There are limited beds at the ashram, so book early to secure your spot (and the best rate). The rooms are private singles and doubles as well as four-bed dorms. There are hammocks and communal areas available to all. Please note that it's located in a tropical traditional Mayan village in the third world, which also means that noise and other occasional inconveniences cannot be completely avoided. However, there are not many mosquitos at all and there are no dangerous diseases, insects, or other animals around.

Instead of the rushed and superficial approach that is common among three-week yoga teacher trainings, Kaivalya Yoga School takes the time to skillfully lead you to become a confident, courageous, and inspiring instructor of the science of consciousness that yoga is.

This course features over 200 contact hours, ensuring that you will be adequately prepared to guide future students confidently and successfully. This particular course includes a Bhakti module covering ancient and modern practices of devotional yoga as the effortless method of opening the heart center for genuine transformation. Four uplifting days of kirtan, mantra shastra, puja, and the mythology of yoga.

Class schedule

The course consists of five blocks with 1.5 days off in between. Class times are 07:00 to 13:30 and 15.30 to 18:30 including the four-day Bhakti module in the middle of the course. There are also three-hour Cacao Kirtan Satsang every weekend that will be part of the course.

Mahadevi Ashram is a lush jungle garden overlooking incredible crater lake Atitlan. It is located in the traditional Mayan village of Tzununa, just outside of San Marcos La Laguna, the 'yoga capital of Central America'. The ashram is quality-built of natural materials and features two yoga halls, several bamboo cabins with dorms, private rooms and yurts, the main lounge and kitchen building, a stone-built, wood-fired steam room right next to a lovely and clear mountain creek with dipping pools, and permaculture gardens to contribute to our scrumptious meals.

The ashram kitchen provides delicious vegetarian meals on all course days. Tropical fruits, local ingredients, and wholesome recipes supportive for spiritual practice.

Kaivalya Yoga School encourages focusing on the training while it goes on, there are however one and a half days per week available to go explore the area. Kaivalya Yoga School recommends you to do more exploration before or after the training as there are tons of amazing experiences to be had here: Mayan pyramids, traditional villages and markets, kayaking, scuba diving, standup-paddleboarding, ziplining, paragliding, beautiful colonial towns, a hot water fall, caves, and the unique geological phenomenon of Semuc Champey.
