Brief program description

The classes will be held six days a week with four days off to rest, enjoy, and integrate what you have learned. There will also be time during the week to go to the beach and relax. Furthermore, your daily schedule will start from 06:30 to 20:30. Embark on a life-changing journey and discover the freedom of yoga, all while being immersed in a spiritual community in the heart of nature.

Upon satisfactory completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion as a yoga teacher. You will have foundational training in Thai massage. If you complete the necessary contact hours and non-contact hours, you can register with Yoga Alliance, the national yoga teacher’s organization.

Specifically, you will learn the asanas in their classic form as well as from a developmental perspective which offers a deep understanding of how the body moves. You will also explore the body from a therapeutic perspective as well as apply the breath, Thai massage, and yoga therapeutic techniques. Thus, this training will prepare and certify you to:

  • Teach a Vinyasa yoga class with precise adjustments and intelligent sequencing
  • Understand common skeletal problems and develop an understanding of how to work preventively and therapeutically
  • Apply anatomy and physiology to yoga and movement
  • Understand the breath and instruct appropriate breathing techniques
  • Sit in daily meditation and be able to instruct on the art of meditation from direct experience
  • Read and discuss Yoga Sutras, The Power of Now, and Buddhist teaching
  • Gain a better understanding of yourself and your students through workshops as the lens
  • Write and practice assignments as well as do a final written evaluation and teaching demo (round out the program)

Thai yoga massage

Thai yoga massage is an energetic and versatile massage technique that takes place in a rhythmic movement pattern. The massage is an ancient treatment art originating from northern India, where yogi Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha developed the technique. In this technique, both the treats and the wearer are dressed and you must wear loose and casual clothes.

On the course, you will review and work with techniques that will enable you to perform one and a half to two hours of full-body massage. It is among other things muscle massage, yoga stretching, acupressure, joint rotation, relaxation exercises, and energy work. You learn a tool to work with your body even with specific problems.

Providing this massage will strengthen you as a therapist as all exercises are developed both with regard to the therapist and the recipient. The exercises will strengthen your physique, and thus, also strengthen your ability to achieve focus in the body and mind. In the space created between the therapist and the recipient, trust and mutual understanding will arise. On the fifth day of the course, you will each give a full body massage and fine-tune the techniques used.

Rhythmic execution is an important element of Thai yoga massage. It causes the recipient to experience the body as a whole and many come from a massage with the feeling of having been on a dream trip in their own body. The masseur enjoys the wide variety of movements and is self-worked throughout the body.

Thai yoga massage differs from other massage shapes especially at its active extension and joint rotation. This active part has a great effect on the body for the recipient as one reverts motion into the joints or almost lubricates leading when you get into positions the normal day is in addition. Similarly, through the stretching section, you will have worked muscles, tendons, and ligaments much stronger than traditional massage.

You must have two blocks, a yoga blanket, and a strap. As texts and manuals are not included, please also note that they should be purchased one month before to ensure that you have them in time for the training.

    Paula Tursi is the founder and director of Reflections Center Yoga and the internationally renowned Reflections Yoga Teacher Training Program. She has been working with alternative healing practices in New York City and internationally for over 20 years. Paula developed Reflections Yoga as a way to integrate what she found most inspirational in other practices with her own personal truth. She began her training at Integral yoga, where she studied Hatha and Restorative yoga.
