatha yoga and Ashtanga yoga postures.

Ayurvedic diet, ethics, and business of yoga (20 hours)

On Saturdays, guest lecturers will be invited to talk about the Ayurvedic yogic diet, ethics, cultural and traditional inheritance of yogic schools of India and how to set up a studio to teach yoga and business of yoga.

Materials

The course will provide a full manual which covers all the modules of the syllabus. Pre-reading of books will be mailed to students and are expected to read themselves from yoga related professional shop or online reading. Dropbox sharing of all course material to keep a copy in the computer will be given.

Prerequisites

The practitioners are expected to have minimum one year of any style of yoga practice before they can be accepted into the program. The style of yoga can be Sivananda, Hatha, Ashtanga, Power yoga, Bikram, Vinyasa, or any other style of Yoga Prior notice is must in the case of practitioners having major injuries, chronic health issues, or psychological issues.

Evaluation procedure and grading criteria

  • Trainee will be accessed on asana performance, teaching led class, and hands-on adjustments.
  • Trainee should able to teach pranayama class including the names of each technique and contraindications of each technique.
  • If Trainee gets injured during the course and could not able to continue the course, certification will not be given and school will not offer partial or full refunds.

Please note that on the last day of the teacher training course, there will be certification distribution ceremony and dinner get together party will be organized.

    Yoga Alliance RYT 200 (Hatha Yoga)

    B. Srinatha has 22 years of experience in teaching Iyengar yoga, He started practicing yoga when he was 12 years. He started learning yoga with Sri Gopalajeeyar. B.K.S. Iyengar and many other senior teachers in India to enhance his knowledge in yoga.He attended lots of State, National and International yoga championships and won lot of gold, silver and bronze medal since 1993. Srinath follows the Iyengar teaching method, which emphasizes systematic instruction in the fundamentals of body alignment in a variety of yoga poses.

  • Abhijith Ravindra

    Abhi holds a master degree in physical training and he has been teaching yoga for eight years now. He specializes in exercise physiology, anatomy kinesiology and bio mechanics, fundamentals of health and fitness, sport training (GTMT), and principles and practices of management. He is the founder of RE3 Command Fitness, The Next Step, and Cynthia’s Dance Studio.

  • Stella

    Stella is from South America. She has experience in Andean shamanism practice, she also had personal transformation experiences by fasting, traveling induced by sounds of drums, lucid dreams, holotropic breathing (by Stanislav Grof), silence diet, meditation, gem therapy, circles of women, the circle of voices, Reiki, yoga and Ayurvedic massage. She lives in India, working and teaching Munay Ki, Reiki, Ayurvedic massage, mudras, mantra chants, kirtans, and yoga. She is also experienced in Hatha yoga and is a qualified Tantra yoga teacher.

This yoga teacher training will take place at the Nirvana Yoga Shala in Mysore, India. The shala is located at the Gokulam suburb, one of the upmarket suburbs in Mysore. It has a convenient location that offers privacy and a friendly environment to hang out with your fellow students.

Vegetarian food will be served. The food included is breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Mondays to Fridays. On Saturdays, only a buffet lunch is included. On Sunday, meals are not included, but students can try the vegetarian restaurants that are within walking distance from the school.

During this training, you can enjoy an Ayurvedic massage, Himalayan singing bowls, past life sessions, and Reiki sessions for an additional cost.

Please book your flight to arrive at Kempegowda International Airport (BLR). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request for an additional cost. You can ask for a mini cab for around 3200 (INR), a mini cab with air conditioner for 3700 (INR), or a SUV cab for approximately 4700 (INR).

From Kempegowda International Airport, you may take a bus to the downtown bus station and then you can take a bus or train to Mysore.

You can take a train from Delhi to Bengaluru and then change to Mysore.

    "I spent a week at Mystic School and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I did both styles, Iyengar and Ashtanga. Both teachers are friendly and very experienced with students of all levels. The classes were fairly small, around two to eight people for each session which is great because you get hands on adjustment from the teachers. The afternoon classes are fairly empty so if you're not familiar with Ashtanga yoga you can give them a go. I was the only one there for one of the classes; a private session - can't ask for more than that. Prices are a little high though at Rs. 500 per session. Accommodation is basic but clean and modern, and everything works as it should. Wi-Fi is fast and free everyday. There's a rooftop common area with a spa and hammock but I never saw anyone using this area. Gokulam is a cool place to stay too, plenty of great cafes and restaurants."

    "I had simply the best yoga experience at Mystic School. After arriving in Gokulam and practicing with Jai Prakash I found out they were offering a 200-hour Ashtanga teacher training in four days time and luckily I was able to enroll in the course and move into a room there on site. Jai was just what I needed in a teacher, very direct clear instructions that followed the tradition of those teachers before him. He has such a great knowledge of the primary series, which I was studying, but I’m sure that he knows a great deal about the more advanced sequences from the small glimpses we got of seeing his own practice. I completed a Vinyasa teacher training a year earlier and this course certainly enhanced my teaching skills a lot! My own personal practice had never felt better and without doubt I advanced and continued to do so in the following couple of weeks following. Accommodation at Mystic was completely comfortable, I had my own kitchen and balcony to chill out in and being able to stay with my fellow classmates built lifelong friendships I will never forget."

    "What a great place to immerse yourself in yoga. I spent 21 days here and would return in a heartbeat. I stayed in an en-suited room with a kitchen and as a bonus there was a private balcony as well. The school is at walking distance from many great cafe's and other yoga schools.     "They have the best teachers with the greatest knowledge. Great cozy and friendly environment. You will feel like as if you were at home. It feels so good that you have the chance to learn philosophy and yoga sutras with the very best guruji pandaji, you are going to love him, and anatomy with Dr. Robert Lambert, great chiropractor. And last but not least the very best and amazing Ashtanga teacher Surya Vasta, half Russian- half Indian, who makes it really simple to understand everything.     "I did the 200-hour Hatha teacher training course at Mystic and strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a holistic training in yoga. The Asana training by Srinatha was exceptionally good. He made me do things I never imagined I could do. He has a deep understanding of the postures and is very creative with teaching. I could not have asked for a better teacher! The pranayama and mediation training taught by Shashi was fabulous. Being an Indian I thought I knew all about pranayama, but this is the first time I experienced the power of pranayama. We did several meditations as part of the teacher training course, both active and classical. The philosophy classes by Maharishi Pandeji and anatomy classes by Rob Lamport were superb and gave me a deeper understanding of yoga practice. Last but not the least, the accommodation is very comfortable and support staff friendly and helpful."

    "I did the Ashtanga teacher training course in September 2015. It was an amazing experience. As much of a cliché thing it is to say, it really was. If you are looking to deepen your yoga experience, that is learning asana, pranayama, and history, I think this place will create a very encouraging atmosphere and foster a chance for you to develop yourself, and look deeper within as a human being. The daily medication and pranayama classes really complimented each other. Teachers are really helpful and understanding to each students needs. Jai, the asana teacher, is both strict and kind. And also at times funny. You can really see the dedication Jai has to the practice and to sharing his knowledge to all students, body types and all skill levels. Shashi the owner is also very light hearted, funny and kind, and very knowledgeable in many meditation techniques. There was one time during a meditation session, I felt so comfortable, and stayed meditating longer, even when the session was over, and everyone had left. Shashi did not disturb me at all, and allowed me to stay in the room meditating longer, and he just did his own things. I felt a complete sense of peace and connection to something, that I couldn't describe. What ever is was, it was a very nice and amazing experience, that happened with the help the school. Just wanted to share an experience there which was very nice to me. Also one morning during asana class, my leg kind of left funny, and Jai was very understanding, encouraged me to take rest for the day, and recommended some oils for me to buy to rub on my leg.     "I did four weeks the Ashtanga Vinyasa teacher training at Mystic school in September 2015. It was an amazing experience with good teachers and participants. Teachers are well experienced and knowledgable. I like the teachers that pay attention to everyone in the class and give great supports to everyone in different level. I also like the environment at Mystic School! Nice and clean accommodation and I felt very cozy. I like the jacuzzi and the steam room on the roof! It is a great place to hang out for social and make connection with friends. I am grateful to met the teachers and friends during the training. Now I am back to Mysore and continuing learning from there."

    "I studied a 200-hour teacher training course at Mystic School last September. I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the course. I was looking to deepen my practice of Ashtanga but to also gain an insight into pranayama and meditation and course met all these requirements. The asana teacher Jai, was incredibly knowledgable and through his clear instructions, I learnt a lot, not only about the asanas but also various modifications and how to adjust others. He was also available to answer any questions at all that we had about our personal practice. Having not practiced much meditation in the past, the meditation classes gave a good introduction to various types of meditation including dynamic meditations which I personally enjoyed a lot.
