Nexus Institute's private residence is located a few steps from the Pacific Ocean in beautiful Nosara, Costa Rica. The property features an expansive canopy-level 40-person vaulted ceiling yoga studio with teak floors and glorious jungle views. Each floor has a gourmet kitchen. The ground floor yoga library and sitting area opens onto a covered porch and lap pool.
Accommodations range from private to shared rooms. You will be within easy walking distance to the beach, tidal pools, shops, markets, and restaurants. Take advantage of the pre-arrival grocery shopping service and find your personal shelf spaces stocked when you arrive. Horace and Janel are present on site throughout your training.

Our three-week training results in certification to teach yoga in North America and around the world. The Nexus 200-hour curriculum includes 180 contact hours and 20 non-contact hours in the following categories:
Janel is co-director of Nexus Institute Yoga & Wellness in Nosara, Costa Rica. Her yoga inquiry has spanned 20 years as a cloistered Catholic nun to welcoming yoga explores from around the world in her home on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Janel holds an M.Ed. in Interdisciplinary Education specializing in modern yoga scholarship. She's a 500-hour Kripalu Yoga teacher and 1000-hour Self-Awakening Yoga Affiliated Director. Janel has facilitated Yoga Teacher Training Certifications in the United States and Costa Rica since 2006.
Horace Usry is co-founder and co-director of the Nexus Institute for Yoga & Wellness. Horace had a previous career in investment banking. However, his love for yoga and personal development trumped his desire to finance and operate additional businesses. He is a certified Kripalu yoga teacher, Nosara yoga educator, and yoga guide. Horace's teaching is influenced by his Shamanic studies in Peru. With gentle humor and a deep understanding of humanity, Horace has assisted hundreds of students in achieving teacher certification at both the 200-hour and 500-hour levels.
The teacher training is held at Nexus Institute for Yoga & Wellness in Nosara, Costa Rica. Nosara is a village in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica. It is a small yet sophisticated beach town surrounded by jungle and wildlife with a peaceful international community and many of the comforts of home. Nosara has been named by National Geographic, Forbes, Conde Nast, and CNN as one of the top yoga and surf destinations in the world.
Orientation will include a full tour of local dining and organic grocery options. Explore local restaurants or build your own tropical meals in two well-equipped kitchens. A light breakfast is included. A daily catered gourmet vegan meal plan is also available.

Nexus Institute is located on Playa Guoines in the town of Nosara on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. They are a two-hour drive from Liberia International Airport (LIR) and a four to five-hour drive from the capital city of San Jose (SJO).
Their favorite airport shuttle is Gypsy Cab Nosara. They will be holding a sign with your name on it as you disembark and will deliver you directly to our doorstep. You may also fly from San Jose (SJO) or Liberia (LIR) to Nosara on Nature Air or Sansa. They are glad to arrange airport transfers or help with your travel arrangements.
The year-round temperatures range from the high 80s to low 90s Fahrenheit. December to April is reliably clear, bright, and sunny with offshore winds between 5-20 mph. From May through September we typically enjoy clear mornings with intermittent afternoon or evening showers. It is a time of gloriously blooming trees, flowers, and fruit. Rains generally increase between October and the first part of November, an umbrella or light rain gear is recommended.
All beach and travel wear is casual. Dress for the tropics. Should you miss anything, our local shops stock sustainable necessities like sunscreen, bug spray, and other personal care products.
