Aragon Active renovated 17th century farmhouse is in the peaceful hamlet of Albella, in the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees which will be the base for the retreat. Once here, you will see the love and care that has gone into making this an exceptional place to stay. Aragon Active has single, twin and double rooms depending on whether you are coming with a friend or a partner. Partners are welcome in the retreat. There are plenty of things to do and see right on its doorstep, or you can join the excursions, or simply relax at the guest house.

Aragon Active Spain Yoga Retreat Itinerary

The itinerary below gives an idea of what you will be doing during a typical week on one of Aragon Actives yoga meditation and wellness retreat. The decision of exactly where to go on a particular day will be decided at the time, and it will depend a great deal on the weather. Any changes to the itinerary will always be done to maximize the best use of time and to ensure you have a full and relaxed stay.

Day 1 - Saturday

Arrival at Casa Allu, Albella. A welcome drink and an opportunity to meet Simon and Lucy, your hosts, will be provided. There will be a chance to unwind before you have your evening meal.

Day 2 - Sunday

  • 08:00 Meeting with Julia and begin your week with a basic introduction to meditation, easy yoga movements and stretching
  • 09:00 Breakfast
  • 10:30 Presentation: How meditation can be an important tool in modern daily lives
  • 11:30 Meditation outside in the beautiful and inspiring landscape of the Valley of Ara
  • 13:30 Lunch
  • 15:00 Presentation and mini workshop: The Importance of food and diet to our well-being by Amanda Spring. Refreshments provided during the workshop
  • 19:30 Refreshments and time to relax before supper
  • 19:30 Light supper

Day 3 - Monday

08:00 Meditation with easy yoga movements and stretching

09:00 Breakfast

10:00 Leave for a walk in the valley of Anisclo where you will visit the hermitage of San Urbez. Here you will learn some respiratory exercises and visualization techniques. Picnic lunch.

17:45 Yoga class with Tej

19:30 Evening meal

20:30 Tej leads you in a chant to quiet and calm the mind before bed

Day 4 - Tuesday

08:00 Meditation with easy yoga movements and stretching

09:00 Breakfast

10:00 You will depart for the mountains and Basa de la Mora, or lake of the Moorish Woman. Here you will put into practice some of the techniques you learnt the day before. You will walk through shaded woods and meadows before arriving at the lake; one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the central Pyrenees. However, it hides a dark secret! Picnic lunch.

17:30 Return to Albella for refreshments and time to relax before dinner.

Day 5 - Wednesday

07:30 Yoga class with Tej

09:00 Breakfast

10:00 Chakra Meditation. The 7 Chakras are the energy centers in a humans body in which energy flows through. Blocked energy in your 7 Chakras can often lead to illness so it's important to understand what each Chakra represents and what you can do to keep this energy flowing freely.

11:30 Completing the story of San Urbez with a short walk to the small chapel in Albella. You will look inside and learn a little of the history of the chapel and the fabled miracles San Urbez.

13:30 Lunch

14:30 Leave for an afternoon of relaxation and pampering at the Spa, Monastario de Boltaa

20:00 Light supper

Day 6 - Thursday

08:00 Meditation with easy yoga movements and stretching

09:00 Breakfast

10:00 A brief walk before a workshop on raw food preparation. Living foods contain essential food enzymes that are destroyed if the food is heated to above 47C. Todays topic is about the benefits of raw food preparation and how to prepare raw food.

13:30 Lunch

15:00 In this session your visualization techniques will be expanded by adding sound meditation. Sound has been used as a healing or calming tool for thousands of years. When sound is used during meditation, you are able to go beyond the chattering mind.

17:45 Yoga class with Tej

19:30 Light supper

20:30 Tej leads us in a chant to quiet and calm the mind before bed

Day 7 - Friday

08:00 Meditation with easy yoga movements and stretching

09:00 Breakfast

10:00 Depart to visit the west side of the Ordesa National Park. You will start by driving through the dramatic gorge in the Valle de Bujaruelo before arriving at the Roman bridge of San Nicols de Bujaruelo. From here you can do an out and back walk into the Valle de Otal. You will arrive at a height of 1 kilometer and 640 meters. Here, there is a diversity of flowers, marshy meadows, mountain streams, marmots and variety of birds. Picnic lunch provided.

17:30 Return home for refreshments and time to review what you have learnt with Julia over the week

19:30 Evening meal

Day 8 - Saturday

08:30 Breakfast

10.00 A flexible timetable depending on departure times. A light lunch or a picnic is available. For those departing from Zaragoza airport, you have the option to visit the impressive Castillo de Loarre on route.

Castillo de Loarre


This retreat will take place in in the district of Sobrabre, province of Huesca, Aragon, Spain. You will be surrounded by the beautiful Spain Pyrenees. Indeed, the Aragonese Pyrenees are considered the jewels of the Spanish Pyrenees. The province of Huesca, Aragon, has the three highest peaks. Pico de Aneto at 3,404 meters is not only the highest mountain in the Pyrenees but also the third highest mountain in Spain. Pico Posets is the second highest in the Pyrenees, 3,371 meters, and Monte Perdido (meaning lost mountain) is the third highest, 3,355 meters. This is a land rich in history, architecture, and culture. There are pre-historic cave paintings, Paleolithic stone circles and Dolmens mix with formidable forts, medieval monasteries, majestic castles, ancient ruins, and Romanesque churches.

All meals and refreshments are included. Picnic lunches will be followed by main meal in the evening. Aragon Active will be serving vegetarian food on this retreat. As for drinks, this is an alcohol free week. The water here is drinkable and comes from the mountain spring. Aragon Active has a font in the entrance hall where you can fill up whenever you want. They also have a range of herbal infusions, all of which are included.

Driving directions through France

You need to allow about 15 hours driving from the northern ports. Breaking the journey with a stop-over in Limoges or Lyon area is recommended.

Arrival by airplane

Flying to Zaragoza

Zaragoza is the nearest airport (2 hours). From the UK, it is the simplest way to arrive.

Ryan Air offer flights all year round from London Stansted. Flights start from under 100 GBP (including taxes) and are generally cheaper the earlier you book.

Flying to Barcelona

Barcelona is a hub for international flights from outside Europe so if you are arriving from the US, Canada, Australia or another international destination, El Prat Airport is the best airport to fly to. There are also flights from many UK airports to Barcelona. As well as scheduled flights all the low cost airlines fly to Barcelona, Ryan Air, Easy Jet, Vueling, Monarch as well as Jet2.

Arrival by ferry

Brittany Ferries have three routes from the UK direct to Spain: Portsmouth-Bilbao, Portsmouth-Santander and Plymouth-Santander. The ferries are a great way to travel and have private cabins, restaurants, bars and viewing decks. All of the routes allow you to take your own car and crossings take around 24 hours.
