While going through local Nepali forests and villages, you will be inspired to mindfully connect your emotions with the energy of these great mountains and deepen your yoga practice each day. Your trek starts from Pokhara and takes you through the breathtaking Annapurna Himalaya regions for spectacular and life-long memorable views of the Himalayas, lakes, rivers, and wildlife. By joining this trekking experience, you will help its Australian owners support the Nepali community.
You will spend one night in Australian Camp in the Annapurna ranges. There are two types of accommodation on this trek.
The first option is a fully equipped tent that is set up for your arrival with bedding, towels, and other comforts for sleeping. The tent location has 360 degree views of the Annapurna ranges and Pokhara Valley area, and sleeping beneath the stars in the Himayalas is simply breathtaking.
The second option on the trek is a local Nepali teahouse-style accommodation. These teahouses are an iconic institution of Nepal trekking, full of character and thriving local culture. The rooms are shared twins with a shared bathroom area with five-star views of the Annapurna range from your windows and door.
If the weather is slightly chilly in the evening, the fire will be lit - after the wood has been gathered by the hard-working local village ladies.
There are little local shops along the way in each village if you want to purchase anything like toiletries, a local yak wool shawl or handcrafted jewelry.
This yoga and wellness trek will bring you and nature together to connect deep within yourself in the magnificent mountain ranges of the Himalayas of Nepal. The mindfully designed treks integrate you deep into nature with Western yoga teachers and experienced Nepali guides, and take you through a journey with a one-night stop at a local teahouse where you can enjoy traditional vegetarian Nepali food.
On arrival, you will be given a detailed daily program that will suit the level of the group. The Integrative Wellness Yoga team will greet you in either Kathmandu or Pokhara to help you with your orientation and your journey into the alluring mountains. On your first and last day here, you will be transferred by jeep or local transport to get to the starting and finishing points of this adventure.
You will need to walk approximately three to five hours per day on the trek, but the journey alternates between a light and a hard day’s trekking terrain. You will stop for breaks to rest, have a snack, and take in the local village life and culture.
At sunset, you will take time to breathe and meditate, taking in the amazing mountain air and energy. This will be followed by an evening meal and a 45-minute wellness workshop session to give you the tools for your inner journey and for removing barriers in your life. Then you have free time to relax and chat to other travelers, go to bed if you are tired, or simply read a book. If you would like to, you can also mingle with the local, friendly village people.
You will have one massage treatment at the end of your trek, but massage therapy does more than relax the mind and body. Some of the benefits include improved circulation, reduced muscle tension and stress hormones levels. It also has a significant impact on body alignment for overall health.
The daily wellness sessions will focus on nutrition, self-positivity, and a better understanding of yoga as a body science.
Do you want to improve your lifestyle or eating habits, but are not sure where to start? Maybe you need some support to get you to your goals and work through the barriers that are holding you back? The workshops can help you take a non-diet approach to get your health on track and set your goals, healthy eating plans, and work through emotional barriers.
Food truly is your medicine, so it is important to build a healthy relationship with food while understanding the benefits to counting the quality of your food, not calories.
The science of yoga is an ancient practice and Integrative Wellness Yoga takes a traditional approach to the classes and workshops. The yoga is suitable for all ages and levels, and it does more than just focusing on the poses; it also aligns your body and mind with breath and mediation to take your yoga experience to a deep level.
The style of yoga practiced each day will vary on the group and its needs, but generally, it will range from a deep Asthanga stretch to a gentle Hatha joint movement session of one to one and a half hours.
The unique yoga workshops incorporate a tailored yoga program, as well as guidance on mindfulness, emotional wellbeing, and nutrition.
This retreat will take place in Nepal, departing from the city of Pokhara and into the Annapurna ranges in the Himalayas.
All food is provided on the trek for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; vegan options are available. All food is made from the local seasonal produce that is available in that village climate and region. Please advise Integrative Wellness Yoga in advance if you have any specific dietary requirements.
Teahouse food is usually served with milk tea after each meal (it’s a Nepali thing). However, there are usually other herbal teas and coffee available. Although the menu is usually not too varied because of the availability of produce in some regions, it is delicious and tasty.
The typical meal of choice for the Nepali culture is Daal Baht (rice, green vegetables, potato, and chicken) and the flavours vary from teahouse to teahouse, depending on the cook. Most of the food is prepared in hand-made wood ovens and stoves, and some teahouses may even let you in the kitchen to look at the local way of life and preparing food. The menu is usually all you can eat - perfect after a day’s long trek with yoga.
You will also have two vegan snacks per day to take with you on the trek, given that you will leave after breakfast and return before dinner the next day. The snacks are usually granola-style bars and fresh local seasonal fruit.
It is recommendable to either drink bottled water or bring water treatment tablets along for safe drinking water. Please bring your own bottle for refiling and thus lower the impact of plastic on the local environment.
At the end of the trek, a one-hour trekkers' massage treatment is included in the package to relieve your tired body and calm the mind. The massage is offered by Nectar Spa, a partner business of Integrative Wellness Yoga.
There are other services available at Nectar Spa that you can book at an additional cost.
Please book your flight to arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Integrative Wellness Yoga team will greet you in either Kathmandu or Pokhara to help you with your orientation.
From Kathmandu, you can take a 30-minute flight to Pokhara that goes directly across the Himalayas for 75 to 100 USD. Alternatively, you can take one of the much more expensive scenic tour flights available.
From Kathmandu, you can take a tourist bus for 6 to 10 USD. This scenic route takes you through some amazing mountain ranges and along rivers, and the trip to Pokhara takes around six hours because of the terrain.
