Banjar hot spring

The sacred hot springs 'Air Panas' of Banjar are set in the midst of the jungle in a beautifully landscaped tropical garden, close to Lovina beach, and it consists of three public and one private pool. The sulfuric water is of volcanic origin and has an agreeable warm temperature of 37 degrees Celsius, ideal for people suffering from rheumatic diseases.

Best time to visit will be after 10 a.m. In the weekends and national holidays, it starts to get crowded with both local people and tourists. The best time to visit Air Panas, the hot springs of Banjar is as early as possible in the morning when it is still quiet in the pools.

Dolphin watching

There are around 300 spinner and bottlenose dolphins that live off the northern coastline of Bali and come to breakfast in the shallow waters off Lovina. During this daily spectacle, large numbers can be seen playfully jumping out of the water in their small pods. They are at their most active as the sun rises over the hills to the east and the mist lifts over the mountains to the south - a magical backdrop to enhance the whole experience.

Nibbana Bali Resort is offering an exclusive sunrise dolphin trip for one hour at a cost of 30 USD per boat. Each boat can only fit up to 3 persons.

"I stayed at the Nibbana Bali Resort with two friends. We were lucky enough to be there at a quiet time and got the whole place to ourselves. The staff was very friendly and took care of all our needs. We were able to participate in a cooking class that was a very fun experience. I also got to scuba dive for the first time which was amazing! Other highlights of our retreat included a private yoga session with Wayan at a nearby Buddhist Temple and a sunrise boat ride where we saw many, many dolphins. This is a great resort and fun retreat that I highly recommend."

"Pretty nice resort with friendly stuff, clean rooms and well functional bathrooms. The pool had a great view over the rice terraces and towards the ocean."

"Downside is that the resort is literally in the middle of nowhere. You can't do here really anything and the restaurant is also pretty average I quality but overpriced for what they offer. You hear how the food is getting put into the microwave... "

"So my girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights which was just about right to relax from our diving course in Amed. But wouldn't stay longer...."

"Stayed here for just one night to reach some business location the next day. Yet, this simply but pretty styled and maintained resort is all but worth only a one night stay. Rooms are spacious but simple, maybe a little bit too simplistic, yet private outdoor shower and toilet. Would definitely come for longer to enjoy the calmness and the stunning views from its terrace."

"I stayed during the end of the year holiday season. Large and spacious rooms, clean, standard facilities. Some of its properties were undergoing some maintenance and improvement works, which caused some inconvenience to some guests. Pool area is the strong point of this property and good spot to catch sunrise moment. Really recommended for travelers with family to spend holiday with reasonable price."

"This is a little quiet resort that is in a lovely setting and gardens. The room itself was a little tired but perfectly acceptable, the bathroom was outside and a little rustic, the basin in particular was not very good as it had been made to look like stone with a rough surface so was impossible to clean properly so appeared grubby. The pool area is fantastic, we were here to dive so didn't make use of the pool but it looks out over rice fields towards the sea and is very pleasant. The restaurant is a small area by the reception looking over the garden. The menu is limited here but we didn't have a problem, the breakfast was a choice of three options, American- fruit juice, tea/ coffee, fruit and a choice of eggs with toast, a local rice or noodle dish again with tea/ coffee or Fruit, toast, tea/ coffee and juice. The Menu consisted of both local dishes and some western dishes. The staff were all very friendly and it seems they all pitch in doing things, this means you might not always have a waitress there waiting for you to order a beer or drink. The location was fine for us because we were diving. It is at the end of the road and a little bit remote so don't expect bars and nightlife."

"Very very nice resort!Wonderful pool with a great view over the rice fields and the sea. The rooms and very nice and spacious and with wonderful outside bathrooms. The staff is so nice and friendly! The breakfast included is very nice. The only downside to the hotel is the restaurant service and the food at night is not anything to make you yell hooray, but it's ok.All in all I would really recommend this resort!"

"We really enjoyed our stay here for 5 days with our 9-year old son. The place is an interesting mix of luxury (the pool, bathrooms, comfortable beds) and rustic (ants, remote). It is surrounded by beautiful rice fields that you can go for a walk in and a place on the beach where many spiritual ceremonies take place. We did many tours in the surrounding area - rice fields (see Mayong Village Experience), hot springs and temple, and dolphins at sunrise (without so many boats as are found in Lovina Beach). It is a bit sheltered so we ate many meals at the resort, but their food is pretty good and the staff quite lovely. Also, because the resort is small and intimate we were able to meet many other travellers. We highly recommend this place if you are open to a real Bali experience. Thanks Bali Nibbana!"

"We had already been here in August for a night when we came to dive in Puri Jati. This is just a fantastic hotel that gives you access to great dives, the massages in Zen Resort (best in the world, by a fair margin), the rooms are great, and the restaurant is quite fair with a limited but well-planned menu. The room is very spacious and has a bathtub. The pool is really beautiful. And the price is very attractive, this is a great place to come to relax for a few days on a budget. They were very kind to accommodate our group of 6 people arriving one night earlier, as we decided to come earlier since our previous hotel was terrible."

"Very nice, beautiful and silent. The staff tried to read our mind to find out how they could make the beds for us. They never came too close, we were always private in the way we wanted to be. We really enjoyed the holiday, and if we come back to Bali, we will stay at Nibbana."

"The hotel grounds are lovely with lotuses, trees and birds. The family room is spacious and clean. The air-conditioner worked fine, beds comfortable, sheets spotless, hot shower were good. The room has a raised open patio that's nice to sit and relax at. The food served at the restaurant was tasty and staff very friendly and obliging (we borrowed pots and cups from them to bring to the room, ice too).It would be easy to make this good place really great with just a few simple things: Electric pot / coffee and tea - we went to ask for 1 and the guy at the reception said he'd send 2 thermos of hot water but it never came. He added that they'd purchased 5 electric pots previously, all of which have broken down. The next morning we went to the restaurant and got ourselves a thermos of hot water. Telephone (working one, not broken one in the drawer). Minor point here - the wash basin looks like it could use a scrub. That said, we truly enjoyed the serenity and beautiful quiet setting. They arranged a dolphin-watching trip for IDR 350,000 (3 of us in a boat, left the hotel at 5:45am back at 8.30am), and were very helpful when asked for suggestions for driving routes back to Ubud. As the beach is a just 10 minute walk away from the hotel, you probably could go down a day before and look out for boatmen who would be willing to bring you on a dolphin watching trip, agreeing first on the price and duration."

"It's very remote part of Bali but it is a perfectly relaxing and peaceful resort. No disturbance from too many tourists. It was a different experience for my family and we enjoyed the place. The trip to watch dolphins is fun. But it was too short. The visit to hot spring was very interesting too."

"Bali Nibbana is located at Lovina Beach, a bit a way from the main tourist place. It wasn't a problem though, because the hotel staff drove me anywhere for little money. The staff was most welcoming and warm; they did everything to make my stay at Bali Nibbana memorable. They learned my name and showed a lot of flexibility, when I was two hours late for breakfast, due to jetlag. The food was great, there was a large choice (even for a vegetarian like me) and the price was completely reasonable with 45000 to 55000 IDR. My room was spacious and clean, the bed linen was changed and the floor was cleaned every day and the garden is simply amazing! The pool area is clean and quiet, while the view is breathtaking. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the beach, while passing rice fields and two typical 'Bali Shops'. People are friendly and smiling. The fridge in the room is big and empty, so I could store everything I bought that needed cooling in it. Even though, Bali Nibbana is away from the more touristic places, the staff drove me anywhere for little money. I would definitely stay at Bali Nibbana Resort again!"

"The pool is by far one of the most beautiful I've seen. The resort is rather out of the way, which is about a 10-minute walk to Seririt beach and another 10-minute walk to the small town. Service is ok, although when we went when a large tour group was there and were told that we had to get room service, as the restaurant was booked for the group. Our dishes were left on our patio until after breakfast the next morning. The rooms was generally decent, although the closet was too small to put anything in and the paint on the room was peeling. Being close to nature, small animals like frogs and lizards do get into your room. We discovered that our sheets were really dirty and told the hotel who apologized and changed them immediately. The phone was located in a drawer, unplugged, so you needed to walk to the desk to get any service. Other than that, the bedding and towels provided by the hotel were comfortable and clean and all toiletries were also provided.Another point to note is that the toilet is an open-air toilet. On the first day, I had to delay my shower as it was raining and the shower stall did not have a roof. When I took my shower after the rain had stopped, it was night and very cold as the hot water had run out.Wi-Fi is free, but not particularly strong. But the grounds of the hotel were really beautiful and the dolphin tour organized by the hotel was really fantastic. The staffs were really friendly, especially when they were not so overwhelmed."
