Mixing mindfulness within yoga practice and through meditation space and personal exploration is a profound and enjoyable way to let go of the stresses of day-to-day life.

The owners have been careful to retain many original features at Les Passeroses, with oak floors, exposed beams, stone fireplaces and window sinks in some rooms. All of the boutique style bedrooms in the main house are now en-suite, simply yet stylishly furnished with touches of luxury provided by high thread-count bedding and super-soft towels.

There is an enticing Moroccan influenced guest salon, with Hi-Fi, DVD player, library and gift stand - the perfect place to enjoy after-dinner mint tea and conversation. The spacious guest kitchen and dining room allow you to help yourself to fruit, snacks and hot and cold drinks throughout the day.

Wi-Fi is only available in the guest kitchen. TV is also not available at the site. They encourage you to switch off as much as possible during the retreat.

The yoga space

A former barn has been transformed into an inspiring yoga space. With its dramatic tented ceiling and solid oak floor, it is the perfect place to discover or deepen your practice. Large doors open onto far reaching views over the pool, into the countryside or down to the lake, letting you feel at one with nature. The large space is generously equipped with mats, blocks, bolsters, bricks, straps, chairs and blankets and wall ropes.

Relax in a beautiful environment

Les Passeroses has great rooms and a dedicated yoga space, all amongst a beautiful environment based on space, nature, and nurture. There is a large oval pool, surrounded by wooden decking and a tiled terrace where you can enjoy the heat of the sun, or relax in the shade of the gazebo and enjoy the panoramic country view.

Steps to the side invite you to explore the large garden, an ongoing project and personal passion for the owners. You can also enjoy the more intimate garden rooms, lake, potager, and open spaces.

Food, yoga, and beyond

Outside dining takes place on the opposite side of the house from the pool, under cover of a charming roofed and decked terrace, taking advantage of the warmth of the sun at lunchtime and cooler shade at dinner. Your yoga practice in an oak floored barn may be warmed by a light breeze to a soundtrack of chirruping cicadas.

The yoga course during the retreat is suitable for all levels and modifications always available. You can choose not to participate in evening meditation, nutritional talks, and silent walks. There will be plenty of time to swim in the invitingly clear pool, warm yourself on its sunny terraces, maybe a walk in the countryside or even a relaxing massage before your next delicious meal.

There will be a day off during the midweek to give an opportunity to you to explore the surrounding. After lunch on the day off, you will visit the beautiful and relaxing village of Aubeterre, with the world’s largest underground church. You will have your dinner at one of the hotels at the village. You will be picked up together with the group after dinner. Transfers during the excursion are 15 EUR.

    Vajrasati School Yoga Alliance RYT 500 (Yoga)

    Charlotte is a 500-hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher from the Vajrasati School in Brighton; practicing since 1996 and teaching since 2006. She further trained with Fiona Agombar and Heather Mason, continuing her interest in yoga as therapy for anxiety, depression, and stress states. She deepened her mindfulness practice through a specific mindfulness course for yoga teachers with Cathy-Mae Karelse. She continues to study with teachers Tias Little, Judith Lasater, and Donna Farhi as they combine her love of mindful, somatic practice, yoga as meditation, and a compassionate attitude.

Les Passeroses lies south of the town of Angouleme which is the main administrative center of the Charente department in the region of Poitou-Charentes, South West France. It is easy to reach from all over the UK and Europe by air or rail.

All food is included in the price. New menu based on the cuisine of different countries every year, using seasonal produce grown in Les Passeroses kitchen and herb gardens and orchard, along with market-bought organic goods when and if available. Beautiful vegetarian food with fish option several times in the week. Alex and Adrian, the owner of the house you're going to stay will be cooking for you during the retreat.

On your leisure time, you can explore the local surroundings or just sit back and relax.

On-site therapies available in a private and secluded chalet, for hot stone massage, aromatherapy, sports massage, reflexology and more. Prices range from 30 to 60 EUR and not included on the yoga retreat package.

Arrival by airplane

Fly from Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport (BOD) (about 165 GBP return tickets) and then take a train to Angouleme (approximately one hour traveling time, about 23 GBP return tickets) where you will be picked by the venue. Charlotte can advise you of the times to coincide with others and pick up the transfers most easily.

Arrival by train

You can also travel by Eurostar and TGV (fast train) from London Saint Pancras via Paris to Angouleme (about 180 GBP). As above, Charlotte can advise you of times to book.
