    Situated in beautiful Dartmoor national park, East Down is a spiritual and well-being retreat center. East Down's deliciously comfy accommodation in the beautiful historic thatch offers new high-quality facilities blended into the old charm of this wonderful building. Each room is named and decorated with the color of one of the elements, earth, air, fire, and water.

    The earth bedroom has two very comfortable divan beds with luxury mattresses. The air and the fire bedroom has three very comfortable divan beds with luxury mattresses and one platform bed reached by climbing a fixed ladder for each. The water bedroom has two very comfortable divan beds with luxury mattresses.

    The ground floor bedroom has one single very comfortable divan bed with luxury mattress and an additional roll-away bed. There is one double bedroom with double sofa bed. Subject to availability, you have the option to pay a single room supplement. There is a communal dining room and quiet meditation room. All along with the yoga studio, located in a fabulous space in the converted barn enjoy the same breathtaking views.

    You are invited to dip your toe into the retreat, enjoying as much as feels right for you, or you may choose to simply dive in. You are free to enjoy the peace and tranquility of this beautiful haven through walks over the stunning countryside on your own or through a guided wandering or you might choose to meet yourself on a hill and be still.

    • 08:00 Breath and guided meditation
    • 09:00 Breakfast
    • 10:30 Introduction to TRE trauma and stress release, neurogenic yoga and shake, and yoga Nidra
    • 13:00 Lunch and free afternoon or a guided wander
    • 15:30 Join for tea, cake, and a conversation on tools to comfort and calm yourself
    • 17:15 Yoga and shake
    • 19:00 Supper
    • 20:30 Candle lit Restorative yoga

    Day three

    • 08:00 Breathing, Kriyas, pranayama, and guided meditation
    • 09:15 Breakfast
    • 10:45 Yoga and shake followed by yoga Nidra

      Jo's journey began in 2006 with her own search to restore and recover. She had been supporting her son Matt’s journey through the special education system, who had autistic spectrum difficulties. Jo got lost between bureaucracy and overwhelm and needed to find herself again to feel better. Her search began. In researching therapies that would support both her son’s and her healing journey, she gathered a tool kit of practices that offer powerful release from emotional stress, physical stress, and trauma, safely and effectively. She has found all these tools personally healing.

    The beautiful breathing space of East Down's historic thatched retreat is atop the rolling Devon hills on the edge of Dartmoor. Take in the breathtaking views in every direction. Spot the diverse wildlife including the wild deer free to roam their home landscape. This is a place of deep tranquility and soothing energy.

    You will enjoy freshly, lovingly produced food prepared from home-grown ingredients. All the food will be vegetarian organic or produced in an ecologically considered way and seasonal. The inspiration comes from traditional foods from around the world including Latin American food, Middle Eastern mezze style salads, Indian, and Asian.

    Afternoon tea will be served with home-made cake or selection of home made biscuits. These may include chocolate and beetroot cake, carrot cake, honey biscuits, or lavender biscuits.

    • Exit the A30 at the Cheriton Bishop, turning and drive towards Cheriton Bishop village.
    • On entering the village, take the first turning on the left before the Old Thatch inn, signposted Dunsford.
    • Continue to one point two miles, then take the right turn signposted East Down.
    • Continue to the end of the tarmac lane, then turn left at the East Down sign across the cattle grid, and follow the lane down to the center.
