Henrike came as a WWOOFer in December 2012 while on a road trip up the coast with her son. She stayed for a month, thriving in the peaceful and balanced atmosphere and the healthy organic environment. She moved to Murwillumbah in April 2013 to manage the administrative side of things and has been the director of the Krishna Village since May 2016. Her secondary focus is her life coaching practice. She holds a Diploma in Life Coaching, a master practitioner of NLP and, apart from coaching clients in her private practice, acts as a mentor for new life coaches for TCI.
Madreya is the founder and head manager of the Krishna Village. He came to the Krishna farm in 2010, taking over the farm gardens to produce fruit and vegetables for the temple. Having managed big events like the Sydney Yoga Expo and the highly successful Govinda Valley retreat previously, he soon developed a vision beyond the gardening side of things and founded the Krishna Village, building additional accommodation, an outdoors kitchen, and other facilities. His main interest these days revolves around raw food, detox, and optimum health, so healthy nutrition is one of the main areas.
Nestled in the foothills of Mount Warning, in the heart of the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, the Krishna Farm, New Govardhana, is a 1,000 acre certified organic property built around one of Australia's most beautiful Hare Krishna temples. The tranquil, spiritual setting comprises orchards, veggie gardens, cows, horses, streams, and swimming holes in abundance.
The Krishna Village is located half way between Byron Bay and the Gold Coast, about 30 minutes inland from the Pacific Highway. The closest town is Murwillumbah, where several bus services stop on their way to and from Byron Bay, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
The Krishna Farm has been producing organic veggies since the 1980s and has therefore fantastic conditions to grow excellent produce. They grow as much of their own food as they can, and otherwise buy locally wherever possible.
The team provides 3 delicious vegetarian meals every day, with lunches taking place at the Krishna Village community kitchen, and breakfast and dinners - mostly Indian style - served at the prasadam hall, next to the temple.
All their food is prasadam - sacred food prepared in a consciousness of loving service. Like in other cultures, they offer their food before they eat to say Grace and thank the Divine for the sun, the rain, and all the visible and invisible blessings necessary to co-create a delicious meal. Feel free to sing along, or just listen and enjoy.
