After travelling the world extensively, Kranti has developed his shala to combine location with the ultimate yogi comfort. The village is situated right on Patnem Beach, you’ll walk right out the back gate and be meters from the sea. You get to soak up the amazing views and calming sea breeze during your practice, whether sunrise, sunset or during the day. It has become a tradition to appreciate your surroundings with sunset walks, meditation, and acro-yoga with your new friends.

The Kranti Village is a 5000-square meters property that has access to both the beach and the roadside. Conveniently spread across two beautiful campuses. Moksha is the ocean-view campus and Sattva is the tranquil garden campus. The spacious deluxe cottages are available exclusively for guests of the school. The options range from four-share garden cottages right through to luxurious beachfront cottages.

All cottages are purpose-built for your comfort so that you can relax and focus on your learning and development. You will fall asleep with the sound of crashing waves and a light sea breeze or sleep nestled among the lush greenery of cashew, coconut, and mango trees. Throughout the course, you will stay at the four-share garden cottages.

Cottages are around 28 square meters and have their own porch, hammock, desk, and swinging chair. Comfortable mattresses, space to lock your valuables, mosquito nets, and western style toilet and shower make up some of the indoor features.

Upon completion of this yoga teacher training, students will receive certificate affiliated with Yoga Alliance. Registration with Yoga Alliance provides a globally recognized credential.

This combination of 200+300 hour training courses makes up a 500 certified hours of Yoga Alliance-approved teacher training. The program is an intensive course that is presented with a progressive approach to yoga. You should be prepared to be mentally, spiritually, and physically challenged. You will be encouraged and invited to explore your own needs as individuals.

The course is designed for you to firstly learn how to be a yoga teacher and then to further develop your experience and knowledge, while further developing your own practice. It is an intensive and rigorous course that will deepen your understanding of Ashtanga, Vinyasa yoga, myofascial release, and related philosophies.

  • Develop and practice a daily pranayama, kriyas, mudras, and meditation practice
  • Learn about the skeletal and muscular systems, and how this affects your practice and your teaching
  • Study the Patanjali Yoga Sutras and learn how to incorporate them into your daily practice and life
  • Learn how to structure a class and then incorporate all these components into designing your own class. Learn to teach this class to your peers in a small group environment and then you will teach this class to your peers as your assessment.

300-hour course objectives

  • Assist and adjust in 200-hour students morning Mysore classes
  • Teach an Ashtanga yoga class (up to navasana and closing sequence)
  • Develop and teach to your peers a mysofascial release class based on curriculum
  • Mentor students from the 200-hour yoga teacher training course and be a teaching assistant to the senior teachers
  • Develop your knowledge about the skeletal, muscular, and respiratory systems, and apply them to your practice and teaching
  • Continue to deepen your physical and spiritual practice through asanas, pranayama, meditation, kriyas, mantras, and mudras
  • Gain further insight into yoga philosophy from texts including Bhagavad Gita and Patanjalis sutras, integrating them into your practice

Anatomy / alignment

These classes will allow you to gain a deeper insight into the primary series by looking in detail at the body mechanics throughout. A revision of the skeletal and muscular system will allow you to become mindful of what is happening in the body during your practice. A familiarity with active release is an important part of being an effective Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga teacher.

This can only be achieved with a sound understanding of what happens in each and every posture anatomically. During these classes, you will also focus on how to modify the practice for your students who have weak areas, whether due to a lack of strength or flexibility.


Adjustments are a key feature of Ashtanga yoga as they allow you to gain further insight into the postures through application of gentle pressure to deepen the stretch. Adjustments can only be learned through practice. You will be offered a hands-on approach that starts with practicing on your peers, moving onto assisting Kranti's main teachers on the 200-hour yoga teacher training course. The practice takes place each morning.

There are many opportunities for you to maximize your potential in this area. This part of the course is unique in terms of the volume of students Kranti has for you to exploit. Each week, you will be given specific adjustments to work on and these will be carried out under the close supervision of your teacher. In order for you to assist or adjust in these classes, you must first demonstrate that you can adjust confidently by means of a small assessment.

Asana practice

You will continue to practice primary series and will have both led Ashtanga yoga classes along with self-practice classes. Each week, your teacher will give you a focus to work towards in order to advance your practice. Technical workshops in the afternoons will continue to develop your techniques in hip opening, jump back, transitions, back-bending, and arm balancing. Not only will you develop your own practice in all of these sessions, you will without doubt pick up helpful ideas to take with you to develop your own students in these areas.

Kriya and mudras

Cleansing will clear the system and allow the breath to flow freely. You will learn and practice all six cleansing techniques (shatkarma) on your course. Mudras will allow you to seal energy within the body. Again, tutorials will support the practice of all of these.


You will review the four pranayama techniques covered in the 200-hour yoga teacher training course along with several more that will help you to lengthen your breath, increase your lung capacity, and strengthen the nervous system. Pranayama practice will allow you to build mental and emotional strength to help you maintain a healthy sense of well-being, not just on the training course but in your everyday daily life.

Tutorials will explain the theory accompanying these breathing techniques, enabling you to further develop your own personal practice. You will also include pranayama when teaching.

Teaching assistant program

A unique feature of this course is that you will act as a teaching assistant. As previously mentioned, you will support morning practice in order to align and adjust students and so it is important that you develop a rapport with them. Students will be allocated for you to mentor on a one-to-one basis. You will be expected to devise personal plans for them with preparation advice for problem postures due to a lack of flexibility or strength.

This is an ideal opportunity for you to demonstrate the correct alignment that you will have learned. All this is closely supervised by your lead teacher. The program is always warmly received by both parties in terms of advancing the practice of the mentee and developing the teaching and communication skills of the mentor.

Teaching methodology

This subject will guide and prepare you for teaching of the primary series. You will learn how give clear instructions and reminders along with how to keep the necessary pace of Ashtanga yoga. This part of the program runs closely with anatomy of alignment classes, as you will be encouraged to provide technical anatomical information to your students. The correct alignment of the postures will naturally be incorporated into your teaching.

Each week, you will teach a section of the primary series, teaching a little more each week. Firstly, you will teach your peers and then progress to teach your own class to Kranti's drop-in students, whose abilities are varied. These classes allow the teachers to gain the valuable experience of dealing with the wide range of yoga students that you can be faced with.

Learning to instruct, demonstrate, motivate, be inclusive, and adapt to individual needs of your students is an integral part of the course. This skill can only be developed by delivering your own classes and getting constructive feedback. This part of the course can be particularly rewarding to you in terms of raising your profile as a yoga teacher, internationally.

Yoga philosophy

Classical yoga philosophy is interwoven throughout the program, drawing on Vedic and Tantric beliefs. You will study influential texts including the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjalis yoga sutras with tutorials designed to promote discussion and debate around these philosophies.

You will be encouraged to incorporate key messages from these texts into your daily practice so that your practice is supported spiritually. Your spiritual development is just as important as your physical development.

Following your arrival in Goa, there will be a welcome ceremony. Classes are all day, from Monday to Saturday with Sunday off. Throughout your stay, you will take part in classes such as technical workshops, technical flow classes, as well as candlelight meditation and full moon meditation once in a month. You will also have some fun with yoga movie night weekly. Additionally, a Pooja graduation ceremony is included in the program.

Throughout the course, there will be teaching teams who provide the most encouraging and supportive learning environment for you. Chefs, groundskeepers, maintenance, housekeeping, reception, and night security staff members always have a smiling face to provide you with the most memorable, informative, and magical community experience.

There is both written and practical assessments for this course, you will be assessed on each of the modules. Your lead trainer will outline the expectations during your first week. There is support and guidance the whole way through this course. Teachers and assistants are available at most times for additional tutorials should you require additional help or practice time.

If you miss a class due to unavoidable reasons, you will need to liaise with your lead trainer to ensure you make up classes to qualify enough hours to be certified. Attendance is important and is closely monitored throughout your course.

Kranti Yoga welcomes students of all levels to join the course. You should practice yoga as much as possible prior to your course and familiarizing yourself with the Ashtanga primary series is strongly encouraged to mentally and physically prepare you for the intensity of this teacher training.

If you have completed your 200-hour YTTC at Kranti Yoga School and want to further your studies with them, it is possible for you to continue straight onto the 300-hour YTTC. This offers you the opportunity for you to be a part of the community for a total of eight weeks.

Kranti (Tarun) Agrawal
Tarun begon zijn spirituele reis toen hij slechts een jongen was. Hij begon met Asana lessen samen met Swami Vidhyanand Saraswati bij Sivananda Kutir Yoga Ashram en trainde daar verschillende yogastijlen zoals Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Sivananda, Kundalini en Raja. Tijdens deze periode kreeg hij ook les in Ayurveda door Dr. Manoj Sharma. Hij begon met yoga op 14 jarige leeftijd en in 2001 was hij al in verschillende ashrams geweest.
Dhira Krishna
Dhira Krishna Rupa Das is momenteel een prediker en raadgever in Goa. Hij geeft reguliere cursussen in Bhagavat Gita en Srimad Bhagwatam in het Engels en Hindoestaans in verschillende delen van Goa. Hij heeft Bhaktishastri, een gecertificeerde cursus gebaseerd op Bhagavat Gita behaald en nam in 2007 fulltime deel aan de ISKCON (The International Society for Krishna Consciousness) opgericht door H. Julia Gavin
Julia heeft in de afgelopen tien jaar al een verscheidenheid aan yogastijlen beoefend waarna ze samen met Kranti, als een vinyasa flow-docent, fundamenten hebben gelegd door ashtanga yoga. Ze geniet vooral van het tempo en de focus van ashtanga yoga maar houdt ook van de creativiteit en dynamiek van vinyasa flow. Als docente gelooft Julia sterk in een levenslang leren en dat we altijd zouden moeten proberen om onze geest open te stellen door andere dingen te proberen, zo vaak mogelijk.
Robert McWilliams
Kranti Yoga (Yoga)
Rob begon ongeveer 10 jaar geleden met lesgeven, door zijn liefde voor de podiumkunsten. Na jaren zelf optreden op het podium, stapte hij over op het geven van workshops aan groepen of beginnende performers, om hun angsten te overwinnen. Op die manier ontwikkelde hij zich tot leraar in de industrie waar hij zo van houdt. Deze achtergrond, in combinatie met grote interesse in fitness leidde Rob naar yoga en uiteindelijk naar het lesgeven daarvan. Rob voltooide zijn 500-urige yoga docentenopleiding bij Kranti Yoga en geeft sindsdien les op bestemmingen over de hele wereld.
Sally Balforth
Always on the hunt for new escapades, Sally has always had a strong desire to learn and discover. She came to Kranti Yoga in 2015 to learn more about the tradition of yoga and to deepen and develop her own practice, subsequently completing her 200-hour YTTC and 100-hour teacher training plus. Born in London, Sally grew up with a love of culture. Having worked in a range of positions within the creative arts, she enjoys getting her hands dirty and allowing her imagination to roam. Sally weaves this creativity into her Vinyasa Flow classes, always emphasising the power and beauty of meditation.
Christine Lucy Howells
(Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga)
Christine is al sinds jonge leeftijd gefascineerd door reizen, nieuwe culturen ontdekken en nieuwe mensen leren kennen. Als kind bracht ze tijd door in India en ze had altijd de wens om daar terug te keren. Toen ze in 2012 yoga op haar pad vond, zette ze haar reislustigheid door. Ze studeerde, onderwees en beoefende yoga in Nieuw-Zeeland, Indonesië, China, Spanje en Engeland, voordat ze terugkeerde naar India. Daar bracht ze een jaar door, zichzelf onderdompelend in yoga, en voltooide ze haar 500-urige Ashtanga yoga docentenopleiding voor gevorderden, en haar studies in Hatha, Vinyasa en Yin yoga.
Laura Shanks
Laura, afkomstig uit New York, kwam 15 jaar geleden in aanraking met yoga, door middel van dans. Op advies van een dansleraar, begon ze met wat doorsnee Bikram yoga oefeningen, die zich al snel ontwikkelde in haar eigen, persoonlijke stijl. Na verloop van tijd, en door middel van het experimenteren met verschillende yogastijlen, bloeide haar stijl verder dan het fysieke uit in een overkoepelende, spirituele praktijk. Ze voltooide een 200-urige yoga docentenopleiding in klassieke Hatha yoga en meditatie in een ashram aan het meer van Atitlán in Guatemala en een 300-urige en 100-urige Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga docentenopleiding bij Kranti Yoga.

Retreat locatie

The yoga teacher training program takes place in Kranti Yoga, Goa, India. Kranti Yoga is located in the magical Patnem Beach, South Goa. Unlike other parts of Goa, Patnem Beach has retained its peacefulness and natural charm despite growing numbers of tourists to the area. The closest airport is Dabolim (Goa) Airport and the journey to the retreat is just over an hour.

Patnem Beach itself is lined with bars, restaurants, and beach hut accommodations. The hospitality of the Patnem locals awaits you. Choose from the many dining options that offer international cuisine from all corners of the globe, as well as traditional Goan curries, seafood specialties, and the popular vegan delights. It is ideal for those who enjoy harmony between beach life, yoga, and relaxed dinners with friends.

It is definitely a tradition to watch the phenomenal sunsets on the beach during your yoga teacher training. Yogis regularly walk and run on this beach and participate in lighthearted acro-yoga during the downing of the sun. If you are looking for some evening entertainment, you are not far away from the tourist hub of Palolem. Here, you will find more night-time activities, sometimes a welcome alternative to the quietness and early nights of Patnem.

Palolem is only five minutes away from the shala and can be reached by rickshaw. Alternatively, five minutes in the other direction, you will find the fabulous local town of Chaudi. Here, you will find a more traditional Indian experience with local fresh food and seafood markets, chai stands, supermarket, pharmacy, and others.

In the shala, you will be served all meals throughout the day (breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner) seven days a week. Some students often choose to eat out on Sunday as a treat for their day off. There are also snacks, fruits, fresh juices, coconuts, Ayurvedic teas, herbal and chai teas, and purified water available. All meals are served buffet-style in the outdoor dining hall, giving you a range of options for you to choose from.

Kranti Yoga promotes a healthy diet and the foods served are freshly prepared for you daily. Kranti considers proper nutrition to be a very important part of your time during the teacher training and they do their best to combine a Sattvic diet with some western elements for your body to be well fueled. They have an Indian kitchen on site with wonderful cooks, who will delight you with a large array of traditional Indian specialties.

The kitchen is at your service and ready to accommodate all your dietary requirements, whatever they may be. The meals are strictly vegetarian and the kitchen is easily able to cater for vegan, lactose intolerant, gluten free, and other diets. If there is something you need or crave, they will always try to help. If you miss a meal, the cooks will always rustle something up for you. There is never a need to be hungry.

All food is sourced locally and the menu will consist of seasonal fruit and vegetables. Local produce is organically grown and bought on a daily basis. The groceries are bought from nearby markets and stores in order to support the local community.

Outside of the shala, you will find a range of restaurants and cafes serving a host of tasty and healthy choices. You can choose from traditional Indian dishes or pick from a rich international menu that is widely available in most restaurants. The food in Patnem and neighboring Palolem is some of the finest cuisine on offer in Goa. Patnem is renowned for a high standard of hygiene.

Wat er te doen is

During breaks, you can explore the area and walk on the beach, enjoy drum circle (Thursdays outside Nada Brahma), relax in hammocks, swinging beds, and sunlounges, and go swimming. On Saturday evening and Sundays, students often choose to go exploring to make the most of their time off classes. There are some optional local excursions which can be arranged at additional costs.

You can visit Old Goa, waterfalls, spice farms, Butterfly Island, local Hindu temples, Agonda night market, Galgibag (Turtle Beach), and silent disco (Saturdays). You may also take part in stand up paddle boarding (SUP), traditional Indian cooking classes, have Ayurvedic treatments and massage, visit Leopard Valley night market (November to February), and Anjuna night market in North Goa (between November and March).

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Goa International Airport (GOI), also known as Dabolim Airport. Kranti Yoga can arrange taxis from the airport upon request. The taxi pickups use experienced local drivers. They are patient in case of delays and know exactly where to drop you off. It's particularly helpful for overnight arrivals. Alternatively, there are set price taxis available at the counter on arrival in Goa Airport.

Arrival by bus

There are plenty of options for arrival by bus in case you want to save money or want to experience local Goan transport. You can catch a bus from KTC bus station in Margao directly to Patnem Beach. It is also possible to reach Goa by Volvo or deluxe or semi-deluxe buses from Mumbai, Pune, and Bangalore.

Arrival by train

If you would like to arrive by train, you can reach Goa by train from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kochin, Mysore, and Pune. The closest stop is Canacona station, which is located in Chaudi.
