You are in one of the most easterly and amazingly beautiful parts of France, in the Alps right up by the Italian border. The Tarentaise valley is renowned for its snow-sure winter resorts. The chalets are within easy reach of the big names - Val dIsre, Tignes, Les Arcs, La Plagne and La Rosire with its link to the Italian La Thuile - as well as Sainte Foy Tarentaise itself.
Adventure Yogi needs to keep a bit hush about this area, as Sainte Foy is the best kept secret in the French Alps. For all levels, it is ideal for beginners and its also where local ski instructors choose to ski on their days off as its more peaceful than surrounding resorts. It offers a mixture of terrain for all ability levels and disciplines. Its loved by off-piste skiers and boarders for its exciting powder fields, as much as its loved by beginners who appreciate its wide, quiet pistes to learn on.
The food is as important to as the yoga. The Adventure Yogis chef will create delicious brunches in the morning after yoga and exquisite gourmet dinners in the evenings. The food will be fresh, nutritious, vegetarian, and hearty. Brunch is a choice of granola, fabulous local breads and croissants, eggs, juices and fruit, and dinner is a three course veggie feast with local wines. Dinner is served over 6 nights as the chefs have a night off and you can go out and enjoy the local cuisine.
Non-skiers will find plenty to enjoy too. There are well-marked trails for snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing or simply hiking which offer breath-taking views of the surrounding mountains. One of the best trails takes you to the picturesque, tranquil farming hamlet of Le Monal where you can picnic gazing at the glaciers of Mont Pourri across the valley. You could also choose to try your hand at dog-sledding with your own sled pulled by a team of huskies.
The less active can wipe away the day soaking up the sun with a glass of wine or a beer on one of the mountain restaurant terraces, or be pampered at one of the two spas at Sainte Foy.
There are experienced massage therapists on hand to soothe any aches and pains and help you to relax. Treatments are at an extra cost.
