Niru Yoga Homestay is a holistic retreat offering the perfect combination of yoga, hiking, and sound healing in a welcoming family environment.
Rajan Bastola has over 25 years of experience as a yoga practioner. His teaching experience ranges from teaching in ashrams, specialty yoga schools, government schools, and NGOs. He is an internationally certified yoga teacher and has been teaching yoga philosophy, asana, and pranayama classes. Rajan believes highly in the healing power of sound and vibration; as such, he uses sound bathing meditation and chakra healing as a foundational part of his practice. He has great knowledge of Ayurvedic therapy and carefully helps to teach guests about the medicinal benefits of herbs.
Niru was born in a rural village of Nepal where she grew up learning traditional farming skills. Later in life she became a social worker. She is now married and a mother of two. Niru is a great woman, who is well known among the guests for her infectious smile and hospitality. She loves to prepare food for guests and take care of them in every possible way.

"A beautiful and transformative experience"
I liked mostly everything.
Niru and Nikita welcome, their kindness and tender made me feel at home immediately.
My room was clean and cozy enough, for common standards in Nepal local stays, this is really important and well achieved. Bathroom was perfect, clean, good shower.
All the place makes you feel good, always good vibes, smiling faces, Niru singing beautifully inviting you to "tea time"...is such an experience, unforgettable for me.
All the house very well kept and with love and expertise from Rajan that is always around to take care of all his "babies"...fruit trees, vegetables growing in the garden, flowers all over, so always plenty of birds and their lovely singing, bees and butterflies.
Several greenies we ate where from their garden. Niru cooking was delicious for me.
Rajan yoga class, is the most meaningful experience you can have in this subject.
Not only because his knowledge is super high level, but in human terms, you feel he is careing of you, shareing his wisdom but also with notes of humor and good support. Deep Hatha yoga twice a day is an immersion, you really feel the good effects!!!
His sessions of sound healing were sublime...all his beautiful Tibetan Bowls, sounds traveling through your body, unforgettable.
Trekking was also good, but, maybe May wasn´t best season for it because long time with no rain so all very dusty and also, lots of garbage everywhere. That in Nepal in general, is such a pity.
Was a perfect Yoga retreat to be repeated!!

"Warme familie yoga retreat"

"Excellent yoga instruction at a friendly homestay"
Rajan is an amazing yoga instructor! We had two sessions of 1.5-2 hours each day following the Hatha style, which included breathing practice (pranayama), warm up movements, postures (asanas) and a meditation, using singing bowls and other instruments to create a relaxing sound bath. Rajan was very responsive to the needs of the students in the class and easily adapted the level of difficulty to suit different abilities, so that everyone could progress at their own pace.
The food was plentiful and delicious: three vegetarian meals a day cooked by Rajan's very cheerful wife Niru. We had pancakes, egg rotis or semolina porridge for breakfast with a small curry and lots of fresh fruit. Lunch and supper were traditional Nepalese thalis with rice, dhal soup, yoghurt, pickled and curried vegetables - much of it homegrown.
The family farm a small plot of land around the house, like most of their neighbours, which gives the village a rural feel even though it's only 6kms from the city of Bhaktapur. This is a UNESCO world heritage site which has amazing temples and palaces dating from C13th and great souvenir shopping, only 20 minutes away by bus or taxi.
There are optional hikes in the mornings, including trails through pine woods and bamboo forest, past Buddhist temples and across a spectacular suspension bridge. We even swam in a waterfall! On Sundays there's a sauna and campfire.
Rajan and Niru go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and I had a wonderful stay.

"Entspannung & Familie"

"Excellent way to complete our Nepali visit!"
Rajan and his family were all so welcoming making sure you felt part of the family.
The food was always freshly prepared plentiful and served with a smile.
The yoga experience (even for beginners like us) was amazing Rajan carefully explained everything and the benefits linked with each movement.
We also tried sound healing and nasal cleansing which were both new to us but positive experiences.
Trekking was fab especially as we got to swim in the high waterfall both refreshing and freezing 😃
Perfect way to round off our 2 month trip (volunteering and trekking) would definitely recommend 🤩

From the moment I entered the gates of the yoga centre I felt welcomed. The classes covered everything and more than I had done previously. Rajan is a friendly, learned and humble teacher who treated us like family. I met lots of wonderful people at the yoga centre and the hikes were out of this world. I highly recommend this place to friends and family and will definitely come back.

Rajan's family welcomes you in like you are family. Almost all the guests, who could, stayed longer than they originally planned because they loved being there so much. Rajan truly takes care of you. The food is amazing. Yoga and hiking is adapted to your level of ability and comfort. The air is so fresh and clear outside the city.

Rajan and Niru are simply fantastic! Yoga classes are excellent and professional, hiking was fantastic every day, the foor Niru makes is simply one of the best we have ever eaten, the facilities are great. "The most spectacular experience "
I couldn’t have asked for a more hospitable family home stay. Niru cooked 3 gorgeous Ayurvedic meals everyday. I’ve never felt so well nourish. Not to mention almost everything is homegrown! Rajan is an absolute yoga master who has written a book. It was my first time trying Hatha yoga (now my new favourite). The sound healing was so therapeutic. The trekking was so special. I went in July and the sun was shining. Although it’s technically ‘rainy season’ the rain only occurs at night or maximum one hour a day. It makes the scenery so much more beautiful as all the rice paddies are bright green! already planning my trip back ❤️🧘♀️

"Incredible stay"
I loved how I felt supported to try new yoga poses and practice more breathing exercises. Rajan, Niru and their family are very caring and accommodating. Niru’s food was so tasty and generous. The activities we did were tailored to the weather and Rajan was happy to help organise any activities we wanted to do in Nepal. The facilities were great, the schedule well-planned and the location was a welcome getaway from the busyness of Kathmandu city. I would love to return!

"The most wonderful yoga homestay"
From the moment you arrive you’re made to feel welcome and part of the family. Rajan is a wonderful teacher, who has so much knowledge about yoga, mediation and Nepal history and tradition.
I learnt so much about wellness in general whilst I was here.
There is also downtime each day where you have time alone to read etc.
The hikes were great and Rajan taught us a lot about the region and the people whilst on these walks.
The food is also exceptional and lots of variety.
Would really recommend this yoga homestay.

"Just come, you’re already home"
Everything was way better than expected. There is nothing to complain about. Maybe just that I didn’t book an even longer stay! I already miss Nirus fabulous food and cheerful smiles, Rajan’s excellent hatha yoga classes with very thorough explanations and instructions (and some challenging moments), the amazing and soothing Sound healing, Dinesh’s intriguing stories about culture, Hinduism and the village, the amazing landscape scenery, the friendly people we met everywhere (and even got invited to a wedding) and temples, temples, temples. If you want to feel welcome, relax, enjoy the best yoga and learn about Nepali’s culture you should definitely go here. But remember; it’s not a hotel / you are home :)

"Highly recommend!"
Niru, Rajan, Dinesh and their family are so welcoming to everyone that stays at their home and are the sort of people that leave a lasting impression long after your visit. Niru cooked the best food I had in Nepal and always had a big smile on her face as she piled up extra servings of food onto your plate. Rajan's yoga catered to all levels and he was great at helping me improve. Like Niru he is always smiling and happy to answer lots of questions about Nepal. Thank you for everything during my stay, hopefully I will be back to visit some day.

"Peace, joy and kindness that will melt your heart"
I enjoyed my stay at Niru Yoga Homestay very much. Coming from Káthmándú, I found the much needed peace, tranquility and had a good chance to relax. The family welcomed me with wide smiles and opened arms and it truly felt like finding a new home. I came originally for 1 night but I prolonged my stay as much as I could. I enjoyed everything about my stay - yoga classes with an amazing teacher Rajan giving me just the right amount of challenge, delicious homemade fresh organic food made by Niru and the grandmother, hiking with Dinesh and learning about local flora and fauna, playing board games with the kids or just chatting and sharing knowledge over a cup of herbal tea. If you ever come to Nepal, you just have to visit this place. It has soooo much to offer ! Thank you all for everything and all the good memories that were created.

"Life-changing Yoga Retreat in Idyllic Setting"
The setting was idyllic in a rural area surrounded by the Himalayan Foothills on an organic farm with a yoga studio and a rooftop yoga facility. The quality of Razan's instruction was outstanding. My flexibility, balance, and overall level of physical fitness improved noticeably during my six-day stay and the level of stress reduction was immeasurable.
Niru is a fantastic cook who prepared three organic vegetarian meals a day, each one being unique.
Dinesh took me on several hikes to scenic viewpoints, temples, and historical sites that enabled me to experience the natural and historic magnitude of the location. I was treated like family during my stay.

"The perfect getaway before returning to my busy life "
After 4 weeks of traveling in Nepal, I decided to end my trip at Niru Homestay. I was welcomed by Rajan & Dinesh and was pleasantly surprised by their hospitality and level of English. Besides the great yoga sessions, the beautiful location and Niru's delicious food, I learned a lot about the Nepalese culture. Every question was answered with pleasure.
I enjoyed every yoga session and really felt like I was a family member for 4 days. I also loved it that the children were present during my stay. The conversations were very informative and enriching for me. Another vision on the Nepali traditions and way of life.
The daily hikes and my visit to Bhaktapur completed the retrait.

"Paradise on Earth!"
Niru Homestay - simply a Paradise on Earth!!!
I have spent the best one week of my life with the Bastola family. The moment you enter their place you become part of the family. They are so loving and caring and literally do everything possible to make you feel at home.
The house is surrounded by huge organic farm and beautiful garden so all meals are 100% organic and vegetarian and absolutely delicious! Niru is the best Chef and she will never let you feel hungry, You will have to learn how to say No, because she is constantly refilling your plate.
Rajan is the most professional and knowledgeable modern yogi I had the pleasure to practice with. The groups are small so he can help everyone achieve perfect results. I am very new in Yoga and on the 3rd day I succeeded to do Headstand. I am so proud of myself and thankful to him for the help, the motivation and the inspiration!
And the every day hikes in the beautiful nature were so fullfilling. You will learn all about the history of Nepal, the incredible legends for the different Kings and Gods, the sad and the fun stories.
If you ever have the chance to visit Nepal, don't ever doubt the place you'll stay in. I vote with two hands for Niru Homestay - the most loving and wonderful family you will ever have the chance to meet.
I love them to bits and can't wait to be back!

"Great all round yoga break"
Warm family welcome. Top quality yoga from excellent teacher with pranayama/breathing, Hatha poses, relaxation with singing bowl and simple meditation. Super walks each morning in the hills and valley learning from our guide about local culture, plants, religion, the effects of the earthquake etc. The best Nepalese food that we ate in 3 weeks - what chutney! The guest house is on a small farm and the food is their own organic produce, locally sourced or foraged. They will have a sauna, massage room and refurbished yoga hall very shortly.

The yoga instructor and family were very friendly and welcoming and you feel like a guest in their home. As a beginner, the yoga instructor was great, patient yet did push me to push myself, but not too far.

"Magical place"
I
I had really high expectations from reading all The positive review but this place still was so much better than I could ever dream of. Rajan, niru, dinesh and the rest of their family was just the most amazing people and they make you feel so welcome and really like a part of the family. The food was delishious and niru is just the sweestet person. The hikes with Dinesh was my favorit part, we got to see a great view of the Himalayas one Day and he was such a good guide and told us about the plats we saw and the temples we visited. It was so interesting. The nature surroundings are really beautiful.
The yoga classes are also really good, we were all on differeng levels but rajan managed to make them fun and enough challanging for all of us. I actually really gained flexibilty during just 6 days. Rajan is super knlwledgable when it comes to yoga science and you learn so much more than just the physical part.
The best part about this place is The atmosphere, I think we all agreed we had never been so relaxed before ever. I just felt so good during the whole stay and that is saying a lot cause Im a person who easily gets anxious in new environments.
I really recommend this to anyone who wants a genuine nepalese experience, weather you are a compleate beginner or an experienced yogi. I cant imagine anyone not loving this place.

Everything was perfect!
The schedule gives you the opportunity to do some lovely yoga in beautiful places, to hike in nature, try Niru's great food and learn so much about the local life. Rajan was great, he gave us so much information on yoga, asanas, pranayama and ayurveda and his brother Dinesh would take us on hikes telling us various stories and showing us various trees and plants along the way. Niru's cooking is a completely different story. I already miss her voice and smile announcing tea time. You will never be hungry with her around. The whole family welcomed us during the festival time, so grateful to have been a part of it.
Highly recommend to try this lovely homestay as it's a perfect mix of hiking, yoga and culture with enough time to soak in the views and relax in a beautiful family environment!

"Heaven on Earth"
It was an awesome experience that gave me a total shift of how I deal with my physical and emotional self. I was not expecting such beautiful location and sceneries, organic and vegan food was wonderful experience to me as a chicken meat lover. The mountain side, the views are all perfect for such retreat. Our Instructor-RAJAN, was an amazing person, I couldn't find words to describe how wonderful he is as a YOGA Teacher, so professional and he asses each and everyone's need. His family is so warm, respective of others, feels like home. His brother, the one who used to do the Nasal cleaning in the morning is also a great person, he toured us by walk to nearby waterfalls and areas where we could see the farms and vineyards.
As a whole, I may say..it is worth it all. I shall return with group of friends.

"Warm and welcoming family"
This was my very first yoga retreat and it has definitely set the bar high!
Because it is a homestay, I didn’t come with any expectations, but the whole experience went beyond my expectations.
Things I really liked:
• The village location - it was so nice to detach from the busy city life where I came from
• Rajan's yoga sessions adapted perfectly according to students’ abilities. I found myself stretching further and doing more advanced versions of poses that I never thought I would be able to do!
• Optional daily hikes led by Dinesh to nearby waterfalls, temples, ricefields, villages and hills. He was very considerate of when we got tired and we got to rest often to catch our breaths. I loved hearing his personal stories and how local life is like in Nepal
• Niru’s cooking! Delicious homemade vegetarian food with a smile - I didn’t miss eating meat!
• Getting to know the family was such a surprise and unexpected bonus! I was really touched by how warm and welcoming they are. From exploring Bhaktapur with Nikhil and Nitesh, Nikita’s talented henna and playing UNO, I come away with many happy memories and really want to come back one day!

"Wow, what a great experience and seeing the true Nepal."
Honestly I have never felt more at home than staying with this family.
It's set in the hills outside of Kathmandu, rice paddies surround the house and you have the most spectacular views.
Rajan and Niru make sure you're well looked after and definitely well fed.
I spent my days cooking with Niru and her mother in law, laughing in the kitchen, then I spent my evenings blissfully practicing yoga with Rajan.
Rajan also delves into Ayruvedic practices at night time around the table and helps you with any health issues and teaches you all he knows.
Honestly 4 days isn't enough, do yourself a favour and stay as long as you can.

"Best experience in Nepal"
Fun, Yoga, trekking, new friends, food, and the most amazing experience in Nepal. From the time I got to Niru yoga guesthouse I felt at home. Niru greeted me with her captivating smile and showed me to my room which was very clean, comfy with great view of the mountains. I met Rajan and the rest of the Niru family at lunch. Lunch, breakfast and dinner were superb, Niru is true to her motherly ways as she was always offering “more food, more food”. Trekking twice a day was a great fun way to see the Nepalese mountains and near by waterfalls. Yoga every morning and afternoon is geared towards the class, I am a beginner and Rajan helped me with different poses, there were other people who were more advanced and found it challenging also, Rajan is a true Yoga master. Best experience in Nepal. As I was very sadly leaving Rajan said you have to come back and visit because we’re all friends. That’s exactly how I feel. Now I have friends in Nepal...

Great location for hiking and see how locals live. The hiking guide knows very well the area and has a deep knowledge of local plants and vegetation. The family really looked after me, helped to book my trip to Pokhara, and everyday cooked delicious meals with homegrown veggies and fruit from their garden!
I truly enjoy the yoga classes, Rajan is an amazing and experienced instructor who teachs with passion and dedication. In 3 days I have learned breathing techniques and proper hata yoga. I would strongly recommend it!

"Authentic experience with very hospitable family"
Real authentic Nepalese homestay, yoga and hiking experience! The entire family is so loving and caring. Walking through the villages and seeing the beauty of Nepalese people, being greeted by warm smiles and Namastes. Nirus's cooking is amazing and her personality is truly precious. Pranayama and Hatha yoga taught by Rojan was great.

"The best experience for your soul."
Rajan, Niru, Dinesh and their families were just the most amazing, warm and welcoming and knowledgeable people.. I actually didn’t stop laughing the whole time; Rajan’s yoga was great - he tailors it to the groups abilities.. Niru’s cooking did not disappoint - you will eat like a queen (or king everyday) and my favourite part was hikes with Dinesh and Rajan,.. I learnt so much about nature and the valleys - I could have spent longer on the hikes some days because they were so enjoyable. :) The family is what makes this place so special, and I couldn’t recommend enough!

"Lovely hosts"
Rajan and Niru were attentive hosts and made me feel welcome as part of the family. The food was good - homecooked and authentic. The hikes were fascinating and beautiful, and when it was warm enough the location for yoga lessons on the temple rooftop was absolutely spectacular! The garden bench was lovely and sunny and a good spot for reading and naps when it was warm enough, and Niru's smile makes your day!

"Most Authentic Nepali Experience"
I cannot tell you which part of the homestay was my favorite. I’m not sure if it was making momos with the entire family, or the sunrise over the Himalayas, or having milk tea at the local shop, or take the local bus to Bhaktapur, or yoga on the mountainside, or yoga on the temple. The entire homestay was amazing. The food was delicious, and the yoga was great. I’m a yoga teacher too and I really enjoyed practicing and learning from Rajan. The hiking was a little intense for me, but I was prepared and the views were totally worth it. I have never felt more like family anywhere. I highly recommend staying here. Next time I go to Nepal, I will be staying at Niru Yoga and Homestay again. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality.

"The perfect Christmas gift to myself!"
This was the perfect yoga homestay experience. A delightful, intelligent and engaging family welcome you into their home and within hours you'll wonder how you ever survived without this place! Rajan is an excellent teacher who teaches traditional Hatha with energy, enthusiasm and grace. His instructions and adjustments are clear and safe (unlike other teachers I came across in Nepal) and mornings spent practicing asanas on the temple rooftop were nothing less than magical.
The creators of the food are culinary geniuses worthy of a michelin star (at least one and I'm not even kidding!) and the prospect of breakfast, lunch or dinner will have you salivating through your savasana. None of us can describe just how incredible the food is here. You just have to go there and see for yourself.
Embrace the homestay, the family and the experience and I dare you not to have to fight a tear or two when you have to leave a few days later.

"A great experience for everyone!"
I don't usually do yoga and I'm not flexible so I can say objectively that this course is accessible to anyone : what matters is that you try your best and breathe!
The family that welcomes you is really nice and helping for everything you need! Niru cooks delicious food each meal and in good portions : you won't be hungry for your time being there 😉
The hikings were very physical to me but the views were so nice and you just really bond with everyone (family and other people in the group).
We had a nice room with bathroom attached and hot water! And don't worry about the nasal cleaning, it's weird at first when you try but in the days following the retreat I actually wished I could do it again 😄
I was really happy with everything and if I ever come back to Nepal, I'll probably come back here!

"Lovely family"
Rajan and his family are really lovely people. They tried their best to accommodate every guests' needs. House is simple and clean. The hiking was great, a bit challenging for a city girl like me as I did not get used to very rough path. But Rajan's brother tried his very best to make everyone enjoy the hike. The yoga might not be what you expected in the city - it's more on the spiritual level rather than stretching only. Rajan's wife Niru is a very cute lady and has a really big heart! Her food is the best.

I don't know where to start actually. The whole family was more than kind and lovely. They always gave me the feeling that their place is also my home and I felt never uncomfortable. I was a total yoga-beginner, Rajan supportet me very well and I loved the yoga sessions! After 4 days I could almost do the handstand by my own. That was such a great experience! I will definitly continue with yoga! Rajan is a very professional yogateacher with a lot of experience in the traditional hatha yoga. You can ask him anything. The whole family cares a lot about the environment and you'll get the best organic food! I have to eat gluten-free food, Niru always cooked extra for me and I loved her buckwheat pancakes- thank you Niru! :)
In general, the homestay was totally authentic. Sometimes the kids had fights or just laughed loud- I really enjoyed to sit in the sun and watch them.
Thank you for everything!! :)

The program. The combination of yoga (morning and evening) and the hiking.

Rajan and his wife and family are so very nice and friendly. You have to experience by yourself. The food is great!! All fresh and healthy home made food from own garden.
My health condition was not really good. But i can do the hiking because of the help from Rajan. He is such a nice person! Thank you so much Rajan. I will never forget.
For me the yoga was a little bit difficult because i am a beginner (did it only 3 times in Holland) but you can do it in your own level. And it was so nice to start the day with yoga...

"Wonderful Experience"
Rajan, Niru and their family were wonderful to spend time with and be around. Always welcoming and helpful in every way. A little story; I dropped my cellphone in the woods and didn't realize until 45 minutes passed. We had an idea where I likely dropped it but this was the woods/jungle with lots of dirt, branches, leaves etc all around. Very calmly Rajan said 99% we'd find it. We got back to the house, hopped on his scooter (it was now raining hard) went back up the trail, he found the spot and viola in deep underbrush my phone was found. Pretty amazing but I believed Rajan when he said we would find it. The yoga was just right, challenging just enough each day, while there were several new poses and breathing techniques I never did before. Great experience, great value for the money. Highly recommended.

We booked it with my friend for 6 days. The family members were very friendly, helpful, welcoming, and trustworthy! The yoga sessions were appropriate for beginners to intermediate level. "6 Days Yoga & Meditation Retreat"
It was like home. I felt like a family member. I loved the food. I've never eaten vegetarian food for 6 consecutive days but with Niru and the mother of Mr. Rajan's cooking, I think I can stay vegetarian forever. I am so grateful to them for feeding as well, and I salute their effort and hard work. I am also very grateful for Nikita for giving me company at night to sleep in my room, and for sharing some stories about Nepal's culture. I enjoyed the Yoga classes very much and I think my body became more flexible because of the yoga classes. Mr. Rajan is very good yoga teacher and trek guide, and most especially He is concern about the well being of his guests. I loved the people as it was family operated they made you feel like family. The food was absolutely amazing and sooooooo fresh. They have their own garden so most of the food was hand picked. The yoga was fantastic as Rajan really catered to your ability. He always enforced listening to your body as foremost important. Rajan is also extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of yoga food and our body. The hiking was fantastic as everyday we had explored different parts of the jungle. The combination of yoga and hiking was fantastic for the body. Niru did the cooking and the food was AMAZING!Luckily we were also offered a free cooking class which I should have taken! Again every day was a variety and she was super friendly. I had LOVED EVERY BIT OF MY EXPERIENCE HERE SND I WISHED I STAYED LONGER!!!

"Wonderful experience "
Had a wonderful time at this authentic homestay in Bhaktapur, Nepal. Niru’s cooking was fantastic, and Rajan’s hikes and yoga classes were excellent. Make sure to pack a bathing suit as you’ll be hiking to and through some terrific waterfalls. I enjoyed the yoga classes as they were quite different from yoga sessions I get in the west. Rajan was very good at explaining different postures and how they help with your overall health. I would definitely recommend this retreat for anyone looking for an affordable retreat in Asia. Make sure to book with a friend, incase you’re the only one at the homestay during the dates that you book. But either way, your time at Yoga Homestay Nepal will be relaxing and rejuvenating! Thanks again, Rajan and family!’ I will be back again!

I was at this yoga retreat in the monsoon season, which means it rains sometimes but not everyday! The hikes around the yoga retreat is amazing, and Rajan is a good guide and yoga instructor.
The yoga is amazing! It varies each day and I feel I learned a lot on six days. My balance got better and I became more flexible.
Rajans house got destroyed in the big earthquake, so he is rebuilding his house. But everything works perfectly. There is hot water in the shower, a beautiful garden and because of the construction - a nice rooftop to relax and do yoga. I really enjoyed staying here. Rajans family is amazing!
I can only recommend everyone to book this retreat. It have been a very authentic experience with beautiful nature, amazinf yoga and fantastic people.

Staying with Rajan, Niru and their family was absolutely amazing. I felt so comfortable, taken care of, happy and loved. The yoga was fantastic, the food was delicious and the hiking was wonderful. "Authentic experience! "
1) Food and tea
Devon and I are only in Nepal for 4 days so we truly wanted to experience the local life. Staying with Rajan and his welcoming family was certainly the best decision made! They (especially his wife Niru who always has a smile on her face!) spoilt us with food (food that never runs out, it seems!) and they serve this amazing tea that just rejuvenates your body before yoga and warms us at night.
2) Location and room
The room is cosy - nothing too fancy, so if you are the type who needs luxury such as instant warm, fast wifi, you might want to think twice about this. What the home will provide is the authentic Nepalese everyday experience. I love the fact that we can do yoga and eat bfast on the rooftop, drink tea by swing, and just beside their place is the farm where they pick up the freshest vegetables. I had the privilege to eat the snow peas plucked fresh while walking around the farm.
3) Activities
As Rajan has to accommodate to different types of yoga practicers, you might find it a little mundane if you have beginners in the class and you are an advanced yogi. You might like to initiate Rajan to give you options. As for me, I had the pleasure of having him as a private guru so we were able to explore my capabilities.
4) General
All in all, I would say that the experiences, knowledge learnt and relationships made are of more value than what we paid for. Niru Yoga Homestay is certainly one of the most value for money packages I have purchased!
Timo Mueller

Rajan is an amazing teacher with a lot of knowledge. Generally, you do yoga twice a day, sometimes in really nice spots like the roof of the local temple or in the jungle. Rajan is also great in adapting to your own skills and caters for all levels. If you have problems, special wishes or need a connection to the next place/airport, Rajan does his best to arrange that for you.
The hikes are nice and challenging and the view and nature were great.
The accommodation is a home stay so you get a full Nepalese life experience. Needless to say, the food is like all other reviews already mentioned indeed amazing.
The retreat is very affordable so it is excellent value for money. Don’t expect a luxury retreat and I guarantee that you will have a great time .

I had a great time at this homestay and enjoyed my time at the Niru Homestay very much. Rajan - the host and yoga instructor - was very friendly and loves to share his skills for beginners and advanced students. Very tasty home cooked meals were provided by Niru. "Great Yoga in Nepal !"
The Yoga lessons and Pranayama breathing technique were so good. This was my first Yoga retreat and I would recommend it to both experienced people (two teachers were also on our 6 day retreat) and beginners or relative beginners like me.
Excellent base of knowledge from the instructor, who is also so friendly, funny and kind.
It's a real homestay experience too, with the Mother (Niru) cooking delicious organic food from their own fields nearby. The two children are also lovely, bright and energetic.
Some of the best memories were from trekking around the local villages to the jungle/woods area and doing Yoga outside with nature.
Leant so much and felt so much better afterwards, will look forward to going back soon, for some other programmes such as Everest Base camp and Karma Yoga, a new programme which includes some teaching in a local school for 1 month.
Thanks a lot 'bro' and Namaste !

Location is amazing and the trekking is challenging but not over the top, Rajan is very understanding of those who want to take short breaks and his story telling on route is entertaining. I highly recommend spending your time with him.

"Amazing relaxing retreat with the best food and yoga!"
Rajan is an excellent instructor who always tries his hardest to help his students and also to make everyone feel at home. He's very knowledgeable and good at catering to all different levels. The food at the homestay was amazing! It was so lovely to have organic food and to see it grow in the field around the house, the tea is also great! :) Rajan and his family are very welcoming and the homestay made me feel very at peace, the views of the sunrise and sunset whilst there were also wonderful. The rooms are basic but clean and they have a nice shower with hot water! I was only at the retreat for a few days so I didn't do all the hikes that Rajan has planned, but the ones I did were great with lovely views! I wasn't very fit when I was at the retreat so I found the hikes quite challenging, but I also felt really good having completed them. The combination of organic food, yoga twice a day and a hike felt really beneficial to my health and wellbeing, the place is also relaxing so it felt beneficial to my mental health too. All in all I highly recommend!

"Perfect getaway!!"
Whether you are searching place to relax and escape the hussle of the city or engage in advanture and action, this is the place to come! Very well balanced, Bastola's home is humble but full of joy and love. Hiking and trekking everyday ads to the picture and Rajan takes you to different routes and/or destinations according to your level of fitness. After long day three delicioooous meals prepared by his lovely mother and wife with their organic veggies, over real fire stove await to warm your body and soul. You will never forget that! You can get involved yourself if interested! Rajan is caring and thoughtful host. One day he surprised me with homemade yoghurt cause I mentioned it in some conversation! Children are playfull and smart and happy to make u company if u wish, but respectful of the privacy and rest.. you can get an insight into real local life and they are very happy to answer allyour questions!

Super freundliche Homestay Bereiber.

A lovely family environment enhanced my short 3 day retreat. I was seeking and found the serenity, and therapeutic activity after 4 months of travelling. I particularly appreciated the respect and quiet dignity tendered by the extended family. Thankyou

"Great homestay with a varied schedule"
Really friendly and welcoming family.
There was lots of tea offered and the home cooked local food was delicious!
Hot showers.
Each hike we went on was to see something different in the local area.
