Accommodation

Village rooms

This building has beautiful gardens and houses 30 single or double rooms and adjoining room options. It has two large island-chic shared bath and shower areas, private locker per room for toiletries, mahogany sinks and conch shelled faucets, bamboo showers, plenty of toilets, and changing areas. The beds, one or two twins or one queen (limited for couples only), are on top of a wooden stage with plenty of drawers underneath and lockable storage for luggage. Daily housekeeping will tend the space, changing linens, and towels every day.

Program

Specialty workshops include a moon rise cacao ceremony and a chakra healing sound bath. You will feed the body and soul with freshly prepared vegetarian meals among your growing community of fellow travelers and reconnect by spending time in nature and listening to tropical birdsong and the soft crash of waves on the beach. Optional excursions include a jungle expedition to the Lamanai Mayan ruins, snorkeling among abundant sea life in the world's largest barrier reef, or renting a bike and exploring hidden beaches in paradise.

This retreat is perfect for those seeking laid-back adventure. You will experience the healing qualities of the ocean, the power of breaking the shackles of your comfort zone, kind and supportive company, healthy meals, and a full cultural exploration. You will awake to the early morning sounds of birds chirping and the warm tropical air gently rustling the palm fronds outside your straw thatched cabana's window. Leisurely, you will stroll barefoot to the large yoga palapa at the end of a 300' pier over the Caribbean Sea.

An invigorating Vinyasa flow gets your blood pumping and chi flowing, but of course, everything is optional. You can always choose Savasana for your entire practice! Fresh and delicious local vegetarian breakfast follows practices. Pick your adventure for the day! You will trek to Mayan ruins, attend the day trip to explore San Pedro, snorkel with sharks, or just lounge beachside, dozing in the sand.

Your lunch will be in town or at Ak'Bol. In the afternoon or evening, you will practice Restorative yoga or healing ceremony and enjoy the free time to end your day. Our days conclude with a delicious family style dinner and free time before bed. Enjoy stargazing, lively conversation with your fellow travelers, journaling, and quiet time.

Retreat location

Ak'bol Eco Yoga Retreat Center is located beachside on Belize's largest island, Ambergris Caye, just one and three fourth miles from the old fishing village of San Pedro and less than a quarter mile from the second largest barrier reef in the world with world class diving and snorkeling. Nicole Lebreux Yoga invites you to leave your shoes in your suitcase and unwind to the natural rhythm of the island. You will wake up to birds chirping and the soothing rhythm of ocean waves.

Then, you can dine together as a community within a private palapa overlooking the sea with freshly prepared healthy vegetarian meals, practice with the energy of the sea beneath you, and plunge into the sea or in the lagoon-inspired freshwater pool. The sea is your playground. During free time, you can enjoy diving, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, Mayan ruins, or relax in a hammock and listen to the birds.

Food

Enjoy some of the best food in the world! This retreat includes two incredibly delicious daily meals; breakfast every day, a few lunches, and most dinners (we will dine as a group for one dinner at a restaurant in town, not included in retreat price). Meals are served as buffet, breakfast on the beach and lunch and dinner in our private family style palapa. Meals are vegetarian with fish and chicken served occasionally (on these nights there is still a full vegetarian option).

The menu includes Belizian staples such as salibutes, panadas, pupusas, ceviche, rice and beans, lots of fresh fruit, and vegetables. The restaurant at Ak'Bol is considered one of the best of the island.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) on Saturday, February 29. From there, you have two options. One, find the Tropic Air counter to confirm your puddle jumper flight to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. If you choose this option, the airline will already have your name and you will pay the approximately 158 USD to them before your board your flight, cash or credit card. You do not need to book your exact flight time, you will simply take the next one. The flight time is 15 minutes.

Option two, take a taxi directly from Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) to the water taxi terminal in Belize City, roughly 30 minutes and 25 to 30 USD. The boat ride over to Ambergris Caye or San Pedro is 15 USD one way per person and roughly a one and a half hour ride. There are a daily schedule and two water taxis, both are walking distance away from one another. Whatever option you choose, please make sure you arrive in San Pedro by 5:30 p.m. Once you arrive in San Pedro, a retreat leader will be there waiting for you, ready to give you a golf cart ride to Ak'Bol Yoga and Retreat Center.
