Students who complete their training before 31 December 2021 are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

How the training works

You will have around 112 online contact hours during the training. The remaining hours will be spent on homework, exams, and self-study along with some extra classes. The live sessions will be delivered via Google Meet. The course will provide a full manual in pdf which covers all the modules of the syllabus of asana, pranayama, anatomy, sutras, and meditation.

Course information

The course presents a strong emphasis on the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary series. Trainees expected to maintain a daily yoga practice during the training. The course includes the following areas of study:

  • Asana series
  • Pranayama (yogic breathing practice)
  • Anatomy and physiology for yoga
  • Philosophy of Patanjali Yoga Sutras
  • Teaching methodology
  • Active and passive meditations

Trainees will be able to practice and teach asana sequence, how to give hands-on adjustment, how to do yogic breathing techniques called Pranayama, learn the philosophy of Pathanjali Yoga Sutras such as Samadhi Pada and Sadhana Pada, learn active and passive meditation techniques, and learn applied anatomy for yoga and understand the articulation of body parts based on asanas.

First to the fourth week

Led class to focus on basic stretches, Surya Namaskar A (sun salutations), standing poses, sitting poses, supine poses, prone poses, and finishing sequence. A total of 45 individual asanas will be covered. The second week focuses on self-practice alignments and adjustments from faculties and trainees along with yogic breathing practice (pranayama).

Techniques covered Kapalabhati, Bastrika, Ujjai, Nadishodana, Surya bhedana, Chendrabedana, Anuloma-Viloma, Shithali, Shitkari, and Bramari. Advance variations practice, bandas, and mudra will be added. There will be 13 techniques of meditation to let go of the accumulated stress in your body-mind. Before you can hope to access your inner powerhouse of consciousness, you need to let go of your tensions.

Fourth to the eighth week

Enjoy a led class focused on advance stretches, Surya Namaskar B, advance poses of standing, sitting, supine, prone, and finishing sequences. A total of 40 advance individual poses will be covered. Along with anatomy and physiology for yoga. You will learn the basics of muscular-skeletal anatomy and you will also be looking closely at joint mechanics, where movement comes from, the nature of body tissues, and how they are affected through yoga.

Sessions will include multimedia presentations, hands-on anatomy, case studies of injuries, and why difficulties with certain movements can occur and with Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, you will be able to succinctly outlines the art and science of yoga meditation for self-realization. It is a process of systematically encountering, examining, and transcending each of the various gross and subtle levels of false identity in the mind field until the jewel of the true self comes shining through. Chapters one and two will be covered during this course.

Eighth week

Trainees lead the led class and will be able to give hands-on adjustments and alignment of asana and techniques of pranayama. The practical exam will be evaluated by faculties of Nirvana Yoga Shala.

Evaluation procedure

  • Trainees will be assessed on asana performance, teaching led class from the first four weeks of the course.
  • The trainee should be able to teach pranayama class including the names of each technique and contraindications of each technique on the eighth week of the course.
  • Trainee should be able to teach asana class including the names of each asana on the eighth week of the course.
  • If a trainee gets injured during the training course and is not able to continue the course, certification will not be given and the school will not offer partial or full refunds.
